Between a gtx 1660 super and rx580 8gb which one is good for 2022 mining? I heard ETH is going away but I still have interest in mining coins for 2024 sake so I will hold every coins I'm going to make starting from now, which one is the best?
i think is similiar result in profit with differential algo that support, while nvidia is easier to handle, and some people said, nvidia has longer lifespan compared amd,

which is i experienced this in polaris series aka rx 400/500, thats gpu build for value card not highend device, other amd series like tahiti & vega consider high end card

and tend to be longer lifespan
The reason why NVIDIA cards have longer life span than AMD is because Nvidia cards runs cooler than AMD GPUs, they produce less heats than AMD cards and as we know it heat is the real enemy of graphic cards, the lesser the heat the longer its life

What? You canīt say this, it depends from GPU to GPU. My RX6600XTīs running with 15% fan and 48°C. Nvidia RTX cards with GDDR6X have sometimes vram overheat problems.
My old RX570 rigs run now for over 4years without problems, and my Nvidia P106 rigs also.

You can buy a rtx3060ti non LHR for 1300$ in my country as we speak if you get it from wholesalers which will give you 62MH so why buy a GPU that gives 70+MH at 2000$? Feels like a waste of money to me, in fact getting two 1660 super is even better

But 2x 1660 Super need more power and for me these cards have not enough vram. And if you want to sell the cards later, you get more for RTX 30xx cards than for the old 1660 Super
2060 Super are also a good deal -> 45mh@120w for 600€ used cards or 750€ new cards
RTX4000 if you get it cheap -> 38mh@100w for around 600€ used cards

There are many options and each of us has his own strategy.

Kindly explain how two 1660super or ti use more power cos I have these cards and they only draw 50watts using Trex miner and it's absolute core settings very good for power saving so yes they are extremely good GPUs for those who want to safe more power as possible

This cards use more then 50w Cheesy Show me your wattmeter! Or you think that the software reading ist the real power consumption? And nearly all people use higher core clock than i using, and my 1660S need 80w with 1035 core 640mv vgpu.

Google about Hashrate, Power consumption and 1660 Super and show me one other guy who have a proof for 50w and 32mh or more mh on a 1660 Super.

Hello,

I'm new to using Gminer. I used the DL link from Github directly from this forum. I successfully ran the program on 2 rigs starting about 4 days ago. When I went to get it again for my main rig it came up with a warning Trojan:Win32/TrickBot!ml and the infected file was the miner.exe. Is this normal? It didn't pop up on the other 2 downloads from a couple days ago. Just wondering what I should do? Thanks!

If you downloaded it from GMiner's link on the first page you are fine. It happens quite often that antivirus programs give trojan/virus alarms with mining software, but you should always take care where you download your miner from. In other words always download from the link provided by the miner on the first page.

We all are not idiot and know where to download the right gminer software. So let's stop to redirect people where is the right place for downloading. Let's focus to the main question:

Version 2.70 doesn't show viruses but all after that are marked as malware? Why?
Could you share with us which piece of code  is the difference between the versiona and is the reason to be detected as a virus?

I canīt confirm this.

Virustotal say:
2.74 = 17 security vendors flagged this file as malicious
2.70 = 24 security vendors flagged this file as malicious
2.66 = 24 security vendors flagged this file as malicious

So it is normal i think.

Results for the lolminer 1.38 for example show me 29 security vendors and 1 sandbox flagged this file as malicious.

What is the software used for your tests?? I was talking about checking the gminer with Virustotal - check that 2.70 doesn't show viruses but 2.74 shows - this is on Virustotal - that's why I was asked to show the code that make this difference between 2 versions

You read my post? I checked it with Virustotal. All versions a flagged as malicious. You can test every miner and you will get a malicious flag.
Phoenixminer are flagged by 43 security vendors XD

Gminer 2.70 results

here is my result! The difference is because you are using windows version of gminer - I use the linux one! In linux there is difference in version 2.74 and 2.70 ( the first one is flages as virus, 2.70 is clean - check the link). The last Phoenixminer version under linux also doesn't show viruses! I don't care about Windows ( the empire of evil ) it is viruses by default .

