Some reading,
http://www.paymentssource.com/news/technology/a-very-public-confluct-over-private-blockchains-3021831-1.html?pg=1
'This scheme could end up looking like Citigroup's new cryptocurrency, aptly named Citicoin, for cross-border payments. Banks could start deploying their own cryptocurrency networks, available only to their customers. These transactions would then be cleared over the Bitcoin network, which could lower costs for the banks and their customers, especially when dealing with international funds transfer.'

Yes, but as Andreas Antonopoulos said a couple of times last week, their solution is to centralize the blockchain, which isn't even a new technology, as blockchain ledgers are indeed the first forms of writing tens of thousands of years ago.  Their plan doesn't decentralize their blockchain, it's a proprietary blockchain.  They're just using the new term "blockchain" to hype their product, leaving the "decentralized" portion out.  Of course, the decentralizing of the blockchain is the real innovation Smiley

I wonder how long I can ramble on inserting the word blockchain into sentences over and over again???....

From one of the original masternode testnetters...been away for a little while, v.12 hit the scene, and it seems like I'm back to masternode kindergarten.

This next update is a monster!

You can say that again, yet it's working beautifully.  This next release is achieving a lot.  First, the reference node is gone, that was a big one.  But second, the proposal system and payment by blockchain is also going to be implemented.  Imagine what it takes!  And they got it right, just tweeking here and there and we're almost  done Smiley
Someone here (I don't remember who) was speculating that the reference node would be the last barrier to bring down to gain big boy's interest.

Wasn't that iceberger?

The last ones that I set up were on the 9th of July with Regato, so nope not me, my number of minions has been steady since then though I've had a lot of demand from people wanting to buy the rewards to set up their own and this from new people mostly, also I know of one guy on the dash talk forum who's just set up 25 MN with Node40 this week, he bought on the exchanges. I also have a standing order from one UK guy who is buying a lot from me daily starting from a few days ago, not sure what he does with them though.
Otoh,
Evening there  Grin
Am wondering how did that cryptocurrecy show go in Jersey at the start of July.
Weren't you going to mention Dash to a few big hitters, did they take any notice, what was the feedback ?

Evening Smiley

It was an amazing conference, very professional indeed, mostly geared towards trusts, trustees and lawyers who work with them, a lot of fun knowing more about crypto than so many smart people gathered together to discuss it, they definitely saw it as something that their clients would be asking them to either buy with their trust funds or place already bought/mined ones in to trusts with them and I was able to point them to secure ways of doing this with Bitcoin at least, I didn't get in to DASH with them as they were mostly focused on Bitcoin or just the concept of crypto in general, they were too new to it all and a bit skeptical of the whole scene to be very receptive I thought, but I made some good contacts and if I need legal work done locally or with crypto I shall certainly use the company that organized it and it's quite possible that I may also set up a trust with some of my coins as they are allocated to go to a charitable donation and other beneficiaries, so I would be certainly talking about DASH then I imagine.

Edit

They also looked in to what crypto was, like money/currency/commodity, etc, what regulation would be applicable, one of the speakers is advising Jersey on drafting proposals for this atm, https://bitcoinmagazine.com/21183/government-jersey-publishes-consultation-paper-risks-regulation-digital-currencies

wow 2801 masternodes on the network!!

Is Otoh setting more masternodes?

Well, yes, it is very easy to do, but some people are really afraid of computers, and don't find anything about it easy.  I have a dear friend who is so afraid to do anything with her computer, it's amazing!  She's not even old!  But I guess we've always been eggheads in my family, but not in her's.

However, there are MN management services.  The biggest one now is Node40, but also some of the developers and forum members like flair provide services.  You don't even have to risk your coins if you have the entire 1000 coins available.  You just give them the masternode private key, which can't be used to access your funds, only verify your node exists.  That and the transaction id for the deposit of the 1000 coins into your account and the index number in that particular block.  With that, they'll run your masternode.  You do pay for the service, but it includes servicing on a VPS as well as management, updating and making sure it's running and nothing is going wrong.

So really, there is no reason not to invest in a masternode unless you can't afford the coins.  There are even services that group coins together from share holders and run nodes for them.  In this case, you have to trust them with your coins.  But you do get to participate in earning dividends on your coins, even if you don't have enough for a masternode.

It's even easier than this, with Holger/flare & Node40's service I just give them the public addresses where I've sent the 1,000 DASH to and they give me the config file once they've set up the server side stuff, then I just fire them up from my local computer, so quick and easy. There's also a new entry in the MN management game that I'm trying out atm: http://www.regato.io as it's good to encourage more of these for diversification etc, though I really do like what Node40 are doing for DASH generally.

Following a review of your Coinbase account, it appears that you are likely violating the Coinbase User Agreement by reselling your bitcoin through services such as LocalBitcoins, Craigslist, Ebay, etc.
.....
I don't even use LocalBitcoins, Craigslist, Ebay, etc. for crypto, most of the coins that I've bought the last two weeks have yet to clear, topped $10k is I guess what triggered this BS.

I suspect you're transactions are being linked around your vanity gen (1otohotoh....) which is linked to your addie.cc details.

If you had triggered a high value check, they probably would have said that and not been as specific as to suggest you're buying / selling coins:

Quote
I buy and sell these coins for P2P cash in some countries

Ah thanks, that makes sense, though I haven't actually sold any like that for well over two years now, I can see why they think that I may do so, like anyway it's any of their business wtf I do with my coins after I've bought them anyway.

