1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Rig Compromised - HELP on: January 26, 2014, 09:54:55 PM
I'd say it's probably an issue with the activation, or it could likely be a virus if it's a crack/illegal download.

If your rig is just for mining you can run Linux and that should work if you can't get Windows working.

Nice work. I love this pool!!

Agreed. Just wish I had a higher hashrate Sad

You and me both.  If only 7950s were $180 on ebay like they were a few months ago.

Everybody needs a break from this stuff from time to time, including h2o.

Yes and for him it's very well deserved.

I have something like 450-500 and I get almost .01 per day.  It's not anywhere close to a week.  It's more like 2 days or so if we have a bad day.

I used to be getting that, but can't tell due to these issues :/

Well I have .008 or so right now. From my guess today was close to a normal day.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 25, 2013, 07:46:54 PM
400kh will not take a week to do 0.01, it could be half as long
Its the WU which counts more I think
im only just over 400 and ive been getting 0.01 per day roughly

I am so angry that I didn't mine it more when I first heard about it in like 2011.  I heard about it early enough that I could have probably found a block on my own at some point.  I had decent hardware even though I was young.

I mined it for like a week and ended up getting what would now be some really good money.  Maybe a few hundred dollars?  I lost the wallet (probably deleted/forgot about it because at the time it was worth squat) and only picked it up in April of this year.  I didn't get serious until about a month ago.

Then again, I think still have the hard drive that the wallet was on.  If I could find the file, I could have some good money.  Hmm....

I earned MAYBE .005 today and I was offline for 9 hours (you can see it in my personal graph) since my computer decided it needed to do an update and I wasn't home.  Reason you see a very low hashrate for a while is because my brother probably fired up his computer mid-morning and I have CGMiner set to run in the background/invisibly upon startup on his PC with a .vbs at low intensity so it doesn't affect performance much. (muahahaha)  Also, I've been having issues with frequent disconnects today.  Sometimes it'd reconnect right away, sometimes not.  Anyways, I looked in my PC's event log since I was really annoyed about the downtime while I was away and wanted to punch my monitor once I saw this in the log:

"Restart Required: To complete the installation of the following updates, the computer will be restarted within 15 minutes: - Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2835361)"

Of course it happened at 3 AM and I was at someone else's house...

I guess today wasn't so bad.  Just a below average one I guess?  This kind of close to what I earned before Doges and before I added another 150+ kh/s with my 6770.  If Bitcoin were closer to $1k I'd be happier though.  At least the slide stopped for now from what I've seen.  At $668/BTC according to Multibit's wallet I made about $48.04 since late Sunday evening/early Monday morning.  Thanks again h20!
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 02:15:57 AM
Although I understand we've been having very good days lately, I've been around since a little before then.  Considering the HUGE hashrate we have now compared to when I joined, I think that some of the balance isn't showing up.  Yesterday, the graph shows quite a jump at a random point in the day, with a drop in unexchanged that does not equal the amount gained.

The "balance" we have right now is similar to what we'd get with ~2 GH/s before the days of DOGEs, I think.  Not sure but the balance doesn't seem quite right.  I think that something just isn't updating.

From what I gather, h20 is probably going insane with all the growth and work necessary to keep things running.  He'll probably get around to fixing it at some point, if there's indeed a little bug.  We'll probably see a huge spike here sometime if I'm right.

EDIT: Or, I guess we could be getting screwed over by bad luck or whatever else.  Who knows, I guess.  Huh
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just spent about $20 on the cheapest coins on Cryptsy -- good investment? on: December 21, 2013, 09:25:13 PM
From my limited knowledge I think that the cheap coins are pretty much a crap shoot.  However, since you spread out your money it's not like you'll lose almost everything unless there's a really, really bad turn of events for the coins.

If $20 is just pocket change to you and/or you could afford to lose some of it then I think it's not a bad idea to try this.  I'm pretty sure you'll almost certainly be able to get most of it back due to the way you spread the investment out.  If you're lucky you could double your money and reinvest in other coins, cash it out and get a meal at a restaurant or convert it to BTC and order a pizza on pizzaforcoins Smiley

If I weren't so cheap I'd invest a bit myself for the heck of it.  I'll personally stick to mining for now since my electricity might as well be free.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 20, 2013, 02:40:19 AM
That sucks about cryptsy.  I think I saw something that said Vern was investigating some issues and paused trades but I'm not 100% sure.

There's been a lot of issues with that site and it's kind of annoying, but what are you gonna do I guess.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 10:38:23 PM
This pool has a high share difficulty, or whatever the best way of putting it is.  For me, I get somewhere near 1 accepted share per minute with about 480 kh/s.

As long as your hashrate seems about right and you aren't getting hardware errors (HW on the cgminer screen) you should be OK.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 10:29:05 PM
Of course DOGE would stop being uber-profitable the very day my second GPU comes in.  That's my luck for ya.

