41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | FUNDING THE FUTURE WITH THE FUTURE OF CURRENCY on: June 02, 2018, 03:09:41 PM

https://www.crypto51.app/  ===> Einsteinium   EMC2   $40.50 M   Scrypt   141 GH/s   $33   13,859%

 Cheesy Grin Wink Kiss

$33?

weeeee

Network hashrate almost doubled since you posted this, attack could be going at this moment...hope they change algo soon
C'mon guys, I guess you're long enough in crypto to know better.
Yes, that might be power cost for 51% attack, but it's same like claiming it needs only $50 (for a handgun), to get a lot more by robbing a bank.
Double spend is fraudulent activity. Anyone can do it, but they should be prepared for the consequences.

Be serious...

this is very serious ~ if someone can spend less tha $100 to 51% the coin then what are the developers doing to stop this?
Many other coins' teams are taking direct action now to mitigate this, and we already know what the response time is for anything getting done with emc2...zzz  *yawn*

We are implementing a new algo in the next few months which will further decentralize the mining. Beyond that, masternodes are coming in he fall. Additionally we work hand in hand with the exchanges who have massive resources to defend against attacks. Furthermore, we are implementing features in the next few months which will make mining and transferring of emc2 very transparent. So only way to attack would be to do so in a very public way and guarantee being caught by the authorities. Patience is key with new tech. Bugs will be fixed, security will improve.

What platform is emc 2 developing now? i am wondering Is there any news to distribute to the media?

We are currently doing a number of things:

1) Crowd funding platform - Provides an opportunity for organizations all over the world to expose the community to their projects. Will also be live for EMC2 holders to vote for the Einsteinium Awards. This will be released by the end of June.

2) Core updates : Lightning Network implementation, transparency and accountability features (including required explanations of withdrawals for organizations which accept EMC2 as a donation/gift). Then later (fall 2018) master nodes. Future plans include 0 risk feature to reduce volatility which will enable charities and other organizations a better means of liquidation for necessary payments.
We intend to be the most transparent coin in existence, while also providing the most advanced features of crypto including near instantaneous transactions, low fees (under $1), and highest Tx/Sec.

3) Further integration with ATW Tech into mobile gaming platforms and other TBA partnerships/integrations

4) Weee for iOS and then available for App Store/Google Play. (There is not a set date for these release yet but will be in 2018)

5) Further trading pairs, accessibility and conversion. We are actively looking at Exchanges/OTC/Banking/Hedge Fund partners to enable us to integrate backend systems to create ease of use for those looking to acquire and send EMC2. There is no timetable on this, but we are hoping to provide many of these options in the next 3-6 months.

Let me know if you require any more details to provide for media.

I feel like this is one of those threads that might go down in infamy in 10 years time.
48  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Come shape the future of a global currency! on: May 13, 2018, 11:47:12 AM
Bitcoin and digital currency (cryptocurrency) are increasingly popular in Indonesia. Even in May, the exchange rate of one chip of BitCoin equivalent to 20 million

However, not a few people question the future of digital currency, especially related to price fluctuations and security of transactions.

In response, CEO of Bitcoin Indonesia, Oscar Dermawan stated that cryptocurrency is a remarkable technological achievement

Not sure what this has to do with the topic. Did you mean to post this here?

This coin has become a total mess. very low volatility - definitely not worth the time of investment. there are more than enough of other better investments coins and no one wants to get stuck for months on a coin that barely does anything at all most of the year. gotta be honest, sorry.

I'll be honest as well. I'm happy to see folks like you put their money into something else. We're not interested in day traders looking to make a quick buck. We're making major changes and focusing on the long term, which is about transparency and utility for charity and politics. We're out to make a change in the world, not a change in your bank statement.

Tell me, how can I participate in this project without investing in personal funds?

There are plenty of people from the community who have reached out who want to lend a hand. For some, its about telling other people about the project through social media, telegram, etc. For others, its sharing ideas about further partnerships, or technical specs. Maybe it's encouraging local businesses to accept EMC2, or discussing with local charities about getting in touch and helping them to set up a funnel to use it as a means of donation.

The point is, there are lots of ways to help.

We just set up a new slack for those who want to participate more in the project. If you want to join, shoot me an email at ben.kurland@emc2.foundation
52  Economy / Economics / Re: A cryptocurrency with volatility can't be used as money on: May 12, 2018, 12:05:37 AM
Yes it's true, if the volatility is too high then its not suitable to be used as currency, imagine one apple cost 1 BTC today the next day it can caused 0.8 BTC and the next day it cost 1.1 BTC, it will make the owner hard to set the price and predict the profit, but if the volatility is within months then I think it is still okay, crypto currencies need to be mass adopted so the volatility is not too high

Couldn't agree more...volatility has a lot to do with a lack of meaningful transactions on the network. The order books are too thin and once it becomes more widely adopted than the resistance of the buyers and sellers will help to stabilize the price.

Furthermore, there may be other protocols which handle micro-transactions better, in which case one will be like a checking account and bitcoin will be a "savings" account in essence.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins that might survive in the future? on: May 11, 2018, 11:53:49 PM
Based on what it has been seen among the wide array of altcoins such as development, innovation, and security issues, what altcoins might survive in the future?

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term.  Grin

I believe that a lot of these projects will find specific solutions and ultimately benefit bitcoin. For example, zencash or zcash working on privatization off chain, could eventually be implemented into the core of bitcoin. It's best that each of these projects focus on solving one aspect of digital currency so that the entire space can benefit in the long run.
54  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Come shape the future of a global currency! on: May 11, 2018, 11:38:34 PM

What does it mean pure crypto? What the real value of such "pure" crypto vs smart contract. Bitcoin an Litecoin were the first and their value like value of gold and silver. But what the value of alts based on the scrypt algo?

Meaning, not an ICO. Not a security, but a 0 pre-mined community coin.

The real value is a derivative of demand. We've decided not to compete with Bitcoin and Litecoin but to find utility in a specific market, which is philanthropy. This is more than a 1 trillion/year industry so there is plenty of growth opportunity. But it does not make sense to raise money just to raise money. So having a mineable coin is the only true way to have a tool to be used for these purposes.

So, to this end, we will be integrating features into the core of the coin that actually will make it more transparent and a better currency to use for the sake of donations than anything else that exists.

Bitcoin can be gold, Litecoin can be silver. Einsteinium will be Sapphire (which aside from being blue and the september birthstone which is when the EMC2 awards take place, also represents honest, loyalty, purity and trust).

I got mine through amazon. Great price.
57  Economy / Economics / Re: Any ideas of what we lack in crypto world? on: May 11, 2018, 06:26:08 AM
This is still such new technology. The real issue is we built the high speed train before putting down the rails. These features (custody, wallets, regulated exchanges, etc.) will come in time, making the space much safer for everyone else to jump in.
58  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin worth? Welcome to discuss on: May 11, 2018, 06:24:20 AM
All things are valued based on what people are willing to pay for them. Nothing more, nothing less. Yes, there are items which produce, or yield things, but this is similar to the mining process, or the staking process.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can collecting airdrops be a full time occupation on: May 11, 2018, 06:22:53 AM
Um...no. Most airdrops see major rise in price for the token promoting the drop, only to be dumped right before the drop. What ever you invest, you will likely not get the value out of the new coin to make it worthwhile. Conversely, every "freebie" drop is usually for pennies.
60  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think will happen next? on: May 11, 2018, 06:17:58 AM
Its going to continue to bounce around until more institutional investors pour in. This is likely to happen once ETFs are approved paving the way for custodial services.
