I have some hardware left over, so if anyone still wants their chips assembled please send me a PM.

I have made some tests with the core voltage in order to lower HW error rate and improve overclockability. With the original BOM the voltage is less than 1.15 V.

In the Avalon users thread GandalfG has been running his boards at 395 MHz at 1.25 V. So I thought this would be an interesting test.

Power draw from the mains power:

1.2V 300 MHz => 936 W
1.2V 350 MHz => 1092 W
1.3V 300 MHz => 1056 W
1.3V 350 MHz => 1240 W

I will see if I find time to do some more experiments and get some statistics of the HW error rates at different configurations...

Hi,

I would like warn about neo-asics.com .

They have been in contact with me for several weeks wanting to buy parts for several Avalon clones. They bought a kit with a few chips and payed, no problems, I shipped to their company address, they signed for it and sent back a photo of the setup.

I have given them at least two weeks to pay for the parts, but they only give me exuses. I can't give them any more time now, they are welcome to give a public explanation on how they are conducting their business. I have not shipped the parts, so they have nothing to sell.

The video is of my unit in my office, here is the original video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svQBsIAZ-ss

Bogart: Ok very good! I can send you one new hash unit with 10 chips and you send 8 chips back to me.
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe on: August 12, 2013, 03:18:27 PM
Bogart: Can you test with a multimeter if the compound is conducting? I don't see any screw heads in contact with anything else in your pictures.

crazyearner: I do assembly service, I assemble other peoples chips, not my own chips. I don't think I have time to design one of those liquid cooled units. Smiley

I'm planning on keeping a small stock of spare parts, there seems to be some interest for this, and I need to be able to repair customer's units as well...

Local pick up is perfectly ok.

Bogart: This is in large part my mistake, my assembly process has not been very good, only the last few units I have assembled have been done properly, I was in too much of a hurry to get units out the door fast. If you send the broken units back I will refurbish them, I think most of the chips are still ok! I hope I can compensate you in some way.

ProfMac: I'm not sure I understand the question?
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe on: August 10, 2013, 08:36:43 PM
ProfMac: There are 4 modules with 8 units each. Module 1 has unit 1-8, module 2 has unit 9-16 etc, module 3 unit 17-24, module 4 unit 25-32. So module 29 would be the 5th unit in module 4 if I'm not mistaken? There is numbering on the silkscreen of the back planes, so it's easy to see.
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe on: August 10, 2013, 08:23:21 PM
It would be number 5, you can see the number on the back plane, I will send a new unit on monday.

Maybe it cant handle the overclocking. Try to remove it and check if it has enough thermal paste covering all the board area under the chips. Also try to lower the frequency for a while and see if this is the problem. 355 MHz is more than I can run on my original Avalon.

If it's dead I will of course replace it.

Overview:

I have 322 chips left to assemble in this batch, over 900 assembled. Unfortunately many of the first chips I assembled were not properly done (misaligned, wrong amount of flux, wrong temperature in the oven etc) and need rework. Constantly improving the process, now more or less all are properly assembled and soldered on the first shot... Smiley

Sorry everyone for not replying to PM!

Now I have spent an hour replying, send me a new PM if I missed anything Smiley

server: Yes, that's the most important step. I run the modules to check hashrate and HW errors.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe 14 Avalons + 16 extra modules + enclosures on: August 01, 2013, 04:07:11 PM
Today I sent 3 modules. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to send any full clones before the weekend, it will have to wait until monday :/

Since the chips arrived I have been working on the assembly process, I have had to work out quite a few different problems. I have slowly been finding a process that gives consistent quality, at first a lot of chips were not soldered properly and I had to do rework. Still going a bit slow, I will have to ship units in the order the chips arrive, so far I have assembled around 500 chips.

hacko.bg: I received chips from zefir first batch.

I have a tracking number for the first chips on the way to me, it seems they have arrived in Sweden so I expect them to arrive very soon!
