1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% to Orphan-Charity | RANDOMX MINING | Sanctuaries (Masternodes) on: April 06, 2020, 06:58:41 PM

Ok, I see the problem; people without avatars are being blocked;  we fixed this once but it got reverted somehow;  Now either account should work again;  Please try again.

Yes, I have set up 2FA now and confirmed it worked. A few test cases I tried out:

1) Set up 2FA in foundation. Log out of everything. Sign in to foundation and be prompted for 2FA
1a) Enter wrong info, it is correctly rejected
1b) Enter right info, I get in.
2) Sign out again, sign into forum, then click the "foundation" link. Now I am "Guest" again until I enter my 2FA pin.

Seems like it is doing what it should, at least from my basic tests.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% to Orphan-Charity | RANDOMX MINING | Sanctuaries (Masternodes) on: April 06, 2020, 10:58:22 AM

So we still need some testers to test the 2FA, I see we have a little bit of testing but I think everyone forgot to finish.

I'm struggling with the SSO on foundation.biblepay.org - no matter what I do when I login, it just takes me back to the homepage with a "Default?redir=0#" URL and insists I am not logged in. If I log into forum first (which works fine) and then hit the foundation link at the top, I am sent to foundation as a guest, where I then encounter the same behavior. This happens no matter the duration of my "stay logged in" field OR if I check the checkbox to be permanently logged in. I tried on multiple browsers, including an incognito mode test.

As a result, I can't access foundation account settings to add 2FA

I am choosing to say publicly a few things, and I will say a few others in private. I was just looking today about returning, and I'm sad to see that this community still seems to be at odds, and unable to truly work together as a unified force.

That said, my personal public opinion is that while not all dirty laundry needs aired, I wish there wasn't so much deleting. I think the record is capable of standing for itself, and I see no issue with leaving dissenting or disagreeing bgg points of view up. Conversations that should be private can and should of course be taken there as quickly as possible, but when I see a thread with 330+ deletions, that raises more questions than I think is helpful.

Just my two cents. As always, I believe that everyone here supports the mission and wants what is best
If we keep that in mind, many things can be overcome.

Rob -
Thanks for the update and the continued hard work
MIP you have proven yourself to be a great pillar of this community too, and we all really appreciate your dedication and ingenuity.  Looking forward to seeing what comes next for biblepay!

Almost 27M BBP 24h volume on SouthXChange, this is good sign.

Edit: 45M now!
I was just coming here to post this! Incredible day of trading. Congratulations everyone!

I'm getting a bad gateway error on forum.biblepay.org - passing the message along.

It's been a while since we talked about this, but I'd just like to remind everyone that the BBP community has donated more than $150k to charity. It's incredible what has been accomplished here, the lives that have been changed. I'm so proud to be a part of this community with you all.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick reminder for new people here. If you want to buy bbp on an exchange, you better don't use C-CEX. They are scamming people randomly. This results in funds that are lost or you can't login anymore. More info here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418700.4560

For example: I can't visit the site anymore, it's just a blank page that loads, using a different browser doesn't make a difference. However when I'm on cellular with my phone, then I CAN visit the site. That means that my IP is banned.

Best Regards,

Mart  Smiley

Yes, we would be better off not even listed there. Doesn't look good when you are the only coin listed on a failed/scam exchange.

Interesting to find this thread - I only knew about the apparently much smaller "community discussion." I just posted there as well, but I had heard that BBP/GRC was the only thing listed on C-CEX because the founder of those two coins had purchased the exchange from Yuri. I don't know if that is true or not, but as I had mentioned, it makes sense since those are the only coins left on there, and only the BiblePay dev seems to be able to contact "Yuri" at will... Can anyone confirm or deny if that is true? Maybe the dev/founder can, if people know how to reach him?

Well the founder is Rob, he's pretty active here, and he can speak for himself, but I am reasonably certain this isn't the case. If I remember correctly, Yuri liked the humanitarian focus of these coins and had promised to support them as long as he could, which is likely why they are the last 2 altcoins on the exchange. Most of our trading at this point is done on SX, not C-CEX, and I would imagine that if Rob owned C-CEX, he'd be doing what he could to get everyone to use that.

In any event, I've been here almost since the very beginning and I've never seen any such announcement or discussion before. Given that your status is brand new and your only posts are on this, I suspect you are probably an alt account for someone looking to stir up trouble. If I'm wrong then that's my mistake, but I've got to be honest, a few warning bells are going off here.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/POBH CPU Mining *novel* | Sanctuaries on: April 18, 2019, 08:08:03 PM
Not much activity on the proposal forum, so I thought I'd bring it up here....

The Uganda proposal has a surprisingly large number of "No" votes - but not a lot of people explaining why. It isn't required, of course, but I would love to hear thoughts on this from others. I feel like the charity mission is pretty much top of the list in terms of things to fund (other than what is necessary to keep us developing / releasing).

I am curious to know if this is reflective of a community voice against that particular proposal, about the wider mission, etc. - if a lot of people feel strongly, or just a few. What's the current "mood" of the community in terms of our charitable giving/support?

Sometimes the black/white nature of the voting removes discussion, and I find that getting context can be very healthy.

EDIT: I should be clear that this has enough to PASS, but it seems like a hot topic because of both the total # of votes and the split of yes/no.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/POBH CPU Mining *novel* | Sanctuaries on: April 16, 2019, 07:44:15 PM
I appreciate the thought behind the post. I will have to disagree mildly with this part:

" if your post is mean-spirited or bashing on our mission, team, or implementation, just go"

The problem is, who gets to define what "bashing our mission and implementation" is? If the implementation has problems, I say go ahead and bash it. It's when projects only have "yes men" attached, do they truly go off the rails. "Bashing" is really in the eye of those who feel slighted. IMO. the project has made some funky decisions, and it's stirred things up in the community. Am I being negative feeling that way? Maybe.

I'm not suggesting people bring bad attitudes to their posts. I am suggesting that anyone who thinks they know exactly what appropriate criticism is and isn't, is probably not speaking for everybody. The problem is nobody can seem to define the edge where valid criticism becomes unproductive. There's a whole gray area between cheerleading and being slovakia. We should make sure and no alienate anyone who feels alienated, that they are heard. For those that just want to post nonsense let's just smile.

If Christianity and any of us here are so thin-skinned that we can't take some bashing, then maybe our little coin isn't ready for top 200 yet? I don't get why we get so thin-skinned among ourselves, and hope to change the world?

When people get down to "love it or leave it", it's usually a sign of some serious problems. Nobody wants baseless negativity, and nobody really wants censorship either. I'd like to see us take criticism in stride with a genuine smile and interest. Fighting negativity only gives it power. Let the mods do their cleanup, and let's press on.

Thanks for the response.

I agree that there can't be a "love it or leave it" mentality. Calling out problems and mistakes are fine. Making people feel like trash because of it, or saying they suck, or are a joke, or a scam, or don't know what they are doing - that crosses the line to me. I don't THINK we are disagreeing, but yes, if I failed to clarify that it doesn't have to be sunshine and rainbows, let me do that now.

I don't think it is about being thin-skinned, though. Maybe a little, maybe that's fair. But I think it is odd and sad that the more good we try to do, the more negativity is attracted. I know, I know, "haters gonna hate." And sometimes we all make bone-headed mistakes, or bad calls. No point in pretending otherwise.

In any event, I'm trying REALLY hard to live in that gray area you mentioned, I really am.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/POBH CPU Mining *novel* | Sanctuaries on: April 16, 2019, 06:29:54 PM
OK, I admit, I'm a little bit angry. Frustrated. But I've reflected, and prayed, and I feel like I should say something. (I should also say this has nothing to do with Jim's post above, which was much appreciated!)

There is no good to be found in gleeful schadenfreude. In trying to be Christ-like, people may be corrected in love, or even disagreed with sternly. Opinions and voices can get raised. But at no point should we be celebrating hard times or trials that come to another person.

Anyone who does that just doesn't have a place in this community. That's on BCT, discord, reddit, the BBP forum, SX, etc. Can I stop anyone? No, absolutely not. I can't control anyone. But I will say strongly and pleadingly that hate doesn't belong here. No one should defame another, no one should wish ill will on a group trying their best to serve Christ, even if it is happening in a way that isn't what you would do.

If you don't like the policies, or the changes, or the price, or the roadmap, or the people, then I don't know why you're here. To stir up trouble? To shame people into change? I don't know, but I can't stay silent.

Please, if your post is mean-spirited or bashing on our mission, team, or implementation, just go. Get involved in another coin, another mission. Challenging is fine, debating is fine, but I just can't see any value in celebrating hard times or spreading rumors. It helps nobody. Not you (if you are a holder now, at least), not those who benefit from the charitable donations, and not those interested outside parties who might learn more about Christ through our community.

I'm going to suggest something that probably won't be popular...but it's a suggestion nonetheless. In times of great disappointment, personal conflict, etc I would recommend the following steps:
1) Talk to God about it, honestly. Tell Him you're upset, that you're hurt, that what the other person did hurt you.
2) Ask Him to help you see in the other person what He sees. Ask for help to forgive. Admit that you may have hurt the other person in ways you don't recognize.
3) Admit that you don't know how to reconcile the situation, and that you can't change the other person. Ask God to work in your heart, and in the other party's, to be a better reflection of Him to the world.
4) Pray that the other person gets what you feel they lack. Do they lack wisdom? Are their hearts pointed in the wrong direction? Are they quick to anger and slow to listen, hard-headed? Petition Him to make the other person more complete, more whole, and more joyful. Pray that they receive the fruits of the spirit and that God would draw them close.
5) Ask for an opportunity, divinely provided, for you to be a part of the change, in the way that God would want. Ask too for Him to work powerfully in you, and for Him to do the things in you that only He can.
6) Ask for peace of mind. Ask that God would take the hurt and anger, and allow you to rest in the Creator's goodness.
7) Wait. God's work isn't done on command, in seconds. He works His way, in His time. Rest and take comfort in Him.

I'm also going to throw out a non-biblical reference to the serenity prayer, that old standard. Serenity, peace - accepting that we can't change certain situations (or people) ourselves. Courage to take steps to be our best, to make amends when necessary, to look deeply at ourselves. And Wisdom - God's wisdom, not man's - to understand what is "our" problem to solve, and what is "His."

I wish you all the healing and comfort of a God who forgives all, and grants the peace promised in Romans 5:1.

Excellent summary! I added a note in the talk page - travelling this week and don't have time to contribute the way I want to, but I'm willing to jump in on that when I return.

I think a few €uros more per month. Next round, if I'm still around and want to participate in BBP, I can ask. Otherwise, Rob can pay the BTC himself directly or put the proposal in himself. I don't think you should have to pay $40/mo to host explorer.biblepay.org though... Not fair to you and not a good value in terms of cost.

Maybe I missed something, but it seems kind of weird to just say that any one person in the community should "pay the BTC himself directly" as a funding option - right? I mean, if it's an explorer for the community, I would think that a proposal is the way to go, allowing the community to vote on if we want an explorer without ads, and if so, if we are willing to pay. I'd love to see more and more features get created, and more community outreach and involvement, but I don't think it works if we put funding decisions or upfront on any one person (even if it is the person who is making the thing).

If I misread that, my bad, happy to be corrected.

Exciting to see what the summer brings for us, especially as interest in crypto (in general) tends to go up as the reference value (Bitcoin) increases. If that continues together with our new rebase and new features, it could be a great back half of the year for BBP. I'd love to see new users from a different user base / population segment, and to widen our impact on the world!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/POBH CPU Mining *novel* | Sanctuaries on: March 26, 2019, 05:23:35 PM

Its probably good that it finally came out in public anyway, as what is a little more redicules, is having people who claim to be *for* BBP secretly holding back so much anger and hatred, and consistently posting inaccurate info here on this board.

I always found it extremely disheartening to log into this board and see a page of hate, and I thought, what kind of intelligence does it take to bash our own Lead Dev, our own community and then expect the price to rise?  To hurt our orphans and to contribute negatively to our image.

At least in other communities Ive seen the common sense to keep negativity and personal views out of public discussions and proofread posts before clicking the POST button, not start public fights and create turmoil on a regular basis.

So hopefully you agree that this is all true also?

I agree. I've posted several times about not wanting to come to this board to see vitriol, disagreements, bashing of the coin (or our team members, which OF COURSE includes you and MIP), or weird iamges of naked demon girls, or whatever.

I don't want to start a fight. I don't want to join a fight. I don't particularly care if there IS a fight, but I don't want the first thing that people see whenever they click any of our links to be a fight. Our Discord, our ANN thread, our exchanges, our reddit, whatever - let's keep it clean and on-mission.

For my PERSONAL perspective, in case I have confused or hurt anyone...

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I attach extremely significant value to the work Rob and MIP are doing, to the vision that they have, and to the dedication that they both bring to this project and the mission to carry God's word to the masses via our charity sponsorships and other features.

That's the bottom line, period. Anyone who understands anything different about my opinion is confused or wrong. If that's a situation I've created, then I thank you for bringing it to me and allowing me to clarify.

I don't mean this as "taking a side" - nobody is perfect. But if I didn't support the team and the mission, I wouldn't be here at all, and I'd like to think other people have the same option and the good sense to make the same choice.

Now people who genuinely care, and have issues/comments/concerns should be able to raise them in a RESPECTFUL way and get a RESPECTFUL answer. Nobody's perfect, and in many interactions between many different people (myself included, probably) there have been failures there on many sides. That's part of the human element, and moving past it is part of growth.

I for one refuse to join in any more of this - I'll talk about features, roadmaps, adoption, reports, transparency, and promotion. About gratitude and when necessary uncertainty. I commit myself to being a part of solidarity and growth and not division and anger.

Not thrilled to log in to the SX exchange and see the entire chat log filled with fights between BBP community members. Seriously....as much as I'd love it if we'd STOP fighting, if we won't...could we at least contain it? Find a dedicated forum where everyone can get crabby with each other and keep that stuff off of public exchanges?

Here's a good rule - if it isn't news about the coin, it doesn't need to be on "external" sites.

Disagree with each other, with the plans, with the hearts of people or whatever else - if we must - but do it somewhere that non-BBP people won't see. This makes us look ridiculous.

Economics in the reddit sidebar are still PODC-based. We should probably align to the new ANN post.

Hmmm, I noticed on my mobile phone the old version was cached,
on PC you can click ctrl + shift + R to do a hard reload of the page,
let me know if that works
Right you are. How embarrassing for me. Smiley

I have a difficult time even fathoming why such a post would be made. Just to make people angry? I'm not here to see stuff like that - banned or not, that's not appropriate for this community.

Edit: post in reference has been deleted. Thanks mods
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: March 14, 2019, 10:11:09 PM

Did you see how the mean spirited individual took this out of context and tried to imply we are smaller by pointing fingers, etc, instead of looking at what we can do to grow?

I see the context of this post as positive, it means all of the lazy armchair whiners are who helped cause us to shrink, or possibly people leaving because of the low price.

Either way it would be nice to form a solid group with the Holy Spirit to propel us forward.

Yes, there is always a possibility for us to pull together and be greater than the sum of our parts. What kind of activities could we be doing that would spread the message and improve our impact?
