101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: September 11, 2014, 05:06:51 AM
take it down...

I'm getting really sick of these dudes.

it's really quite fascinating price action, or inaction, one might say.

to my mind, they're blocking walls.  someone needs to keep the price down.  but yeah, they seem to have an endless supply of coins.  the good news is that the buyers are getting bolder and buying up everything right up to the edge of the large ask walls.  the spread, instead of increasing, is decreasing as buyers get more comfortable knowing that the ask walls aren't going to suddenly market sell and wipe out the bid side.  buyers are slowly eating them away and it's just a matter of time.

The manipulators must react to the change in buyer sentiment if they're going to continue their game.  If you can see the change, then they can as well.  Like you said, they seem to have a hell of a lot of coins, and if walls don't scare the crowd anymore, they might resort to flash dumps.

103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 11, 2014, 01:46:00 AM
What I am interested in, is why Poloniex took XMR on? It threw out the second alt, replaced it with XMR, and then suddenly gave it all these extra markets that LTC never got.

Maybe LTC is just so shit, yet I'm sensing low volume on XMR markets, and as a "guess", lower than LTC  had (please don't include the LTC/XMR trade at the moment as a counter argument. that existed anyway.

Hmm ... maybe I'll buy some IFC, and trade it for XMR.

Then I intend to invest everything in XMR, get some leverage and shit. Gavin Anderson/Andersson once said BTC needed to be more private, so there is clear proof that XMR will make us all rich.

Weren't you totally raging against XMR a little while back?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 10, 2014, 10:52:30 PM
So any ideas what all the buy walling was about this morning?  Seems to be dissipating and the price didn't really move a whole lot.

I'm a bit confused here, can I do anything with my coins right now or do I have to wait for a new wallet rebuild, and then resync first?
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2014, 05:59:45 AM
This may be a dumb question, but I'm genuinely curious why people put up huge ask/bid orders far beyond where the price will likely go in the near future. For example, the 18,000 XMR sell order at 0.008 on poloniex. Beyond the obvious reasons, what are they hoping to accomplish?

The most obvious explanation tends to be the right one.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 03, 2014, 05:46:37 AM
InfoFront's Daily AltCoin Observation: Boolberry has one of the worst names of any altcoin. Based on that fact alone, it has an approximately 0% chance of success.
This has been brought up in their thread countless times. I think CZ has some kind of emotional attachment to the name. Boolberry: because I want a currency that could reasonably be mistaken for fruit.

'Boolberry' is a great name.  It's distinct, memorable, and playful, with a pun in there for math nerds, just like 'Google.'

The logo is also very sweet and much better than Monero's boring 'serious professional' orange/grey nastiness.

But please keep complaining about it, because the more publicity BBR gets the more valuable my stack becomes!   Cool

I though I was the only one who felt that way about the name.

25k will probably hold and we'll see a nice price soon. Cobain probably re-entered aswell as some other whales.

Viacoin is a special coin, and I didn't even mention the limited XCH conversion.

115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin ARG?!? Did someone just oust Coin_Artist on her own article? on: September 02, 2014, 07:31:04 PM
Well, the link to the genesis block is in the first set of parenthesis.  So I'm assuming placing "x" in a parenthesis is marking another block.

VIA + ETH is a rumor a troll strated when making a joke on the #viacoin IRC channel about VIA getting acquired.  What is not a rumor, and where it started, is that an ethereum dev has been contributing to the code.  Someone finally noticed the Ethereum dev had been making commits on VIA Github.

Thank you very much! Finally an answer that makes sense!

Yes, this is what I was looking for, thanks masternode.

Ok Etherium + Via?   Via acquired? Get me up whats going on?

I'm pretty sure Via was not acquired. You have to read who posted what in that Chat.

Would someone pls explain what's going on?  Drak? Anyone?

Any other ideas of how to scale a crypto-currency to beyond 10 million users within 3 years or less from launch?

Build it into a game that becomes a massive hit. Unfortunately I don't know any way to engineer a game that is a massive hit. They all seem to be black swans. Most often designers of very successful games who try to repeat their success fail and end up being one hit wonders. Maybe that is not universal though, I'm not sure.

Installments of an already-successful franchise can get wide distribution but you will need to pay for that, so it comes back to advertising (a form of product placement in this case).

Have it stamped official by a government.

Have it backed by a major corporation. Like for instance any major fast food or coffee retailer.  Possibly an industry as a whole.

Get a celebrity or team of celebrities to not only endorse but actively promote.

In all of these options killer one click apps for phones and computers are a must.

Ease of purchase online and in the real world.  No waiting 4 days for approval or whatever, no finger print scanning, dna verification, rectal examinations or selling souls to malevolent entities.

XMR ... 10 million users in 3 years...

But doesn't Bitcoin only have around 1million users atm after 5 years?

I think a rolling window of active users is a better reference on this.  XMR is growing much faster than BTC.  I expect it to overtake BTC in 3 years.

 Being this high...

Still hope you're right though!  Grin

Damn, they are forbidding me from posting again. Bye.
I take some comfort in knowing that your loved ones are looking out for you.

Heh, the Martyr Complex is quite strong in this one.

I think the reasoning goes something like this:

Prophets are always persecuted, genius is always misunderstood.  AM is a genius and a prophet, so he is both persecuted and misunderstood.

Oh, poor little him!  How the cryptosphere weeps!  Even Master Satoshi, ascendent in exulted Bit-Valhalla, sheds a tear...   Cry

Anonymint is definitely a strange bird but be nice to him!  I enjoy reading his posts, some are very educational.
