Old logo is more exciting than new one.

P.S. What is a font names for logo's text?
"Magneto" is the font. Also the updated logo uses "mageneto" and "roboto."

Greetings everyone,

Mining Update
Cryptopoolmining.com appears to still be offline to us. Is anyone still mining there?

We are making DigiHash our top priority this week. We see it is very important to have a solid, easy to use mining pool for the integrity of the network. We have developers working on it as we speak to finish that and more!

Android Wallet Update
Please help us test out the Android wallet. Feel free to download it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42300902/dgb-multialgo-test-signed.apk
Make sure to back up your existing Android wallet before hand (Settings button -> backup keys -> select location to back up to )

Wallet v 3.0.3
We will be releasing a version 3.0.3 wallet as it appears our issue with the wallet going into safe mode is not fully resolved. Some wallets are still experiencing the "Warning: Some miners appear to be experiencing problems" error. Thanks to raven's help we have been able to track down and isolate the issue.

Website Update:
We have been working very hard on a website redesign, please take a moment to check it out here: http://dev.digibyte.co/

We are not done with this version of the site, so please ignore some of the place holder images & text. If you think we should make other additions to the website please let us know. Our goal is to make the site as professional as possible.

iOS Wallet Update
It has proven much more difficult than first expected to find someone to port the breadwallet code to a new DigiByte wallet. We have talked with over a dozen developers now. The problem is most iOS devs do not know much about crypto currency code & hashing algorithms and most crypto devs are not very familiar with iOS. We will get this sorted out, but this will take some time.

Logo Update
What do you think? Is this a good change to the logo?

Old:

Let us know your feedback, we are working on a lot of exciting things at the moment! We will also be making an important announcement this Friday! Cheers!

FYI: Response from Cryptsy

Response regarding lawsuit

There was quite a bit of PR pushed out yesterday from a law firm that stated that they were filing a lawsuit against Cryptsy and myself. The complaint alleges that Crytpsy misled users and was negligent in security. They represent a single user. We have reviewed the unofficial complaint and believe that it is without merit. We intend to defend the case vigorously.

We would like to note that we have not received any documentation or official notification concerning any lawsuit yet.  We also find it unprofessional that the law firm decided to push out such a large PR campaign prior to serving any notice.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, we take security very seriously.  We pride ourselves on being one of the most secure places to trade on the internet.  However, in this case, the attack on the user making the claim came from within their own computer.   While we try to educate our users on how to secure their local environment, we ultimately have no control of a users computer system.

So as a reminder I’d like to reiterate a few security tips:

- Do not leave your computer logged into your Cryptsy account when you are away from your computer
- Do not install browser extensions from unknown developers
- Do not install mining software from unknown developers on the same computer you use to access Cryptsy
- Run a virus scan regularly.
- Make sure you use 2fa on your Cryptsy account

We have conducted our own research into this matter, including reading the actual suit: http://www.silverlaw.com/files/BitcoinComplaint.pdf

It does appear this lawsuit doesn't have much ground to stand on. Cryptsy is a very easy target, because there is an easy avenue for consumer recourse ( State of Florida, FinCEN). We hope this turns out well for them as this would be a huge blow to everyone in the alt market if they were to shutdown. As always, it is a good idea to only move coins to an exchange when you are ready to trade.

take a look at this

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/silver-law-group-files-lawsuits-against-cryptocurrency-exchanges-bitcoin-savings-trust-and-cryptsy-2014-10-23

looks like cryptsy is in deep shit , I just transfered my digibyte from the exchange to my wallet .

Make sure to transfer all your DigiBytes out of Cryptsy to protect from losses in case this goes south for them. It is never a good idea to leave your DigiBytes or Bitcoin on any exchanged for too long. We have all seen too many exchanges fail.

It seems Cryptsy's practice of putting up a new pump & dump coin every week is now catching up with them. They are partially to blame for the eruption of new scam clones every week.

Unfortunately the timing of this cannot be any worse. Combined with the Mintpal fiasco the alt coin market as taken a huge blow. There is definitely a vacuum right now for a trusted alt coin exchange. We are working hard to fill this void, we  have an exchange in alpha, but there is still much work to be done. We are not going to release a platform that is not very solid & secure. We also want to get the exchange insured, but this process is not easy.

Has anyone still not been able to withdraw their coins from Mintpal?

Yes we did have an issue with the libboost_thread on 10.10. We are checking into this & recompiling!

Please try this version of 3.0.2.1 for OSX 10.10. https://mega.co.nz/#!oQwyyApI!3igirj2PDHuKQ41sHNiBlVyf2zOO_Pi8NtSzMKYfh3M

This problem was associated with the fact we deployed the original download on a specially configured Macbook with 10.10 which opened the dmg without any problems since the proper paths were in place already.

It works but it doesn't see my waller backup.
As long as you only deleted the old application it should recognize the wallet.dat in your library/application_support/digibyte folder on OSX form the previous version.

version 3.0.2.1 doesn't work on mac os x 10.10.0 (he says: the program is not upgrade to the latest version for this system)
the version 3.0.1 works fine on mac os x 10.10.0

Try the download again. We have upgrade to Yosemite & recompiled. We just pushed the new upload. Please let us know if you have any issues. http://www.digibyte.co/sites/digibyte.co/files//crypto/DigiByte-Qt-3.0.2.1_0.dmg

no, he gives the same issue
Does it not run at all? We are running a Macbook Pro with 10.10 & it was compiled natively on this environment. Perhaps we are over looking a new change in the OS.

