Bullshit.

BitCoin is about one thing and one thing only.

Freedom.

Freedom from the oppressive debt used by the insidious influence of the world that controls us.

But only if it doesnt make them, or what they created, look bad.

Situational freedom I suppose.

Appearance is everything.

They are willing to sacrifice freedom for the sake of public perception and legitimacy.

Just like Gavin is going to that ruse of a presentation at Langly to get debriefed by the intelligence community, when they know exactly what BitCoin is, exactly how it works, already parsed the source code, and read all the documentation. Question is what they really want from Gavin in return for not making waves for bitcoin.

Reminds me of the Hegeilian Dialectic. Problem, Reaction, Solution. But thats another subject, albiet related.

In my neck of the woods them's called whores, folks.

As long as their agenda is served, they will do anything for anyone, under any circumstances to make bitcoin a success.

mighty expensive whores if you ask me.

hello
349  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions (Please discuss forum policy here.) on: June 12, 2011, 10:05:50 AM
I need the ability to post as I have trade to engage in.

Additionally, many of my custoemrs can not post in the Marketplace > List of honest traders section because of this new rule.

Lastly, many of us traders have 3rd party sites and services with customers willing to post of their experiences on the list of honest traders, but not willing to spend weeks building up the required post count to do it !

At least open up the List of honest traders to everyone.

its is not about spam at all

its designed to limit exposure and silencet those bitcoin disagrees with.

these people usually post under newer identities.

it was desigend so that silk road gets less exposure here.

of course, bitcoin will do anything to increase legitimacy and the chances someone will invest the funds they need to progress.

... even if that means selling out themsleves and freedom and liberty to the gov, CIA, intelligence community ... anyone or anything to progress bitcoin.

and who says everyone cant be bought =)

You need 50 posts to post outside, so just share and help others out. Its to stop spam.

what spam is that?

the forum is designed so people can advertise products and services tht deal with bitcoin.

show me one spam post that doesnt.

I recommend randomization services through http://random.org/ who provides true randomization, not scripted pseudo-randomization.

It can add credibility to your service.

is there a way to show how much I can be trusted? or is there very low cost escrow service?

for trust: this thread and http://bitcoin-otc.com/

most exchanges offer escrow for cash<->BTC: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Category:Exchanges

there are also other escrow services for purchasing: http://www.google.com/search?q=bitcoin+escrow

Hopefully not forever.

Forget it guys. They are in deep trouble with the Fedz. It's no thanks to these morons that congress has an excuse to go after bitcoin now.

Then why dont they go after the debt-based, privately-financed federal reserve notes that are systematically stripping the wealth of every citizen?? After all it has facilitated much more (and worse) crime and corruption for a much longer period of time.

Oh wait. Then they would not have instant access to unlimited amounts of money they do not have the political will to tax us directly for, plus they would lose their control stranglehold and free us from our enslavement. Wont even get into the hidden tax called inflation it provides.

On a Tor hidden service, I doubt the feds can even find them.

Tor was developed jointly by the US Naval Laboratory and the Free Haven Project over at M.I.T. for a reason ... and it wasnt to hide a couple people trying to light up.

Silk Road will be back soon. They are probably switching to a more robust server.

had any one been able to log on successfully in the last hour before they took it down?

Yes i been logged in for a few hours and just refreshed and its offline for maintenance.

Anyone buying accounts needs to know this before buying the account, because you will not be able to confirm login credentials until its back up in a day or 2.

Lol the people with extra accounts are scam sellers who boost their seller's rating by buying their own stuff

I think we all know that, yes, there a few scammers around, but the lions share of us are are good honest business persons only trying to conduct in fair trade.
359  Economy / Marketplace / Re: OPEN SCAMMER Alert! Name + info within, DONT GET SCAMMED on: June 10, 2011, 10:23:21 PM
I'm kind of shocked the mods of this forum haven't posted something about it.  The fact of the matter is paypal trades are a cancer that is full of scammers preying on bitcoin newcomers looking to get their first coins.  This sort of thing needs to be 100% visible for all to see, and with some authority behind it.

BRB, registering domain: BitcoinPublicServiceAnnouncments.com

I tried to.

I posted about it (my above post) in the head of the marketplace forum and asked a admin/mod to sticky it to the top.

They deleted it and moved it here.

I have no idea what they are thinking either.

It is not only fraudulent buyers you have to worry about.

You also have to worry about paypal taking in upon themselves to cancel and reverse transactions, which is already ocurring. Heck, even if you gift it, paypal can cancel and reverse it even if the buyer doesnt want it cancelled or reversed.

On a side note, I find it ironic and mildly amusing that people are crying about the fraud and doing so much to attempt to prevent fraud, yet they condone, promote, and suggest comitting fraud in trying to curcumvent the paypal rules.

Anyone trying to use paypal who knows their rules, deserves exacty what outcome paypal decides on based on their rules, in my humble opinion.
