What happened is that Ledger had some kind of system malfunction so to save my funds from being lost they diverted it to a complexly different address for safe keeping while the worked to fix the issue. It would have been nice if Ledger would have informed me of what the hell was going on because it looked like a clipboard scam that had been masterfully executed.

Good to know your funds are OK.

But I must say I'm flabbergasted Ledger would do something like that without real time updates plastered over every possible outlet informing everyone what's going on. There could've been millions of dollars' worth gone missing in certain cases and people wouldn't have known what the hell was happening.

I know, unbelievable right... They must have had a serious breach or malfunction for them to take such drastic action without having the time to tell its customers. i'm glad thats what they did if it means it has prevented loss of my BCH but i was in panic mode for days, not a nice feeling. I hope they learn from this.

Its also worth mentioning that the transaction was from one Ledger wallet to another Ledger wallet so this may have been the action taken in this instance but may have been different if it went to a different wallet or company.

It is possible that you are buying used products. or a customized product of the trader? They have replaced and attached the tracking device, on reddit has happened the same case.

I don't think so i my case, i ordered it directly from Ledger with next day delivery, the clear plastic wrap had not been tampered with so i doubt very much this could have been the case.

Great news people, The BCH has arrived in my wallet.

What happened is that Ledger had some kind of system malfunction so to save my funds from being lost they diverted it to a completely different address for safe keeping while the worked to fix the issue. It would have been nice if Ledger would have informed me of what the hell was going on because it looked like a clipboard scam that had been masterfully executed.

Case closed, at least we know if this happens again.

So to confirm i pasted the wallet address, double checked it, confirmed it on the ledger nano s and it went to a different address, if this happens again at least we will know that Ledger must be having some issues...

Thanks again for your replies and help  Grin

https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/8b4ar9/why_is_bch_still_down/

It looks like there's some sort of problem on Ledger's end, though I don't know if that coincides with your issue and whether it's the same one.

Either way head to that forum and ask on there. There's much more knowledge than here and the developers are on there too.

Cheers, they are confirming its sent to the correct address but not seeing it on the receiving end. Mine has gone to a completely different address.

Hi noela1,

There isn't really enough information to diagnose what happened. Note that Bitcoin Cash changed to a new CashAddr format to help people from accidentally sending BTC to BCH wallets and vice versa. A CashAddr format looks like this: bitcoincash:pqkh9ahfj069qv8l6eysyufazpe4fdjq3u4hna323j and the old format looks like this: 35qL43qYwLdKtnR7yMfGNDvzv6WyZ8yT2n. Note that the "bitcoincash:" part of the CashAddr format is optional, but officially supposed to be there, which is probably why your sending wallet displayed it that way.

We need more information to try to see what may have happened by checking a block explorer. You can post your full wallet address here or investigate yourself with a block explorer like this one: https://bitcoincash.blockexplorer.com/

There is no harm in posting public wallet addresses unless you're specifically trying to hide that from someone linking to your particular forum name. I mean nobody can steal funds just by knowing a public wallet address.

Ok so i have done this and can see my exact amount of bitcoin cash sat in this wallet  Angry what do i do from here?

Hi all,

12vjJzdYG5bFKS5LUNtxk9LBFCBx... is the address it was supposed to go to and bitcoincash:qq2jzlv4nfy7ew3y70a0wamn24f3f8j7qy6sw4... is the address it actually went to. This transaction has been confirmed in the sending wallet.
Does the full address change or is bitcoin cash just added to the beginning of an address?
The money isn't in my wallet and that second wallet address isn't mine.

I bought it direct from ledger.

i'd rather not post my full wallet address as i don't know enough about the technical side of things to feel comfortable doing so. I'm quite new to all of this, is there anything i can do to recover these coins?

Hi all,

i'm new to this forum...

I was wondering if you lot could help or if i have lost my bitcoin cash for good...

Using a iMac with the latest software osx high sierra, no other apps were open or anything.

My Nano s has just been opened brand new from the ledger store online. i'm using the correct apps and updated to the latest software without an issue.
I was transferring bitcoin cash between wallets and for a moment a solid 1 pixel line was showing down the left hand side of the screen, i didn't think anything of it and still have no idea if this has anything to do with the a scam.

I copied my address from the receiving wallet and then pasted it into the sending wallet checking the code was right, double checked it and then pressed send... i go to the other wallet to check its receiving but nothing. I go back to the sending wallet and look at the sent address but its different and says bitcoincash:qq2.....(rest of the wallet address).....
After dying inside i pasted the address into notes and it appears to be correct matching the wallet the bitcoin cash was supposed to go to...

Does anyone have a clue what just happened?
