1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Can bitcoin save the world? on: April 30, 2014, 10:10:44 AM

A great idea, but it will probably go nowhere due to lack of funding.

Do you think there should be a website where you can donate Bitcoin/ other cryptos to the renewable technology you think is most interesting?

The website could then rank the technologies in order of funding achieved and have a news feed of all the emergent ideas.

a few questions:

1. What kind of security would a website like that need to have?

2. How would you get all the scientists from different backgrounds to sign up?

3. How much funding would you likely need to get something like this off the ground? (I know an excellent professional graphic designer who will design the page for free)

..after all some leading climate scientists (Guy Mcpherson is one) are now only giving us until mid-century if we dont change things fast.

I dont see how the price would drop, who would sell for less in this market?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Quick question regarding Maxcoin launch on: February 05, 2014, 10:06:39 AM
Ok it launches at 7:30pm GMT

When will some coins be available to trade? if i was mining, I would hold off for a while, and i wouldnt sell for cheap.

So is this coin going to start trading at a high price? will there be any cheap coins to buy early?

Why is there so much hype about NXT in the newbie forums?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin or litecoin on: January 09, 2014, 02:20:19 PM
But basically it comes down to innovation right?

Those coins that are technologically superior, and perhaps truly decentralised, anonymous and protected from 51% attack will be the ones we use in the future..

.. because when the big financial institutions and governments eventually fight back, we'll need something the NSA and others cant hack.

Or.... are these just a big ball of assumptions and Coinye will be huge because its funny! Grin

What do you recomend right now, just as a matter of interest?

Can we really determine which currency is better without any knowledge of cryptography or programing?  Sad
