I would bet that the "Security algorithm enhancement" is the fix but I have not heard an official comment...

Yes, this issue has been fixed long time ago. Version 2.0.2 is secure and stable, as always. More info here:
https://bytecoin.org/news/bytecoin-2.0.2-software-update/

Bytecoin v2.0.2 is available here: https://bytecoin.org/downloads/

Bytecoin forked.
Minergate and Hitbtc are on the one branch
Democats and Poloniex are on the other.
The Bytecoin v1.0.11 daemon syncs to the Democats (and poloniex) blockchain.

Edit: the fork block:
http://democats.org/blockchain/block/?name=bytecoin&hash=1185958
https://minergate.com/blockchain/bcn/block/1185958

Most likely this happened as some of the services still did not manage to upgrade the software. Bytecoin released a new version in the very beginning of January, and we notified every single service by e-mail that the upgrade is crucial to keep everything going like clockwork.

Minergate is currently using the right chain, while Democats should upgrade their software at its earliest.

So what does this mean? No activity in this topic for 8 days + massive dumps going on.

Bytecoin community has their own forum now: https://bytecointalk.org/
And that explains the dumps how exactly?

It explains lack of activity in this topic.

Hi guys. Thanks for developing i2p exchange, it's very valuable idea.
Do you mind adding other cryptocurrencies soon? Will you add Bytecoin BCN (https://bytecoin.org/) or other CryptoNotes (XDN, Dashcoin and so on)? If you need help with implementing them we are always glad to support!

P.S. I love the design. So oldschool. It's very similar to Bytecoin's old website (https://bytecoin.org/old/)  Smiley

thanks for your support.

we have been having issues getting cryptonote coin wallets to connect to the network anonymously.  if you can solve that, we would love to add more cryptonote coins.

What kind of problems do you have? I'll try to help.

Also, please, drop a line with a problem description to support@bytecoin.org, contact@bytecoin.org or https://bytecoin.org/contact/ !

how do i get the bytcecoin wallet to connect to the network over tor? without using a transperant proxy. it doesnt natively support tor like bitcoin based coins do right?

Accordint to the Bytecoin roadmap TOR support is scheduled for release in October. We do everything possible to develop it asap.

Anyone else having problem syncing since last release? I get 0 peers.
Same problem! Win7 x64

Still 0 peers problem. Ran out of options and ideas to fix this, specially considering this is the only coin I am facing such issue.

The devs are currently working on the sync issue. Please, stay assured they do everything possible.

What is Bytecoin devs' take on this (read the whole linked post):

In my opinion, this is an emergency fix because afaics the anonymity is broken as it is now, but I can't say that I've done any deep analysis on how likely the unmasking is on existing patterns in the Monero block chain.

Is Bytecoin affected by the same issue, and if it is, how serious/negligible it is?

Hi, illodin. Of course, if two of three signatures are deanonimized it is possible to deanonimize the third too.  But the solution is very easy:  just use larger mixin_count. BTW, the default value in Bytecoin wallet is 6.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / A Cryptocurrency Collaboratibe Blogging Plaform on: June 18, 2015, 10:02:56 PM

Hello, everybody!

I'd like to announce a brand new Cryptocurrency Blogging Platform http://bytecoiner.org/

Supported by the Bytecoin Community members in the first place, Bytecoiner.org is now a blogging platform, where anyone can start his own technology-oriented blog, or just submit an article. So far, some of us started to cover other news and topics, somehow related to the realm of Crypto. And we'd also like to widen the list with the topics on:

- Cryptography
- Cryptocurrencies
- IT start-ups
- Digital Products
- Economics and Finance
- Business perspectives

The list is not exhaustive, so if you have any somehow related idea you want to share and discuss, you are welcome to register and write about it.

For the time being, we seem to gain readers, but it's not the point. The point is to collaborate and unite into a new Community, full of people inspired by crypto in particular, and technologies on the whole. A Community, where anyone can share his own cryptosense, discuss it, collaborate with others to implement some business ideas and so on.

Decentralized ideas need decentralized community channels that may provide actual news, thoughts and forecasts. Let us be the first channel to do that.

Best posts will be stuck on top of the main page and the authors will be rewarded by the Bytecoin Community (we are still working out the exact strategy).

So, if you are any interested, welcome on board! Just register http://bytecoiner.org/register-2 and start your own crypto-blog.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in this thread or via PM.
You can also contact me via E-mail: drstrange.m@gmail.com
Bytecoiner.org e-mail: info@bytecoiner.org

PS any ideas on the design and content of the site would be pretty helpful as well.

Hi everyone!

I'm writing to remind of a new version of the Bytecoin Community website, that we have released about a month ago http://bytecoiner.org/

The idea of the site has changed significantly. Bytecoiner.org is now a blogging platform, where anyone can start his own technology-oriented blog, or just submit an article. So far, some of us started to cover other news and topics, somehow related to the realm of Crypto. And we'd also like to widen the list with the topics on:

Decentralized ideas need decentralized community channels that may provide actual news, thoughts and forecasts. Let us be the first channel to do that.

Best posts will be stuck on top of the main page and the authors will be rewarded by the Bytecoin Community.

Tell your friends and comrades, let's build a better cryptocommunity together.

Hi guys i am new here. Can you explain how its going with this coin? Good, bad? Still developing? Thanks.

Everything is going great so far! The development is an unstoppable process for Bytecoin, just as it should be for a promising cryptocurrency. You can find the 2015 roadmap here http://bytecoin.org/roadmap/

Exchange rate shows a good trend http://bytecointalk.org/showthread.php?tid=13

Payment gate is on the way and will be announced later.

Also, you can download binaries and GUI from the official website http://bytecoin.org/downloads/

If you're into mining or trading or need to know more on how to use Bytecoin, visit http://bytecoiner.org/, chances are high you will find everything you need. All fresh news and guides are always published there as well.

If you have other questions or have some idea and want to discuss it with the community, go http://bytecointalk.org/, which is Bytecoin forum. This thread is also monitored by the Community members and the devs, but you will get a quicker respond on bytecointalk.org.

See you there  Wink

Hello to those who are still watching this thread.

Below is a copy of the original OP from bytecoin forum http://bytecointalk.org/showthread.php?tid=39&pid=116#pid116

As promised earlier, we have finally developed a new version of Bytecoiner.org, which is known as Bytecoin Communtiy Site. The new version inherits all of the previous features and sections (yet, some sections and features are under construction).

The global idea of Bytecoiner.org has not been changed, though got some absolutely new features. First of all, now it is not only a website that covers the news of the Bytecoin world, but also a platform for collaborative blogging. It means that anybody can start his own blog on Bytecoiner.org, and there's a huge amount of cryptocurrency-related subjects to write about: economics, finance, techonologies, coins, start-ups, infrustructural projects and much much more, due to the fact that almost any modern technological project has to deal with enciphering.

There's no doubt that Bytecoin is still the core technology/currency that drove Bytecoiner.org  in the first place. Our key community members will, as always, spread all needed information about Bytecoin and its implementation for the users through news and guides sections (let's also mention that Bytecoin payment gate is on the way, so the market adoption infos are becoming incredibly essential). But the other fresh part of their work will be to administer the renewed resource, attracting and helping new authors to express and share their ideas and projects even if those are not based on Bytecoin.

There are many other issues to be discussed, but in a nutshell I've expressed the idea.

If you want to share your cryptosense, be the first to register on Bytecoiner.org and start your own blog!

UPD: Any ideas on how to develop the website and any other help and participation will be appreciated
