81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: November 01, 2017, 04:13:50 PM
Hi. I’m starting a list of the oldest cryptos. For now I’m maintaining the list on a bitcointalk thread but will eventually host a website. Hoping to add value to old coins by making the age rankings easy to look up.

Offering $20 in crypto bounty for additions/corrections. I want it to be accurate, but I’m sure I’ve made mistakes so could use your help please.

Thread with the list and details is here:

Hi All! I’m creating a master list of the oldest cryptos still in circulation and being traded. Criteria for addition to the list is being listed somewhere on coinmarketcap. Low volume coins are OK, but coin must have a market cap to count. Also name changes and planned swaps are also OK (things like protoshares).

This list will be featured on a website I will promote. The purpose is to assert the value of older coins. So help is greatly appreciated and can benefit XJO!

I did this myself pretty quickly and I’m sure its full of errors still.

2014 and forward I’m going to leave the list incomplete, but people are welcome to submit their coins and I will add them.

2013 and before I want a hard list fully completed and will update if coins go defunct.

Thanks for having a look!

Old coins! They get rarer and more scarce every day.

XJO is a solid buy. Super low market cap, very old coin. Original dev still does updates.

Very strange for an anonymous dev to announce a hard fork with no details. Its counter-intuitive. You'd want to promote your own work, not hide it.... Anyone could announce a hard fork, post some code and ask people to start using it, but ultimately people need to be convinced to switch over, consensus is the only thing that dictates what is mandatory. Why would people start using a new version when they don't know what it does and who wrote it?.... all while the current version seems to work fine?

Kittehcoin went through a hard fork. Dev spawned up 80 billion new coins for himself. Other coins have forked where devs added viruses and such to the new code, exchanges then de-list and kill the coin when they catch it. People can't trust unknown forks by nature, its not how crypto works, usually it only occurs when a dev has majority control of the network already with no one watching......its highly suspicious to mention a "mandatory" fork with no details, no reason to pass up the obvious chance to promote the work and build consensus.

Wow big price movements! A couple thoughts on why it might not be over:

For years VTC and FTC were very similar in market cap. Both big coins of the older days, FTC was the #3 coin for a long time (after Bitcoin and Litecoin). Both VTC and FTC took similar actions by creating unique algos to resist ASIC. Both coins have old and new devs working, much of the old community hanging around, stable solid operating networks.

Today VTC market cap is 200 million, FTC’s is 15 million. One big difference between them tho is that VTC is listed on Poloniex which is pretty exclusive and very high volume. BUT, VTC’s recent price skyrocketing was driven mostly by volume on Bittrex not Polo. So polo isn’t the reason for VTC’s success, its traders on trex through the giant VTC spike. Bittrex is the top spot to trade FTC these days. So all those rich traders pushing VTC are no doubt considering similar movements on FTC given the similarities in the coins.

Very valid point , but I will add even something or summarise what you wrote :
1. Growing Trust in the old coins / communities prior to ICOs (I expect for coins like Blackcoin, MUE to jump)
2. Scandals around the new coins / ICO and again a general mistrust of new coins
3. Diversification : imagine you have 50k to invest in crypto . Where you gonna put your money ? Maybe 5x BTC  but the rest in altcoins surely because, we do not put all the eggs in one basket . Which altcoins are the most reliable ? Again here we go back to point 1-2

This is no financial advice though but I believe most of the old coins with active projects are ready for a strong "comeback"

couldn't agree more, well established older coins are maturing one at a time..

Very true words. There are more trust to old coins for sure and we can see also growing interest in these, because they are well established and the people can see the work of the devs over a long time.

I just try to avoid risk. These ICO coins often launch with massive market caps. The bigger the market cap, the further it can tank. Always gotta consider the whales. A whale in an expensive ICO coin is sitting on tens of millions worth of crypto. Huge incentive for them to sell, no incentive to buy. Whereas whales in small old coins have little incentive to sell as they can't get nearly as much for their funds. This includes developers of course!