Thanks again for showing what I naively thought would be no one else's business.

Hello,

Following a review of your Coinbase account, it appears that you are likely violating the Coinbase User Agreement by reselling your bitcoin through services such as LocalBitcoins, Craigslist, Ebay, etc.

Please see: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/1905681-localbitcoins-and-coinbaseFinCEN guidance states that “a person is an exchanger and a money transmitter if the person accepts such de-centralized convertible virtual currency from one person and transmits it to another person as part of the acceptance and transfer of currency, funds, or other value that substitutes for currency.” As such, accepting bitcoin from Coinbase and then re-selling to another person is considered money transmission per FinCEN.

Money transmission is an inherently high-risk business and is heavily regulated. Coinbase has elected to not facilitate money transmission activities via these services. In order to continue using Coinbase, you will need to deactivate your account with these services within 10 days.

Additionally, your purchase and sell limits will be lowered to $200/day. However, if you can sufficiently demonstrate that your daily limit needs for transactions unrelated to money transmission exceed this amount, then we can raise your limits accordingly.

You may also request a limit increase after 90 days by emailing support@coinbase.com if you have not engaged in any further money transmission activities via these services.Thank you for understanding.

Regards,
Coinbase Compliance

Actually, they are not a city firm, they are chambers for barristers. The chambers are formed by self-employed experts that lawyers go to for advice and to represent them in court.

If they help to structure something, it's usually pretty strong and can hold up to the latest legal precedents challenged in the courts by the tax authorities.

The good thing about these types of experts is that they would equally advise governments to represent them against tax evaders.  So they structure stuff knowing what both sides of the fence would challenge.

Many thanks coins101, good to be well informed about who's sponsoring these events, much appreciated.

If anyone is interested in the investment opportunities of crypto and their legal aspects for trusts, then there's a three day roadshow organized by a Channel Islands law firm in early July, details in the meet ups thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1098311

London July 1st, Guernsey July 2nd & Jersey July 3rd.

I'll be attending the Guernsey one on July 2nd with some friends who work in the trustee biz and will be bringing DASH to their attention.

I think i have crossed paths with Maitland chambers. Do they specialise in tax planning?

I'm not familiar with them as yet, seems they're high powered London city firm and handle a wide range of cases, including personal tax, trusts and probate.

Should I buy now?

Dash has gone through several cycles of growth and consolidation. I think this is a very good time to buy, it is really stable in terms of BTC ratio. Now BTC seems to be in a downtrend so the dollar may go down a little, I would buy slowly over the next few days until you reach your target.

I would really take this opportunity to buy, the dev team is working hard implementing some of the recent features that were agreed by the community, specially the new governance system that should provide budget for a range of new initiatives both in development and promotion. I think is fair to say that once that is implemented and we start reinvesting a little in developing the ecosystem that could help reach more adoption and spark the next growth phase, so this time of silence while the dev team is hard at work is ideal to accumulate, Evan tends to present news and developments when no one is expecting them so buying now feels like the smarter thing to do.

Nice Update & Good call Smiley

Mr Reappearing buywall on Cryptsy, I think things are about to get intersting people.

Yeah I've had to keep changing my purchase price because of him.  Smiley  He costs me $$.

it's more than one person doing this btw, most interesting indeed

How do you figure out it's more than one person?

I took it that it's not him, so there are others.

Yep, I was the 50 BTC buy wall of the last few days moving up to 0.0119 & someone kindly snaffled it up, then right after appeared a 23 BTC approx buy wall also at 0.0119 which wasn't me, I did think to move more BTC to Cryptsy but decided to get out of them faster for now via dollars on Bitstamp to catch the BTC price bounce and as BS are faster with deposits.

I'm presenting Dash at the Barcelona Bitcoin Meetup in Barcelona next Tuesday. To any dasher around the area... please come and help spread the word!

http://www.meetup.com/bitcoin-barcelona/events/222636340/

The Barcelona BTC meetup is the biggest in Spain and one of the most attended ones in Europe. Besides the usual attendance (30-40 people), all people at the Bitcoin panel in the Symposium on Electronic Crime Research (eCrime 2015), that takes place in Barcelona that same day, are invited:

https://apwg.org/apwg-events/ecrime2015/

The organization expects many of them to go to the meetup and this could be a good opportunity to present Dash in a more friendly way to this audience.

I will do a 20-30 min overview of Dash, covering masternodes, darksend, instantX and blockchain governance. We will try to connect with Evan via Skype for the Q&A, but we don't know for sure yet because we need to test the audio at the venue first.

aleix made this possible and he will record the presentation. We'll make the video and the deck available so anyone can use.

I will be travelling to Barcelona specifically for this. Depending onf the final arrangements, I expect the cost of the train and the hotel to be around 200-250 EUR (80-100 DASH). I'll be doing this anyway, but donations to help cover the costs are more than welcomed Smiley My address is XcuTUeqH3zQmrfWQB3APRWLWkvM2fshpQc

If there is any excess over the cost, I'll tip attendees who download the wallet after the event so they can try Dash.

Excellent timing, I just arrived in my CAT base (one hour north of BCN) a couple of days ago, I shall definitely be attending, I was at the first Spanish BTC meet up in Madrid in 2012 http://www.yorokobu.es/bitcoin-el-lento-auge-de-la-moneda-anarquista

I will make a donation in Euros on the day personally as I'd rather hang on to my DASH atm.  (cross posting from Dashtalk)
