1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GMail account password changed - Used on MtGox on: June 19, 2011, 10:37:59 PM
Yes about 60k people are now at risk of getting their life work stolen because MtGox should be put to jail or guillotine as some others have suggested but im not sure about that
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox isn't "resetting the price" god you guys are dumb on: June 19, 2011, 10:35:11 PM

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Full Disclosure] ClearCoin CSRFs on: June 19, 2011, 10:33:25 PM
Who trusts Gavin anyway?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So what should we do about our mtgox accounts? on: June 19, 2011, 10:31:27 PM
My advice is to stay awake until it opens and then withdraw all immedietally
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help Preserve The Value... on: June 19, 2011, 10:24:31 PM
A bankrun on MtGox will cause them to go Bankrupt.. they are on Fractional Reserve with Bitcoins.. They don't have them.

Selling for USD then withdraw the USD funds is the safest option, especially when you can sell at 17.5$ and buy at 12$ at other xchs
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / MtGox fools don't know SQL Prepared Statements. Guess which query was used! on: June 19, 2011, 09:59:15 PM
I guess it was something like this fill in the change password form or something.

Quote
'SELECT * FROM accounts;--

What do you think?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker Had Access for 3 Days?! on: June 19, 2011, 09:56:03 PM
Sucks for all those that got hacked anyway. It won't get rollbacked 3 days will it? Nope.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox UPDATE on: June 19, 2011, 09:53:07 PM
So now you are acknowledging the situation and providing updates but what about an inclusion of a simple apology/saying "We're Sorry" to your customers, is that too much ?  Huh

Big risk in acknowlidging you are wrong. So they won't say they are sorry.

It'd be like saying "Im guilty" in court.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHERE ARE THE MODS? DELETE THE *($# LINK TO THE ACCOUNT DUMP on: June 19, 2011, 09:36:36 PM
Why?

This is Bitcoin. No regulation, no protector. The people are in control.

Get used to it.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Since when was mtgox the regulartory agency for btc? on: June 19, 2011, 09:28:35 PM
Because early bitcoin guys liked to trade Magic The Gathering cards.

But yeah I agree MtGox should be shutdown or refund millions $ to people who lost because of this.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LEAKED MT. GOX ACCOUNT DATABASE (CSV FILE) on: June 19, 2011, 09:25:25 PM
These fucking clowns should have stuck to selling magic the gathering cards.

true that Cheesy
12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: URGENT: What is next and legitimate on MtGox after the security issue? on: June 19, 2011, 09:07:48 PM
What's your suggestion?

SELL

That's mine.
Don't sell, bitcoin wasn't compromised.

But bitcoin doesn't have to suffer from Mt Gox problems.

I've heared only good things of Trade Hill.

It's great time to close your Mt Gox account and move somewhere else to make it clear that such a poor-secured service is not acceptable.

I agree with this. Mt Gox is responsible here. Mt. Gox needs to pay up. Something like this could realistically kill BTC if people see things like this are possible and exchanges dont back them up.

I agree.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any Sort of punishment-tracking for the hacker ? on: June 19, 2011, 09:05:12 PM
I would rather look at MtGox owners. They should take the losses, not rollback.

And refund the guy who lost 500k bitcoins. With a few million $.

They are breaking exchange laws with what they are doing now, they can be put in jail.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL mtgox password has been compromised, change asap, everywhere you used it on: June 19, 2011, 09:04:00 PM
If the salt hasn't been compromised, then the passwords should be safe, no?
It's not entirely clear if the attacker got access to the Mt.Gox source code, but at the moment it's probably safer to assume the salt was compromised as well.
there is no >the salt< in this case it's 59231 password hashes with 59219 >different< salts. and ~1700 simple md5 hashes.

well look at what some of the users have in there rigs and there are programs like Extreme GPU Bruteforcer out there that can do up to 700million passwords a sec on a geforce 250 and with what people here have in there rigs it would not take long at all.
we're talking about md5crypt a.k.a MD5(Unix) a.k.a. FreeBSD MD5 ...not simple md5()!
with a decent gpu you'll be lucky to get ~1.5Mhash/s per gpu, not 700M. On a single HD4870 i'll get ~640.0k/s , that's nothing.
anything else than a wordlist attack is pretty useless on these hashes. so if you have a at least decent 8char pass, you should be fine.
if you're one of the poor guys, who's pass was encrypted with simple md5()...well good luck then. but the rest shouldn't worry too much.

however everyone still should change his password when they are back online

Except that an account with 500k and other accounts were hacked and it's true. So you're opinion that it's all ok is bs.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 interesting replies found at mtgox website about the rolling back on: June 19, 2011, 09:01:11 PM
MTGOX IS NOW NAKED SHORT ON BITCOINS. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE BITCOINS IT SAYS IT DOES

THEY ARE MANIPULATING THE MARKET BY NOW SETTING THE PRICE TO 17.51

but how do you know this?

I know this because people have withdrawn bitcoins from MtGox to their personal wallets (look around people said this on this forum).

This means MtGox no longer has the Bitcoin it's supposed to have.

MtGox should not rollback, but instead continue and refund the hacked accounts who lost bitcoins.

If they rollback they should be put in jail for breaking the law. This is not how exchanges are allowed to function by law.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Mt Gox just like the HYIPs out there? on: June 19, 2011, 08:50:56 PM
In my opinion the MtGox owner(s) have to be put to jail for this. This is against the law.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DOWNLOAD LINK FOR MTGOX COMPROMISED ACCOUNTS CSV on: June 19, 2011, 08:30:27 PM
If they cant get the passwords because they're hashed, then... ummm, how did they do it?

What do you think Bitcoin miners are doing? Cracking hashes.

What do you think the passwords are protected with? Hashes.

So it's easy to crack hashes passwords, takes a few minutes per password, as long as it takes to crack a new Bitcoin block (about 10 minutes) is how long it takes to crack a hashed password.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I be worried about this? on: June 19, 2011, 08:28:50 PM
Don't you realize Bitcoin is done for? It's over.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Mt Gox just like the HYIPs out there? on: June 19, 2011, 08:23:23 PM
Yes if it's $1000 worth of Bitcoin stolen at 0.01 price then it's goodbye for sure
