201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea Bans All Initial Coin Offerings on: October 01, 2017, 06:33:06 AM
South Korea’s Financial Services Commission has announced that all initial coin offerings will be banned in the country. and said
"All kinds of initial coin offerings (ICO) will be banned as trading of virtual currencies needs to be tightly controlled and monitored."

Source: https://news.bitcoin.com/south-korea-bans-initial-coin-offerings/

What do you think? Is this ban only temporary and after implementing regulation it they will change their decision or they will do what China did?

It's probably going to be permanent.

I guess they followed in China's steps and basically did the same thing that China did. They're likely not going to change their decision, at least any time soon.

I mean they could be banning it now until they can figure a way of regulating it. So i could be wrong about this, potentially.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why do governments don't make BTC illegal worldwide ? on: October 01, 2017, 06:25:11 AM
Some are already doing so.

Others are making regulation stricter so that it is harder for the average Joe to gain access to bitcoin. Such as the current situation happening in China. But the reason why most aren't banning bitcoin completely is that governments know it'll be impossible.

Bitcoin is a distributed network. It can't be taken over by the FBI or something like that.

203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to find a full list or Presales and ICOs? on: October 01, 2017, 06:23:11 AM
There's ICOWatch and others, but personally i think that reading the altcoin announcement board on this forum is probably the best and the easiest way to find upcoming ICOs. They also have discussion of the coin that you can participate in as well.

Here's the board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

However, make sure you weed out the scams from the rest. I only look at ones that have more than 10 pages of replies.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: create a new currency on: October 01, 2017, 06:21:21 AM
You just write up your own code to define the protocol and that's it. You release it to the public and if they like the idea then they will start using it. There are no registration steps whatsoever. As for maintaining the coin, you have to fix bugs and all that.

Unless you have an expert team, don't even bother. Altcoin markets are saturated right now and unless you have great ideas, you're probably not going to even gain a thousand users on your network let alone achieve anything massive.

If there is any chance that there are open slots for hero, then i'd be up for taking it. I'd be able to change my signature to this campaign's once i get paid out from my current campaign, let me know either way.

Thanks

Hero is filled up, I can give you senior payments and you will only have to do 20 posts. If your interested, change signature when chipmixer pays out (Around 36 hrs from now I think).

Rest are all denied.

Yeah that's fine mate. So senior payouts for 20 posts?

Sounds good. I'll change my sig as soon as soon as the current round for chipmixer ends. Thanks again, atriz!

208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial collapse means Bitcoin boom? on: September 29, 2017, 03:58:02 AM
Not necessarily a boom in bitcoin value but we have seen a surge in usage for bitcoin in countries where its economies have been torn apart by financial crisis. Such as, Venezuela, where bitcoin adoption is at an all time high.

Not really surprising. Bitcoin is designed to be a store of value.

When hyperinflation strikes, bitcoin will seemingly go up in terms of fiat but really just retain its value.
209  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 5 reasons why I predict a bitcoin bear market in Q4/2017 on: September 28, 2017, 10:51:22 AM
We have all witnessed the fall in price on September 14, part due to Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan and part due to rumors around China, the market was bleeding that day. Everybody knows that bitcoin is volatile, but I am sure that you didn't expect waking up that morning and seeing bitcoin down almost 1k$.

Agree or Disagree?
Tell me in the comments Wink

This could definitely happen if further news come out of China or they ban bitcoin mining along with bitcoin exchanges. However, this is pure speculation and if this does not happen then i don't really think we'll be seeing a bear market this year.

Potentially next year as others have said, though.

One of your reasons is that the volume is low - which imo, it really is not. A lot of Chinese volume has actually gone unaccounted for, since they have moved onto p2p trading.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if BTC gets regulated? on: September 28, 2017, 10:47:43 AM
Hello,

Just read somewhere that BTC is accepted by strippers now? lol

I wonder what will happen if it gets regulated by the government? value would go down? perhaps consolidation?

Overall , what's the general outlook? Obviously, I understand it'll be personal opinion but still. Go ahead and share. I'll get to learn something new.

Well first of all, strippers accepting bitcoin really has nothing to do with government regulating bitcoin...

But to answer your question, the government is already "regulating" bitcoin through regulating exchanges and handing out licenses to bitcoin exchanges. Exchanges have certain KYC guidelines in order for customers to deposit/withdraw funds, issued by the government.

Excessive KYC and AML guidelines would definitely hurt bitcoin, such as in the case of China. Otherwise, bitcoin wouldn't really be affected much at all, since it is decentralized in teh first place.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Favorite BTC news sources? on: September 28, 2017, 10:32:29 AM
As you know, the news about the BTC is very effective on the speculations and the prices.

So, what are your favorite reliable BTC news sources?

Thank you!

I personally check news on my blockfolio app, which encompasses Coindesk and cointelegraph mainly. I find that coindesk articles are easier to read than cointelegraph articles, but cointelegraph has a nice variety.

Anyways look for yourself - and don't stick to one single news source.

They can be biased and you could make wrong decisions off that. Keep that in mind.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Jp Morgan invested in Bitcoin on: September 28, 2017, 10:30:53 AM
OP, well said.

Plus there is news saying that JPMorgan is still handling bitcoin orders from their customers even though the CEO seems so anti-bitcoin. It really wouldn't be surprising if Dimon actually is buying bitcoin or holds a short position for bitcoin so that he can use his media outreach to crash bitcoin to make a profit on his short position or to start accumulate bitcoin.

