Muniti coin is slow picking up and it is getting more and more exciting due to Radi's effort.

I guess to make things easier for tourism, a mobile wallet is a must.

Do you think anyone can use the code of this android bitcoin wallet and adapt it for Muniti?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.wallet

An Android wallet would mean a great boost for us; the bounty is still there and completely negotiable on our end. Should you find anyone interested in creating a wallet, please let us know. We currently have our hands full with interviews and job applications for the D2D team, street promotion which will continue tomorrow, and talks with local entities regarding promotion and possible adoption of Muniti for sales.

If you might have noticed, we have been in talks with AACasino, and one of the topics which cropped up was a sort of "sponsorship" whereby companies would include our logos in their promotion. There's nothing solid on that aspect as of yet, but we're working towards that objective.

Good efforts. If you can convince the AACasino to accept Muniti, that would be fantastic. Maybe you can entice them with some premined coins?

For now they simply inquired about promoting Muniti through their specialised online gaming network, which is already a huge step in itself. Paying them bounties in Muniti would work well both as an incentive and would also work to distribute the coin further.

Hi Dev team,

I am so excited about this coin, I made the move from lurker to register on Bitcoin Forum!

I wanted to share a couple of ideas, as someone who studied in Malta but is no longer there.

  • Why not advertise around the university? If you go in the main building underneath the canteen there are all the notices, could stick some posters up around there and maybe offer some competition or something. Maybe you could get in touch with the IT department or put some other notices there - would be cutting edge for students to get involved in the ecosystem. What if you ran a short guest lecture on how the Dev team created the coin. If you made this as a webinar I would love to listen in too.
  • This could be big for some of the Paceville clubs if it increases tourism for them. They are always handing out those buy one/ get one free tokens for drinks - why not ask one to print a muniticoin logo on them too?
  • I am not sure if they have this in Malta but I have seen they have it in other tourist cities. Some students do some free guided tours, mainly with young travellers from youth hostels, they are usually really enthusiastic as they do it all for tips. If you managed to get in touch with some of these, or the hostels, and told them about muniticoin as an exciting thing to add to their tour of Malta it could help spread awareness.

Thanks for your work so far on this team! I have a question - how can you afford to do all this free giveaway and pay for the distribution workers?

Hi YBC, and welcome to BitcoinTalk. It's great to hear from someone who has experienced first-hand what Malta has to offer, especially if it was on a long-term basis. We always value feedback from such sources!

There are some posters up near St. George's Bay, which as you might know is a few steps away from Paceville. We will put up some posters in Paceville itself later on, and I agree that they will be very effective if placed there. If you might have noticed, we have been in talks with AACasino, and one of the topics which cropped up was a sort of "sponsorship" whereby companies would include our logos in their promotion. There's nothing solid on that aspect as of yet, but we're working towards that objective.

The University building is also a great spot for promotion as well. We were planning on launching a full-blown campaign there as from next October, since during the month of May, most students would be busy studying for their finals and promotion there would lose much of its efficacy as a result. The webinar idea is innovative and sounds great, we will definitely take that into consideration.

There are some kind-hearted people who offer free guides for tips, but they're few and we do not know how we can reach them. Part of the functions of the D2D team will be to explain to interested persons what Muniti is all about, but they sadly won't be offering free tours to tourists, partly because of time constraints and partly because it's not part of their job description.

We are funding this whole project from our own pockets and from the proceedings of our mining rigs which have been mining Muniti from the very start. The secret is to follow the most efficient route possible, not the cheapest one - we're building one block at a time and that is saving us a huge amount of time and money. We're not asking for donations because we prefer having people promoting Muniti out of their own pure will and perhaps donating something for the furtherance of such promotion, rather than centralizing all promotion and have it stem from our team only. That's why we constantly encourage you to spread the word and let others know about us.

CoinOpend has been removed from the OP and from the website as it has been confirmed as a scam.
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MUN] Muniti: First touristic cryptocurrency - X11, D2D - real promotion! on: April 29, 2014, 05:34:56 PM
I too have been mining since the start and I dont plan on dumping my coins, but instead when this coin reaches sufficient adoption I would love to visit Malta to spend my Muniti.

In fact crypto offers fantastic opportunity for tourism, particularly international.  Think about it, no need to exchange currencies and be charged insane conversion rates, no waiting in lines at currency exchanges, trying to add up how much of the local current you will end up with, no need to carry around large amounts of physical currency, or traveler cheques.  Just sit in your home at your computer and convert your BTC into the locally accepted cyrpto, load them onto your mobile wallet and off you go.

You don't see the contradiction there?
Why not just use BTC!
Rather than exchanging dollars for Euros you've exchanged BTC for Munti. Hardly a brave new world.

If you take the time to read the recent Muniti news and the OP, you will realise that you can now buy Muniti directly with Euro; no need to buy BTC first anymore.

If you read the post I was quoting, the point I was making should be clear.
Whether you start with BTC or Euro, you have in no way avoided exchanging currencies.

On that point you are correct, however I was referring to your original reply wherein you stated that one might as well exchange fiat currency for BTC rather than Muniti.