Gminer 2.70 results

The point is, the malicious detection can change with every version, because new code inside. T-Rex miner linux version also shows malicious.
You must see the overall point, and not starting Linux and Windows bashing, it is senseless.
Why should they do other stuff in the Linux version than in the Windows version? But you say you don't care about the Windows version, so you don't care about anyone - Selfish?
Virustotal cannot scan the Linux miner file complete by the way  Wink only 56 of 65 security vendors
Linux donīt care me, but i am here to discuss about it. If you have problems with the malicious detection, use other miner or go back to 2.70.

Donīt spread fud, this will help no one.

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Blockchain compute GPU AMD -160 on: December 16, 2021, 09:18:30 AM
Yeah 2k is too much.

But no this is no vega7 or vega64 card. This card have a RDNA GPU. So it is a Workstation Card modified for mining in my opinion.

In the past all this mining cards where overpriced or more expensive than normal gaming cards.

The eth hashrate of this card is 72mhs, the radeon vii they had got a way to reach almost 100mhs on eth using 250w. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__jY01II4Vc

I think, not sure, if this gpu is like radeon vii then with some mod it can get up to 100mhs too but even if can get to 100mhs, still not worth the money. The question is how will be the power consumption of this gpu, bacause it can do 72mhs at 125w and that is very good.

I found it:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-pro-v520.c3755

Technical to 100% identical to the AMD-160

So we can say it is a RX5700 with HBM2 memory and the result is more bandwith = more hashrate

hi.
my 1st times trying tbm and it's going fine with a 6800xt. some issues tho:
- can't say if my stall ratio ok: 114/0/21 ?

TBMiner --algo ethash --hostname eu1.ethermine.org --port 5555 --wallet %ETH_WALLET% --worker-name TEST1amd --xintensity -1 --templimit 66 -b -d

Remove --xintensity -1 for this pool. Ethermine doesn't pay for stale shares, so you need a low value like the default --xintensity 24 or similar. --xintensity 78 was reported to run good on the 6800XT.

The hashrate will drop, but if you want to use --xintensity -1 switch to 2miners, f2pool, miningpoolhub, nanopool or similar.

I'm currently running between 800 and 1024 on my 6800's on 2Miners and getting decent results (66-68 MH/s).  The funny thing is that my fastest and most stable card is my Sapphire 6800, the 6800XTs are close and run very nearly the same hashrate in the client but their share rate at the pool is lower, and by far my worst card is the 6900XT which won't run full memory speed without crashing (same memory as the 6800XTs) and constantly drops to low power if the memory is pushed too fast, or has these annoying 1 second power downs which don't crash the miner (as opposed to those glitches that do crash the miner and the driver).

But in general, it seems that I can push the intensities on these cards without getting _any_ stale shares at the pool, and maybe 20% 'estimated' by the miner.

Oh, and yeah, there are certain AMD cards that will not show statistics, but I'm not exactly sure why, since I have two ASUS TUF 6800XT cards that are identical, one shows stats and the other doesn't, (the other one that doesn't show stats, is unsurprisingly my 6900XT), while they all show stats in the HiveOS GUI.

I donīt think that you can push so high your intensity without getting stale shares. Can you show us your miner with stats? All over intensity 80 result in more staleshares - tested with 10 different AMD cards.
My Nvidia rigs runs fine with intensity 284.
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Question about Unmineable.. on: December 15, 2021, 01:30:38 PM
I recently started using Unmineable to earn SHIB by mining on a few extra PC's I have laying around. As of now, the minimum payout for SHIB on the site is 1,500,000. The high number makes sense when you consider the cost of SHIB right now, but obviously by running only on PC's and not GPU's it's going to take a really long time to reach the 1.5 million mark. I'm okay with that if sometime down the line (should SHIB rise to say $0.005 or even $0.01) they lower the minimum payout amount. Has anyone ever seen Unmineable do such a thing before? If I start mining and choose to receive an extremely low trading coin (like SHIB) and that coin eventually goes up, will Unmineable drop the minimum payout amount?

My concern is, lets say I run the miner on a few PCs for like 6 months and manage to earn 100,000 SHIB. Then, SHIB magically soars to $0.005 and suddenly (because of it's price) I'm not earning as much per day as I am right now, and yet I'm still way off from the 1.5 million. However, my 100k SHIB at $0.005 is now worth $500 (way more than what 1.5 million SHIB converts to right now)... If this were to happen do you think Unmineable would drop the minimum payout threshold for SHIB, or keep it the same? If there is no chance they ever drop the minimum payout then I might as well stop mining with them unless I get a GPU...

