981  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: September 03, 2022, 07:56:03 PM
I just don't think this is worth the attention compared to other risks.
How do we know all the risks of this scam, when we don't even know the full story yet?
Scammers could actually create new website with that domain and lure people do send them bitcoin (in fake exchange), to be eligible for withdrawing fake 0.6 BTC.
I said before that similar tactics was used in fake discord giveaways in last few years.

Police won't just start looking for some one based potential risk, at least that's how it would work in my country (or it did until a few weeks ago.)  Unless someone reports being defrauded, and it's specifically linked to that address, nothing is likely to happen.  Then there's the amount of the fraud; if only one person reports being defrauded for a small amount then the police won't give it much resources.  Also, it appears this scam has only netted about $2500 of bitcoin, that's probably not enough to warrant a high degree of concern.  And that's assuming the funds that moved through the wallet were scammed, they could have been put there as bait.

Besides, most police departments have much bigger priorities, and far more dangerous individuals to pursue.

Oh, come on.  Van Dijk was looking at the ball when he stepped on Onana's ankle.   Cheesy  Cheesy

Looks like City is going to leave points on the pitch.  They've been dominating even though they're obviously playing without the energy they're known for.
983  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: September 03, 2022, 05:42:40 PM
I think Man City are too strong & they’ll win the title comfortably. I think it’s all about progression though & Arsenal with Arteta are making big strides. I think for sure they can get top 4 which is obviously CL football. 2nd place is up for grabs, no reason why they can’t get 2nd. City are too strong though, probably the best team in Europa at the moment. Haaland is a monster, nobody can stop him.

City seems to be a bit sloppy in the passing today against Aston Villa.  AV can't seem to take advantage of it, as it seems most of City's mistakes come from "playing it safe."  It looks to me like they're playing this game not-to-lose rather the typical attitude they show.  I should have expected Guardiola to strategize for Seville on Tuesday, and it's been a busy week already.

Over all I tend to agree with you about the Championship.  I would love nothing more than to see Arsenal at the top of the table after 38 matches, but I'm not holding my breath over it.  I still think City and LFC are going to pull it together sooner or later, and you always have to watch out for the Spurs.  It's going to be a busy season for all the top teams this year with the World Cup looming, and I think the PL championship will be decided by the manager who can keep his team rested and healthy.

I do agree with you about Arsenal's ball progression having improved this season.  Their whole presence on the field is noticeably more precise these days.  Arteta is doing a great job, and having Jesus's experience can't be hurting either.

Bet builder for tomorrow's game isn't active just yet.  I'm waiting patiently.

Well, not quite so patiently.

Some body please hurry it up!  Grin

Yeah, Hueristic must have reset it.  The draft order was all wrong.  I thought I was going first, and I was gonna steal Jonathan Tayler.  Cheesy

I know I haven't been keeping up with stuff here but... uhm... are we doing random draft order?
~

Hmm, that's weird.  morvillz7z established the draft order with a blockchain lotter.  Hueristic knows that, there could have been a mistake or something.

Anyway the draft order should be this:
1.  bbc.reporter
2.  Hhampuz
3.  morvillz7z
4.  wheelz1200
5.  DireWolfM14
6.  South Park
7.  nutildah
8.  Hueristic
9.  ChiBitCTy
10. suchmoon

BTW, one member's payment is still pending, he PM'd me and said he'll pay this evening.

Russell Wilson just signed an extension for a quarter of a billion dollars. Totally insane. Sometimes it feels like dollars are play money for rich people. Imagine signing a quarter billion dollar contract. What value would money have after that? How many mansions and luxury cars can you own? The devaluing of dollars is amazing to watch.

I haven't read up on the deal, but usually these fat contracts only have ~50% of the money guaranteed, and the rest is incentive dependent.  Still, that's a quite a lot of dough, for sure.  I'd be happy with a contract for 1% of that, lol.

I've been thinking on the trade issue and what about we remove the veto, keep the 2 day delay and if someone has an issue with a trade we can have a discussion about it in the thread and resolve it there?

That's fine with me.

On Jimmy Garopollo, it might be, however, another reason might also be the 49ers are not yet very confident with Trey Lance. They need to keep Garopollo for at least 1 more year before saying good bye. I speculate that they will need him to start by week 5 heheheheheheee.