Also, anyone who pulled 3.0.2 from source and compiled please re-pull and compile again. There was a commit that was not merged like it was supposed to be. Hence 3.0.2.1. Smiley

Finally got back my money from mintpal. I guess they are honest fellows afterall Tongue I stumbled on a bug it seems but now all's fine.

Looking forward to news! but I'd like to throw the rock once again: multi-algo + aux-pow= safest pow coin ever, multialgo alone makes a 51% attack just a bit trickier. I see some people ideologically against merge mining, but considering the total value of the mined dgb a day is little over 1 BTC (or am I wrong?) so the cost of a 51% attack trough rented miners should be in the order of the few hundred dollars a day, that's chips. Even when dgb price rises you still have to consider that its hashrate is distributed trough 5 algorithms, so the miners of each algo get 1/5th of the total, making the hashrate go down the drain

If you mergemine with the main coins and orphan the blocks with lowest -estimated- "actual" difficulty (dunno if that's how it works already) then a 51% attack becomes as hard as 51% attacking all the coins alltoghether, making it cost in the order of milion dollars a day.

Lastly, there are bound to be many coins around for each popular algorithm, and as we've seen even BTC does not totally monopolize sha, it's normal that we'll have a few big players in the mining industry, this means that if even the largest coins don't work together to build up hashrate they'll all be under the 51% attack threat from a "rogue" miner. Even if dgb becomes the N1 coin, it'll still have hashrate issues (especially since it's a multi algorythm coin) unless it's merge mined.

Forking is usually bad, but since dgb is still in a somewhat letargic period it's better to do all the forkings now than later.
Thanks for the feedback! This is a great idea and we will look into it for sure. This is also a lot to take on and code in. We want to get things streamlined & working very well before we consider doing this thought.

We want to get iOS, Android (completed), Electrum (test wallet running), Coinpunk and Tipbots all operational before we consider a major upgrade like this. We are working on all these projects simultaneously.

We also are working on DigiPay as a payment service & trading platform. We have a lot of development going on right now! Good things are around the corner! Smiley

Note: Chinese translation is compiled into v3.0.2 as well. Binaries coming tomorrow Smiley

Greetings Everyone,

First off, a note on the rate of DigiByte production. We have read most of the comments on here regarding the price of DigiByte and the rate of DigiByte production and we understand some of your concers. As of now we have no plans to change the rate of production as we want to leave the core protocol variables alone. We feel we are right where we need to be. We have a very powerful marketing campaigned outlined that will bring more users into DGB. Once this happens we will need all the coins we can get in circulation.

Secondly, we have now pushed all the fixes for the bugs everyone has been experiencing to the master branch on github. If you are a mining pool operator please help us test v3.0.2 by building from source. If all goes well we will release v3.0.2 binaries to the public tomorrow (we have compiled and tested on all os's with no problems.) We have also updated the seed nodes to v3.0.2 as well.

https://github.com/digibyte/DigiByteProject

We have compiled & successfully tested the upgraded DigiByte Android wallet. We plan to put this back on the play store on Wednesday.

We will be releasing the official DigiByte Wiki to the public this coming Friday.

We have a lot of things going on right now in the background so stay tuned for more news!

My withdrawal went through perfectly. It may be confusing because of the big text box below, but you don't need to put anything in there.
It IS confusing. Anyway the withdrawal is manual? I have requested it quite a bit ago

Took less than 3 hours for mine to go through
We are glad to see people have been able to withdraw some of there coins.

Looks there is 2,063,725,976 DGB in circulation. That is close to 10% of the existing supply. Pretty interesting to see how things play out. Does this ultimately lead to scarcity in DGB?

YC

Our original target was 4 billion by the end of the 1st year.

Hey DGB!!

All accounts on mintpal now have been migrated and my DGB is in there!! So if anyone has had any troubles like me over the past week, have a look now and everything should be fine!!

Everything is not fine.. You cannot withdraw. Until you can withdraw, it is not your coins.

This is very true. However, it is good to know they are making progress. I (Jared) personally have met some members of the Moolah team in person over the course of this year & think they are of a true nature. I do believe they are working around the clock to get things corrected, albeit in a less than desirable manner. The best we can do is learn from not only their technical, but their PR mistakes when our time comes to launch our exchange.

As soon as someone is able to withdraw please let us know!

there have been bunches of people that have developped the exchanges for their own coins ,this idea is not available now.so try somehing else.

Agreed. What you guys need is a coinbase equivalent service.
We are very aware of this, which is why we are doing much more than just another "exchange." If that was what we were aiming for we could of done this a while ago. Smiley

mean no offense but i think "大鸡吧" is the best name ever for DGB
D大 G鸡 B吧 +1
Pronunciation For Translation

Unfortunately after consulting native speakers... who met us with hysterical laughter... this translation is not possible. It means "big chicken dinner," or in Chinese slang, a positive reference to parts of the male genitelia. Smiley

What do you think of the Chinese name 极特币 for DigiByte? We will be compiling this translation into our upcoming wallet update. Any feedback from native Chinese speakers would be much appreciated!

It sounds quite graphical and hard for me to handwrite it Tongue
Yeah we are still working on learning the first character after using a whole bottle of white-out Wink