Oh well.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 03:35:43 AM
Shocked BTC.0177 for me today!  Best payout yet!  If only my stupid frigging 6770 had made it onto the delivery truck today! It missed going out today by about 2 hours.  The huge payouts are helping the pain I'm experiencing because of the price drops.  If we can keep this up I will be beyond happy.  The payouts' potential is even huger if you're perhaps very optimistic and believing that the prices will rebound shortly (I mean like a few weeks or so) like I am Smiley If Bitcoin was at $1000 right now, a lot of people here with insane hashrates would be getting even more ridiculous amounts of money.

Also, that stirs up a question I have.  To someone that has insane to me hashrates north of ~5 Mh/s or so, how do you accomplish this?  Is it sheer hardware volume like a basement full of 7950s, or are using some more, *ahem* sneaky methods? (botnets?...) If you had a basement full of 7950s, I'm pretty sure that would heat an entire room, but whatever.  I noticed that the guy with the top hashrate made something like BTC1.73 today.  That's a lot.

Lastly, has anyone tried mining with a reference design 6770?  I know this isn't the best place to ask but I don't think it's deserving of a thread.  I haven't found much googling it but I'm wondering what kind of fan noise is required to keep it safe for temperature.  I just want to be able to sleep in the same room as it and keep it under 80-85 degrees or so.  I guess I have an MSI 7870 heatsink+fans I could try to mount on it if it's too hot, but I'd rather not unless heat/noise is a problem.

Thanks!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 02:56:46 AM
the frontend of the website my username(btc addr) is showing blank in accepted shares ...

The webpage update is running slow for a bit, and might not update for a while. Until I do the payout today. Then it should be running smoothly.

so there's nothing wrong with the backend right ? just a display issue ... I'll carry on then oh and don't trade the doge on cryptsy it's chaos up in that bit*h

I'm pretty sure it's just a display issue.  My values haven't updated in at least a half hour but everything's OK and shares are still being accepted in CGMiner.

With the rate that middlecoin is growing and the chaos h2o is probably having to deal with daily some minor glitches and whatnot are to be expected.  Smiley
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 18, 2013, 02:12:04 AM
Yes, I've noticed that with the high difficulty, my hashrate jumps between 220 (when I get a lot of rejects) and 410+ kh/s on a 380 kh/s setup, from what I remember.  Most of time time it is reporting near or slightly above the actual hashrate, I believe.

Over the course of a day or 2 it definitely evens out, so the high difficulty isn't an issue I don't think.

Also, that idea about the algorithm sounds like a good idea in theory at least.  I think that we could perhaps mine the 2-3 most profitable coins and then split the earnings between everyone, if that's possible to do, if we grow huge(r) and start having issues with wrecking markets even more so than we probably do.

EDIT: At the current exchange rate, I got $10.83 in BTC last payout.  That's awesome!  Also I noticed that Multipool.us has a Dogecoin pool now.  I have a feeling that, if Doges continue to be insanely profitable, they're going to get destroyed by pools like ours and multipool's.  Kind of sad because I think the whole idea of it is hilarious.

Just noticed my payout. BTC.015 for 380 kh/s or so!  I should stop doubting  Grin  I don't know how he does it but I really don't care at this point.

I'm seeing frequent disconnects, which is probably costing ~5-10% of my hash rate.  I'm pretty sure it's not my connection because I don't see this with other pools or hashco.ws.  What would be the reason for this?

Hey I got that issue too.  Although my situation isn't exactly the same it was really annoying me until I downloaded CGWatcher.  I know this sounds like an advertisement for it, but it lets you manage your settings in the application (intensity, etc) and can restart CGMiner if accepted shares haven't changed in X minutes, which could be something that'd help you.

I realize that in this scenario your disconnects are not as spaced out as mine.  If you're getting disconnects over broader periods of time, I'd give CGWatcher a shot.  If the disconnects are a minute or 2 apart, I don't know if it'd help.  I have it set to restart CGminer if accepted shares haven't changed in 10 or so minutes.

Otherwise I don't know what it could be.  I'm not exactly an expert on that, I just found the easy fix for me I guess.  Smiley

I could care less if we collect on the dogecoins because the humor of the damn things has kept me laughing for a good part of the day.

 Grin

This ^^^ (to a certain extent, although my posts haven't shown it so much Grin )

EDIT: Dang the Bitcoin price doesn't look good.  Every time it looks like it's hit its low it's just like "lol nope." I guess that's how things work (no real knowledge on this stuff) but it sucks to watch it.  Good thing I cashed out my BTC for gift cards 2 days ago rather than saving for a bigger one.  With middlecoin and some prior digging around in other pools I actually got $35 in Amazon gift cards from 2 (off and on bc of cgminer being dumb) weeks of mining.  Grin

I mine on middlecoin since a lot of time, and h2o is very expert in alt coin market.

Sorry, I couldn't pass up the chance since we're talking about Dogecoin, after all.  Wink Hope I didn't screw it up..

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 16, 2013, 11:38:46 PM
I don't think so but we've pretty much figured it out I think.  I've no idea what else it could be, as the difficulty retargets appear to be on time with stated values.

I think some other guys figured it out about 5 pages back in the thread.

I could be wrong though.