Either way, don't listen to him. He is obviously biased as he is a central bank supporter.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another wall street idiot, this time, Jordan Belfort calls bitcoin a fraud. on: September 28, 2017, 10:24:21 AM
Sometimes it really feels like to me that these wall street names are simply trying to say stuff against bitcoin in order to accumulate bitcoin at a cheaper price. Of course another reason why they would say stuff like this is that they obviously do not want bitcoin to succeed as that would ruin their business.

Anyhow, bitcoin may be in a bubble but how can it be a fraud when it's got nobody controlling it?

In fact, central banking may just be the biggest fraud in the histoyr of the world with so much debt being carried.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Crypto Fund King Says Bitcoin Will Be the Biggest Bubble Ever on: September 27, 2017, 06:37:21 AM

He could be right.

However, i feel like that bitcoin, even if it is in a bubble, after the bubble pops it'll still thrive as normal. The bitcoin network has no dependence over the price at which it is traded at, and that is the beauty of cryptocurrencies.

Now i think that price is still going to go up before any sort of crash happens, but when it does, it's just normal market activity. Every single pump will be followed by a dump.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regarding China on: September 27, 2017, 06:27:55 AM
So yesteday I was watching htis video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Euf36Ueio20 (it's german so you won't understand much if you can't speak german)

Dr. Julian Hosp is a german crypto entheusiast and basicly he is telling his opinion regarding the latest China FUD. He says that in his opinion since the blockchain tech can decentralize everything (currency, identity, ...) gouvernments like China fear that they will be less and less needed in the future. For that reason they try to stop the decentralization in a early stage to maintain their power and existance.

So what do you think about that statement?

In my opinion, yes, he is absolutely right.

Blockchain technology in the future is going to probably take over the control that the government has, and spread it evenly between its users(since it is decentralized, and governents are centralized). Something like bitcoin has the potential to replace fiat currency completely.

This is why governments are so scared bitcoin's going to grow. And it's the main reason why they're trying to stop bitcoin businesses from existing as well.
216  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull trap? Or price going back to 4k for real? on: September 27, 2017, 06:26:00 AM
The fact is that the dump was mainly created because of people panicking over the whole situation going on in China. Now that they realise that it's probably not going to affect much, traders are confident and therefore they are once again buying into bitcoin.

It's that simple, really.

Thus, it is probably not a bull trap. And i feel like price is only going to go up more over teh next few days.
217  Economy / Speculation / Re: is bitcoin bubble? on: September 27, 2017, 05:17:07 AM
there has been so many articles about this and I am not sure if the price is overpriced or not.

Bitcoin is probably not in a bubble anymore.

The price has gone down from $5000 to right now, $3900. ANd we've actually stayed at the $3000-4000 region for a while now meaning that there is a lot of support at the $3000 level and it is unlikely that in the short term, bitcoin is going to go down below that.

But i think we can experience some corrections that take us down to $2000-3000 next year, as speculators stop pumping.
218  Economy / Speculation / Re: I See bitcoin at $10,000 before end of this year. on: September 25, 2017, 11:12:19 AM
Jamie Dimon's attack on bitcoin and China FUD will be a thing of the past and by the end of this month we expect to resume another bullish momentum. The news that Amazon will start to use bitcoin as a mode of payment before the end of this year will definitely going to pump the price. I see bitcoin at $10000 before end of this year, what is your thoughts.

There is a big if here.

If amazon starts to accept bitcoin then bitcoin will probably hit $10k by the end of the year. Though this news isn't an official announcement by any means from Amazon but rather just speculation and rumors coming from a news outlet.

But if amazon does start to accept bitcoin, then people are going to get hyped and they will start buying bitcoin once again. Demand will soar for bitcoin, and doubling the current all time high is not impossible.
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC analysis for this month! on: September 25, 2017, 11:08:20 AM

Hey Speculators,
I am starting up with a tentative analysis over Bitcoins and help you understand about the basic levels if you are not that Pro in all this.
I am a steady Price Action trader who loves to derive levels on his own by watching naked charts only because I never use any indicators to draw where the price will tend to move.
In the image above, we can clearly see that Bitcoin is currently at level which should be determined as the Pivot point as the coin is currently moving with good stability currently with no such harsh moves.
It is currently in a triangle and could break up any time towards high because the momentum towards upside is looking much better against a drop.
It is currently holding hard at its Pivot level and Support 1 (3500) seems unlikely atm seeing the gains it has made so far.
However, it needs to break the triangle with some great force and cross Resistance 1 (4000) in order to confirm an uptrend where achieving Resistance 2 (4500) won't be that hard. After that, I see a rally incoming.

It's already starting to move upwards it seems.

I think a conservative estimate of a level of $4k+ could well be possible if nothing changes from now and the end of the month. People panic sold their bitcoins for cheap when they heard that BTCChina is closing down and even though nothing has changed the panic is gone now and there is a lot of potential for a bull run here.

We could see BTC stop at around the curent level and hang around for another 2-3 days before moving up once again - good time to buy right now.
220  Economy / Exchanges / Re: EXCHANGER on: September 25, 2017, 10:50:07 AM
which exchanger is better? safer? faster?

bittrex, poloniex, c-cex?

C-cex is definitely out of the discussion here because of the fact that it is such as small exchange and where it is incorporated and based is completely unknown. Plus, they have pretty high spreads which can turn out to be huge losses.

Polo's been discussed about a lot. They were a great exchange but for one reason or another they decided to remove the trollbox, slack off on support tickets, and so on.

So i'd choose bittrex out of the three.