And new whales too of course. A millionaire decides to get into FTC, it impacts the price greatly and the big buyer gets a worthwhile chunk of supply. Same millionaire means nothing to a 300mil ICO coin and gets squat of total supply.

Do you want a coin where the developer holds 50 mil worth of coins he never needed to purchase?....or do you want devs like those on FTC who no doubt try to buy low/sell high like the rest of us and who'll only get rich by bringing continued success to the project?

Old coins the dev is your ally for sure..., ICO's...the devs might be allies, but you need to trust them and wait and see.

Hi guys. Anything new here ? Another train is ready to leave soon ? Cause it seems so.
Please explain, help me. Why buy FTC now? what information?

Price. If you look back at its FTC/BTC price history this is getting quite low. Its been around for years so lots of data to look at. FTC had a huge spike last year as well which put the price 25X where it is today. There was plenty of volume and time for holders to sell some FTC for profit during that (25X was the peak, but it was still way up for a long time). Will happen again as the coin is old and was once the #3 coin for quite a while. Old BTC whales remember FTC well. Stable coins with solid dev support and old community members always shoot up again if you wait long enough.....Also looking at market cap, coin is almost #250 and falling behind other older coins. No reason for that, dev team is great, coin well maintained.

Caveat: recently FTC lost its biggest trade volume exchange when 19800.com closed. That legitimately could have caused its recent losses against other coins. But again, that probably just creates a buy opportunity. Chinese political/legal problems with crypto will probably clear up and somewhere another popular FTC/CNY pair will pop up.

Plenty of devs out there who have good intentions toward a coin, but will go quiet periodically to suppress the price and do some buying. I wouldn't expect anything less from an anonymous dev who was rescuing a scam released coin with no market cap. . . .If they are being quiet to buy, I don't blame them its fair game- its open source on a free market. They don't owe anyone anything. I also hope they'd be successful in buying cheap. The best anyone with MAR can hope for is a dev who holds lots of coins.

Live and Topia are the only someones. Not sure what anyone else could do. Send them more requests I guess.

So huge spike of hashing power last week. And today almost 100% price jump....Related? Someone scared out weak hands with their farm and then bought cheap? Maybe someone planning to add a ton of resources to the network is doing some last acquisitions? hmmm, interesting times anyways!

If miners didn't sometimes mine for negative profit, BCH wouldnt exist...

Anyone know whats up with 19800.com? Coinmarketcap hasn't been able to sync with them for days and the site seems not to be working properly.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Feathercoin [FTC] on: August 30, 2017, 11:30:41 PM
Good News! I think it's time to buy some cheap FTC!

yeah the price is cheap, but then the coin is dead  Grin

Again, whats your definition of dead?

A definition that doesn't include trading volume or developers I guess.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Feathercoin [FTC] on: August 30, 2017, 05:58:44 PM
FTC at new all time low in market cap ranking i believe. #204 on coin market cap. Gotta be a good buy time you'd think.

On any given day FTC is also blowing away the coins ranked around it in volume- that's got to reach a breaking point eventually and push it up to coins that do similar trading volume.

Hi All.

I'm going to produce a 1min promo video for Joule. I'm a pro, I've done videos for many big companies and have a pro writer to work on the script.

Maybe an electricity themed animation to fit with "Joule"?

Features to highlight:

-Old coin
-Can mine with old bitcoin miners no longer useful for bitcoin: "ASIC friendly"
-POW provides better decentralization
-No premine, no scams, no scandals, fair launch
-Original dev still doing updates
-Electricity themed name lends toward decentralized energy which is also happening

Could someone explain "Energy Efficient" from the OP and logo? Is it more efficient than other ASIC mined coins?

All thoughts and comments very welcome! I want to ask for a bit first, see who is here and has comments to add. Then move to production.

Thanks!
