I'm in a similar boat and look at dogecoin as a mining learning experience. I created a wallet and have 4.7 DOGE.

I downloaded cgminer and set up a pool account at doge.scryptpools.com. I can't get my batch configuration file working, but just by running the application and entering the sever info, user, and password I got to this screen:



Seems like I'm getting a hashrate, but nothing is happening here:



I feel a little stuck because I can't tell if this is working. So to the Bitcoin Forum! Any help is such appreciated.

You need to use a batch file and add --scrypt after cgminer.exe.
Here's an example:

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://doge.scryptpools.com:3322/ -u yourusername.user -p password

I use doge.scryptpools.com.