At the end you will loose money when you using unmineable. If you mine randomx with some PCīs laying around, it will hard for you to cover the electricity costs. And Unmineable only convert your mined Monero to shib and pay you in shib. You will get more if you mining monero direct and convert it to shib by yourself.

And by the way, shib is shit, don't follow the wrong hype dude

Can you still build mining rigs with 6gb GPUs like gtx 1660s in 2022? For how long can this graphic cards keep up with mining? I'm sure they are better option over rx580 4gb, what do you think?
yes for sure but eth will switch to pos at june 22, you have less option after that and many gpu miner will dumping their gpu before or after that, million of used gpu hit market

and pc gamer will got they want after that, some miner will mine on other algo / coins, so sad to say this

And yes you should be fine for the two years at least if eth does not succeed with the POS transition, google eth DAG calculator for more info.

hi.
my 1st times trying tbm and it's going fine with a 6800xt. some issues tho:

- can't make remote api work
- no stats
- no colors & the text is not aligned somehow, compared to screenshots I've seen here
- can't say if my stall ratio ok: 114/0/21 ?

I'm using Windows, tried 1.32cuda11.5 version. here is my bat file. about the api I tried to go to these urls:http://127.0.0.1:4068/miner, the browser failed to connect.

Quote
Set ETH_WALLET= my wallet
:loop
TBMiner --algo ethash --hostname eu1.ethermine.org --port 5555 --wallet %ETH_WALLET% --worker-name TEST1amd --xintensity -1 --templimit 66 -b -d
timeout 10
goto :loop

here is a screenshot of tbm:

For the color you can find a ansicolor.reg file in the miner folder. double click and yes and now you see the colors.
What is the problem with the api? There is no much you can do, only add the argument to the commandline and it will run. You added the argument? --api --api-port xxxx (xxxx fill in your prefered port)
No stats: what driver you are using?
The ratio is ok if the pool pay for stale shares, if not, reduce --xintensity to reduce the stale shares.

to mine other mineable coin for less profit, its feel like gpu mining will dying faster than people think

Yeah i hope more people like you are out there  Wink

GPU mining will never die. It will be not so much profitable for some month like after the last bullrun 2017/2018.

The "Clock frequency" under DPM3 is Memory clock however, anything I add more than 950 mhz, GPU get throttled to 500 mhz.

Now need to know how to bypass that throttling .

Any idea ?

You have a RX6600 and most of this cards canīt go over 950mhz for the vram, so you canīt "bypass" a hardware limitation.

Use the original driver tool to setup your card. More is not needed. Or MSI Afterburner.

https://minerstat.com/dag-size-calculator?lang=en

You can mine ETH until august 2024.

But you can mine Flux for ever for example, 6GB are more future proof, but it depends on how long you plan to mine, what coin you wish to mine and what the crypto market do in the future.
I prefer cards with 8GB or more.

I'm still mining Epic Cash.  Still the most profitable of any GPU mining options.  I guess $6 EPIC helps.  That's a 20X from not too long ago and more than that from earlier posts I put up on bitcointalk about mining EPIC.

Mine EPIC unless you are allergic to success.

Yeah i get around 1 Epic per day, with 1x 1070 and 2 CPUīs + a little bit ETH and Verus. Over 150 EPIC in 2 Months with this gear. This is insane.

The only GPU i could consider being rasonable would be 1060GTX. other old cards dont put the MHS for the power draw.

Must be a fault on your side. My Nvidia Rigs with T-Rex started well after the update. Clean your AM download folder on your rigs.
And sometimes after an Miner Software updates it needs to long to download it, because many other users starting the download from github.

Good day.

I was looking for a miner that has the "maintenance fee" feature or something similar and stumbled upon TBM. I found out about the "maintenance fee" option through the changelog of Simple Mining.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any documentation in TBM site's or on your github page on the exact commands for setting this up.
With a bit looking around I thought I found how the command should be written but it doesn't work.

Running teamblackminer-v1.31-cuda11.4 in SMOS,

-a ethash -o stratum+tcp://eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -u "ETH_WALLET" -w $rigName -p x --maintainance-wallet "ETH_WALLET" --maintainance-percent 5 --worker-name $rigName --miningtime 100 --script-crash reboot.sh

I get /root/miner/teamblackminer-v1.31-cuda11.4/TBMiner: unrecognized option '--maintainance-wallet'

Any help?