Ah, that isn't what I meant. I meant that if you already had BTC, why not just spend those, rather than convert to Munti and spend that.
One of the few tangible benefits of cryptocurrencies over 'real' ones is the ability to transfer and spend funds worldwide with no exchange fees. The idea of having separate cryptocurrencies for each country removes that completely.

To a certain degree that is true, but in your argument there is one glaring omission: adoption and integration/implementation. With BTC's current progress, it will take at least a decade before it becomes truly mainstream and usable in daily life. The main reason behind such a handicap is distribution; very few people are ready to take the big gamble and burden themselves with all the costs for turning their store into a fully-fledged BTC-friendly shop, and that is because they do not know what Bitcoin truly is, let alone its benefits and uses. Through Muniti's D2D spreading of a percentage of the coins available, we can assure that people here in Malta do learn about cryptocurrencies with a "sample" of the same cryptocurrency in their hands, absolutely for free. They will be able to learn about cryptocurrencies in a niche environment i.e. focusing on Muniti only, without the confusion of having to deal with an onslaught of news, updates, threats and promises when it comes to Bitcoin. True - as you correctly said, a whole influx of cryptocurrencies negates the benefit of one system replacing all the other systems; but after all, is it set in stone that Bitcoin will become the one major cryptocurrency that everyone will use?

Over the past week, we have been in talks with AA Casino, a Maltese company which specialises in online gaming and management of physical/virtual casinos. They were the ones to approach us first, safely affirming the fact that local promotion is strengthening and growing rapidly. They are very much interested in our project and would like to promote it through their extensive network, both on a national and international plane.

World-renowned footballer, Javier Zanetti, has been appointed as a brand ambassador for Malta:

Today we were busy putting up 10 posters in various spots around the island

A treasure hunt! Interesting idea!

I suppose this could even become a sponsored/regular event, would fit with the Touristic theme well: spread portions of a private key in touristic locations, give historic clues to find them, etc.

Indeed, that would be a fantastic idea. As far as we know, we're one of the very few cryptocurrencies who are reaching out to people in the real world and letting them know about this novel concept. Contrary to 99% of the other coins out there, we are bridging the huge gap between what's virtual and what's real.

Another week, another step towards the initial distribution of Muniti. This week, we have prepared something really interesting for those who are currently in Malta at the moment. Today we were busy putting up 10 posters in various spots around the island, which are the same as the promotional posters we have recently put up except that they are not as visible and they have a particular sign on them; or rather, a signature. Our marketing guru, Richard Spiteri, signed these 10 posters for a specific purpose. If anyone manages to find these 10 posters, take a picture of them (together with their location) and send them to muniticoin@gmail.com, they will win a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 with 2 years' worth of local warranty. Of course the prize is reserved for whoever sends them first. Second place will get 3000 MUN, while third place will get a Muniti USB and a Mionix gaming mouse.

Who said that Mondays should all be blue?

We're also pleased to say that a prominent local magazine has featured us on their website:

http://www.thirdeyemalta.com/#!Muniti-Maltas-own-Bitcoin/cmbz/D69EC27A-444B-4169-863B-5CE2072F8E9E

The word's picking up nicely!

Is there someone Chinese-speaking who can open a QQ group and be willing to manage it and promote it? We will offer a substantial bounty for this.
I have a QQ group I will extend his QQ 340870783, this is my mother and my wallet address: mGwJp517PDnaqXTtDvW2SrDw98wNu2c4DS

Thank you daofu002 - once we verify the group, we will contact you regarding the bounty.

things seem a little quiet the last couple of days.  Any updates radi324?

As promised, there's a nice update regarding local promotion coming up later on today. We are just ensuring that everything is in place before announcing it.

hey there

i got a problem. have connection with muniti network but it didnt sync since 29h ago.

any changed? what should i do

Hello iqacid. Nothing changed, however what I suggest is this:

1. Backup your wallet.dat to another location
2. Type %appdata% in your Windows Search, and click on the appdata folder
3. Delete your Muniti folder in your appdata, not the one where you have the qt-file (the executable wallet)
4. Run the wallet again (Qt)
5. Allow the wallet to fully sync with the network
6. Once it is synced, exit the wallet
7. Go to your wallet.dat backup, copy it, and replace it with the new wallet.dat which you have in the appdata folder
8. Run the wallet (Qt) again and you should see everything back to normal.

it sorted by following your suggestion.

thanks alot

Not a problem, we're here to help!

P2pool node still working here: http://p2poolcoin.com:30619

And now, everyone can make a node and spread the hashrate with the source code here:
https://github.com/linked67/p2pool-mun

This source code link should be in the first post to have many nodes created very fast.
Post the p2pool source code link on the first post with the pool list.
It's better to have p2pool to spread the hash power.

You're right, OP has been updated. Thanks linked67

Here's the great news we promised you - you can now buy Muniti directly with Euro without the need to buy BTC first. This is another crucial step towards ensuring that Muniti becomes used as the first touristic cryptocurrency in the world, for the lovely island of Malta.