Everybody won in that restructuring, in my opinion.  Garoppolo may have taken a $16M pay-cut but he's still on a team, with a "no-trade" clause, which just means he has final say on whether a trade goes through or not.  Taking the pay-cut shows the league's owners that he's willing to negotiate and compromise for the sake of the team.  And ~$7M guaranteed for the year is a damn good deal for a backup.  He also knows he's likely to be offered more if a trade opportunity does present itself, and he will earn more from the 9ers if he ends up having to play.

For the team: they get to start the season with a solid, reliable Ford in the garage while they try out their new Ferrari.  If the Ferrari proves as reliable as the Ford, they'll have a bargaining chip for some future draft picks, and can trade him during the season.
987  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with electrs (romanz) on: September 01, 2022, 04:23:08 PM
Code:
InvalidData on first line may indicate client attempted to connect using SSL when server expects unencrypted communication.

Although this was asked before, I'll come back to this. Are you sure you use a command line like

Code:
electrum --oneserver --server 127.0.0.1:50001:t
..or whatever your IP is?

You are comparing ElectrumX you said it's configured for SSL with Electrs that seems to be asking for non-SSL connection. The command line of the two must differ.
I use Electrs locally without SSL and my config looks pretty much similar with yours (just I use cookie for accessing Bitcoin Core).

Interesting!  Now I feel like I'm going crazy.  I created a desktop shortcut with the command you suggested, and that works just fine.  Now, even if I don't use that shortcut and set the server details manually the client is connecting.  These are the same details I had in the network settings before, but they didn't work, now they are?

Anyway, the issue is now resolved, but I wish I was able to find the root cause.
988  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with electrs (romanz) on: September 01, 2022, 03:25:01 PM
Update:

So I wasn't able to get Electrum client to connect to Electrs, but I'm still having no trouble connecting to ElectrumX which is running on a different server.  I am able to connect Sparrow wallet to both servers.  Both servers are identical with exception that the one I have Electrs on has an i7 processor while the ElectrumX server is equipped with an i5.  Both have 16GB of ram, and running Ubuntu Server 22.04.1.

Here's the log I get from Electrs when I try to connect my Electrum client:

Code:
InvalidData on first line may indicate client attempted to connect using SSL when server expects unencrypted communication.
recv_loop thread failed: 71: recv failed
because: stream did not contain valid UTF-8

Based on this information and the fact that Sparrow wallet can connect to my Electrs server makes me think it might be the client side.  Apparently the client is expecting a SSL encrypted connection, which I didn't think was a necessity.  I purged the Electrs server and tried Umbrel (I'm sold, by the way,) and I'm getting the same results.  The log from Umbrel shows the exact same errors when attempting to connect my Electrum client.

I searched github for similar issues, but didn't find anything that specifically relates to Electrs/Electrum.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I hope you feel better soon, Hhampuz.  My mom says you should drink lots of chamomile tea with lemon and honey.  If you know what's good for you, you'll listen to my mom.  Shocked

@morvillz7z and @Hueristic, yeah I thought we had already discussed the trade timing and veto and stuff.  I totally spaced on that one, and didn't add it to the list of things to vote on.  I remember discussing it briefly and thought everyone agreed that no voting should be done, and no delay needs to be applied.  If two members want to conduct a trade, I don't see why it shouldn't just be decided by those two.

I'll scour the thread to find that discussion and add it to the list, I should be able to do it tomorrow.

As for the transfer part it only takes 5 mins from my end but ill be doxxed too

Since the doxing thing is going to happen anyway, you may want post your request on Reddit's r/borrow board.  Honestly I've never used it, but since most folks there are using PayPal you may not need collateral at all.

Anyway, best of luck.
994  Economy / Lending / Re: Is a domain considered as collateral? on: August 30, 2022, 06:25:21 PM
Would anyone from the big names loan me, and ill make sure the domain transfer goes smooth, I'd be willing to give the lender access to our data too.

I think the collateral example you offered is valid.  As long as the actual domain you provide is as viable you may find a lender willing to work with you.  However, I'm not interested.  It sounds like it'll be a lot of trouble to transfer ownership, and I would end up doxing myself to secure the collateral.  The risk/reward ratio isn't to my liking, so I'll have to pass.

