642  Bitcoin / Mining support / [Closed] Gridseed CGminer problem on: April 10, 2014, 09:46:10 AM
Hey people,

I have 4 gridseed miner that have been running stable for atleast a week.
Yesterday I added 4 more and CGminer crashes or goes idle (0 k/hash output) after 15-45 minutes with random "timeout getresults xxxx" messages.

I was short on time so I took the gamble of unplugging 2 of them last night, the other 6 of them seem to run stable now.

What could be the problem? I use a powered usb hub and an old windows 7 laptop and I already use the hotplug function.

Could it be that the laptop lacks the speed to process data for all miners? I have reinstalled cgminer and all drivers but having all 8 miners keeps giving the same problem.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I've been looking around on the forum and google but cannot find an answer that helped.

Edit: I use a 750W gold rated psu with  4x2.1mm to molex cables (can handle up to 10A per cable) so it shouldn't be a power problem.

Free electricity is simple:

Get your cats, bread and butter before the prices explode!

This is significant factor in crypto-business and it's interesting to know more about it. Thank you for your vote!

I am not a rig owner but I was wondering how to get free electricity - till now I didn't solved it Smiley

Cheers!

We had some illegal ways, but some legal ways to get free electricity are:

- life with your parents / someone else who pays for electricity
- setup a mining rig at a place that offers free electricity. E.g. university, a cafe or similar. Usually this will not work because you cant leave your rig there, but only set it up for a short period of time.
- ask at your company/workplace if you can install a rig somewhere. Depending of the kind of company and their elecricity needs, they will not even notice.
- get a flat where electricity is included in the rent.

That is still no free elektricity, you simply let someone else pay while you are making money of it.
It is bad and you should feel bad...

Well if someone else pays for it, thats free for me. Why should I feel bad about that? To clearify: I dont do that, but even if I would, I dont see why I should feel bad about it. If someone offers me free electricity, they cant complain about me taking it.

There is a big difference in something being "free" or "free for me".

I just want to recommend people to think twice before using their parents or someone elses electricity without telling them, if I were to find out that someone is trying to earn money while making me pay for it I would throw that rig to the moon since the bitcoin and altcoin value surely isn't going there anytime soon.

i'm looking to purchase a 10 pack but I can't seem to find the paypal button.. was it taken down?  it was there yesterday..

It is gone but why don't you just pay on your card or buy BTC and pay with those? which ever way you do it it's still costing the same amount so i don't really see what the issue is?

That is wrong info on your part.  I get multiple paypal discounts that do not change the money that goes to zoomhash.

I get 2 % off and 6 months interest free to pay.

So an order that comes to 400 bucks will cost me 392 if I use paypal and I get 6 months to pay it interest free.

Zoomhash's removal of paypal will most likely end my purchasing from him. I purchased 13 pieces from him. Orders of 1 , 2 or 3 pieces each time.

The ability to pay these over time with 0 % is very big as I can use the coins earned to pay them off.

The math comes to 392 owed 0 paid.  2 grids mine 700kh  that is about 60 a month  so in five  months I would  earn 300 and owe about 92 bucks to paypal.

I can sell them at 100 each in 5 months and pay off the  last 92 and make 100 bucks profit on zero money out of pocket for every 2 grids purchased via paypal.

No other way to purchase them is as good as doing this. I would need to pay upfront and to make up for that I would need a price of 300 for 2.

What makes you think that your monthly income in BTC (60 a month) will stay the same? If you look at the previous months and the entire cryptocoin history you will know that it reduces every week. Lending money like you do is a serious risk, how will you pay if a miner blows up after 2 months?

Has anyone inlined resistors already to lower the fan's rpm? Does this work and what resistor do you recommend?
I would like to reduce the noise without removing the fan.

Has anyone heard from ZH since Mar 22?

Yes, Micheal has been answering my pm's and my 3rd order is already in the hands of USPS. Zoomhash also emails me about the track & trace status now which is cool Smiley

651  Local / Markt / Re: [WTS]Custom made Gridseed kabels (1x Molex -> 4x Gridseed) on: March 26, 2014, 10:03:04 AM
Wink

Works perfect! I have 4 gridseeds running on scrypt mode with this cable and I will get more as soon as my new miners arrive Smiley

Can anyone tell me if the KNC Titan script miner will work in wafflepool?

You cannot mine with something that doesn't exist Wink

Always the same problems with EU import, my gridseeds are stuck at customs for days already...

I bet they use them to mine for a week and then send them through  Tongue
