Having the 10 times limit is a very stupid thing to do. Without that he could have tried forever, who knows, it was probably breakable, big chances anyway.
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25% of crypto users not securing assets as well as they think on: January 13, 2021, 03:24:30 PM
Holding BTC on any exchange for more than a few days is a crazy thing to do. The risk is there no matter how big the player name is. HODL!!
403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: again a Bitcoin millionaire who forgot his password on: January 12, 2021, 08:21:33 PM
Just print the BTC private key somewhere and voila your bitcoins are stored for life! No need for any special device. Some people make things more complicated than they are.

Well, this is not so easy either. There could be a fire where you keep it. I have my keys in two different places but I have a very small amount. If I had 7,000 Bitcoins I would have several hardware wallets and the keys in several places, including bank safes.

Besides, having so much Bitcoin in my case would mean that I would also have millions in real state and in the stock market, to give just two examples, so if I lost the keys to a hardware wallet that had, say, 1,700 Bitcoins, I would still have another 5,200 plus a lot of money, more houses, stocks, etc.

Maybe but in his case a paper would have been a better solution. Of course saving in more places is obvious thing to do.

405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would they exchange gift cards with btc on: January 12, 2021, 04:58:21 PM
Bu how is he gonna turn those gift cards to real money

Maybe he is using the cards for himself, or resells them.
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My only BTC regret is this one on: January 12, 2021, 04:43:38 PM
Yes, but must have been a great period in 2009-2010. Faucets giving 5 BTC, Pizza for 10,000 BTC, buying 1 BTC for a few cents... must have been quite an adventure. I regret missing it for all the fun involved not to mention the amount of BTC I could have saved.

I totally get what you mean; you know, buying bitcoin so cheap that it's almost like you're just buying play money. Sounds lovely, ain't it?

But mate, you gotta be very happy getting in THAT early. I'm guessing most of us here came into this space at 2016/2017 or later. You had a 4-year head start! and 4 years is a pretty pretty sizeable amount of time.

You're right, after all there is a word: "it's never too late to start".
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would they exchange gift cards with btc on: January 12, 2021, 04:40:50 PM
Hi, There is one guy in paxful and he is constantly selling btc for xbox or microsoft gift cards. Why would he does that. What's the reason for that. He's just selling for gift cards but nothing else

... He collects a form of money to avoid taxes?
408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My only BTC regret is this one on: January 12, 2021, 04:38:26 PM
I first found out about it only in 2013! And I'm an avid internet user. However, I still don't get it how I missed the first train. On the other hand, many people who found about it in 2009 might have said "what's this joke, not interested".
Meaning you are one of those people who are pioneer about bitcoin if you found out bitcoin on that year, however you are also one of those people who said that bitcoin is a joke and you lose your interest way back then. Because if you have entrusted bitcoin from the very start then probably you are not regretting on what the bitcoin has done on the past years especially this year. You may regret that thing but always remember that your time may come soon so better don't bother on thinking and regretting those memories, maybe it would be a lesson for you so that next time you will not regret on what you have been done.

Please read again. I've missed the 2009 train, BUT I haven't missed the 2013 train.
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My only BTC regret is this one on: January 12, 2021, 04:30:56 PM
You missed the pump in 2013. I think, there is nothing wrong with that, because at that time most people were trying to avoid cryptocurrency.
Very few people used to hold or use crypto. At that time there was very little positive news about crypto. So it is not uncommon to miss the bullish candle of 2013-17.
But what about now? Did you able to catch the bullish trend of 2020?  I hope you caught the 2020 train. If you can't, then it's really mater of shame & unfortunate for you .

I've missed the 2009 train, not the 2013 one.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The higher BTC goes, the bigger the risk/reward ratio and the less buyers enter on: January 12, 2021, 04:08:45 PM
I strongly believe it will reach 1 Million a coin because:

1. Gold will become obsolete (too hard to move around, to transaction and its supply grows 2% each year)
2. BTC is limited in supply (~15 M active coins for the whole world is nothing!)
3. The future is crypto money, we won't be living in ice age forever

The banks are scary like... they will do everything they can to stop it, but will fail.

Well, the funny thing is, many (tech avid) people I know asked themselves late 2017 how they could have missed the Bitcoin train all the years. In early 2018, they were very happy they missed the train and almost forget Bitcoin again. In late 2020, same people asked themselves again how they could have missed the train again Grin A never ending loop.

I knew about egold years before it but missed BTC! Impossible!

413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Alt Exchanges - Verification Process? on: January 12, 2021, 03:30:52 PM
I see there are still some small and shady ones out there. Or at least very small in volume.

How's the verification process for them?

I'm asking because I've been away for some years and I remember the times when you could open an exchange account in 5 minutes and start trading.

Are those times long gone now with the big guys?

Thanks.

I haven't missed the 2013 train, only the 2009 one to clarify.

Where have you been all this time
and as a holder, then what have you been holding for a long time, apart from bitcoin for example?
There are a lot of changes, and of course I'm sure you will be the holder because you already know that when you come back things will get a little out of the ordinary.

I've been watching the prices all this time. I'm all for BTC, have a few other alt coins but noting of real value.
I believe BTC will reach $100,000 in max. 1 year , $300,000 in 2-3 years and up to $1M in long term.

Why do you think so?

After holding 8 years I got my reasons. Come back to this thread in 10 years.

I never sold a fraction since 8 years. HODLER.

Hello, I've been away for a few years and now I'm looking at the alt coin market...
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I'm back on: January 12, 2021, 01:06:28 PM
After a few years of pause I'm back. I'm a HODLER so can't expect too much changes but anyway, I thought I'd check around. Maybe try some alt coins? Smiley
420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble closer than you think? on: January 08, 2018, 11:28:37 PM
BTC will exist even in the next 100 years... if it crashes everyone will want to buy a lot so it cannot crash

The only ones saying it's a bubble are the ones who missed the train and are envy right now