One thing I suggest; if you accept a loan from a newer member use an Escrow agent to hold the collateral.  Of course that may be difficult for the same reasons I don't want to hold the collateral, i.e. doxing one's self.
995  Economy / Lending / Re: Is a domain considered as collateral? on: August 30, 2022, 02:13:34 PM
I'll cover everything and I'll transfer ownership, I'm looking for 0.05 BTC for 1 month maximum and with 10-15% interest rate

How much income does your website generate, and can you prove it?
996  Economy / Lending / Re: Is a domain considered as collateral? on: August 30, 2022, 01:22:48 PM
so for example I own "https://961bet.net" its a business running and I got over 1k users, If i transfer ownership domain or w/e would be possible to get a loan for it for a month or its gonna be hard?

I'm not sure how much that domain is worth, but if it's a profitable business, you may find a lender willing to help.  If I were to issue the loan I would want the ownership of the domain transferred to me, and all expenses for the transfer payed by you.

How much of a loan are you looking for, how long before you plan to pay it back, and what interest rate are you offering to pay the lender?
997  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with electrs (romanz) on: August 30, 2022, 11:36:34 AM
Code:
electrum_rpc_addr = "127.0.0.1:50001"

Wait, I didn't hear you talked about any reverse proxy-ing. How do you set up the tunnelling process for port 50001? Do you run it via Nginx or something?

If you didn't run any reverse proxy, that RPC is only accessible in the device, not on LAN. You can directly use electrum_rpc_addr = "0.0.0.0:50001" config, to make the port exposed on LAN but it's not recommended.

Refer to https://raspibolt.org/guide/bitcoin/electrum-server.html#firewall--reverse-proxy or https://github.com/romanz/electrs/blob/master/doc/config.md#ssl-connection.

No, I didn't install Nginx or any other web server, and I don't have a reverse proxy set up.  I guess I just expected Electrs to work similarly to ElectrumX server without any additional proxy settings.  I also have a self-signed ssl certificate that I use with ElectrunX, but while reading the docs I noticed that Electrs needs Nginx to enable ssl connections.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.  You just gave me one more thing to try before I give up completely and install Umbrel.  Undecided

998  Economy / Lending / Re: Is a domain considered as collateral? on: August 29, 2022, 08:30:20 PM
Hello guys,

I hope everyone is having a good day, i want to ask is a domain considered a collateral? And what else is considered a collateral beside alt coins

Thank you

Generally speaking, no, but it really depends on the lender.  It's nearly impossible to put a value on most of the domains out there, but if you were to offer (for example) "yahoo.com" as collateral, I assume someone would accept it.  The other issue you're going to run into is that the lender wants assurance that the domain cannot be retrieved by the borrower through social engineering.  The only way to do that is by transferring ownership.  Unless you're willing to transfer ownership of the domain to the lender (or an escrow agent) and incur the costs of transferring to and from the lender, then not even "yahoo.com" would be considered as valid collateral.
999  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with electrs (romanz) on: August 29, 2022, 05:20:53 PM
Finally got back to this project (briefly) over the weekend, and made some progress.  I re-compiled Electrs, this time with static link to the database, and figured I'd enable Prometheus even though I have no plans to use it for monitoring.  I know I shouldn't change too many things at once if I want to find the root cause of my issues, but I'm not sure either of those settings had anything to do with my problem.

There is progress, however:  I still cannot connect to Electrs over LAN, but I can through Tor.  This makes me think NotAThether is on the right track:

It is almost definitely related to your firewall.

I can't help but agree at this point.

You should allow all outbound traffic, as it's common for software to open temporary ports, and it might not be able to send anything to you. Alternatively, just whitelist your IP address in the firewall if that's possible.

So, I tried disabling UFW all together, but the issue is still persistent.  What could be causing my outbound traffic to be blocked?

ETA: Figured I dump this recent log entry here, even though I don't see anything concerning:

My vote for prize, winner take all.

I added your proposal and counted your vote for it.

I’m in favor of second place at least getting their buy-in back.

Would you like me to list this as another proposal, or are you okay with 80/20?

The draft time has not changed correct? I believe it was established keeping a few things in mind, one being a have a draft same date and close to the same time.

@ChiBitCTy, @wheelz1200,
Correct, it's still the same that we determined. 11pm GMT, 7pm Eastern Time, 4pm Pacific on September 2nd, this Friday!  There's also a counter at the top of this page.

Also, how was the draft order established? Not sure I saw an answer for that. Thanks !

Yes, the draft order was established by blockchain.  morvillz7z was kind enough to conduct it.  Check the post for the whole lottery, but here are the end results:

I suppose we count the last digit only (letters and duplicate numbers don't count), 10=0? If that's correct here are live updates from the hash lottery:
