2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Blockpass Turns First Faucet On on: October 25, 2019, 09:06:08 AM
Blockpass has now turned on its first faucet campaign - giving away 100 PASS tokens to any members that register their Ethereum address with Blockpass. You can find the details here: https://www.blockpass.org/faucet/
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockpass Quiz giving away $1000 of it's PASS token to the winner on: September 10, 2019, 04:47:28 PM
There is nothing sketchy about this - it's just a marketing tool we are using to promote our app.
Then if you're just doing a quiz, why on earth people will forced to download it? You can make a quiz via forms with promoting your project too, I've seen some projects did it in the past.

Because the more people that have the app, the more useful/attractive it becomes. The quiz is an incentive to download the app - a promotional/marketing tool.

The app is needed before PASS tokens can be activated and transferred/sold on exchanges anyway, as detailed here: https://medium.com/@blockpass/user-guide-to-activating-pass-tokens-128b44648bd2
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockpass Quiz giving away $1000 of it's PASS token to the winner on: September 10, 2019, 04:05:03 PM
The quiz forces you to download the Blockpass app. This could easily have been achieved through Google forms or similar software, I'll pass.

Forcing people to register on your app with the hopes of winning $1,000 is sketchy.

Hi DarkDays,

There is nothing sketchy about this - it's just a marketing tool we are using to promote our app.

Blockpass has created a mobile app designed to give individuals back control over their personal information whilst still allowing for compliance with regulations. To make the app more useful to people and companies, it needs to have as wide a userbase as possible - hence us trying to give people an incentive to have the app by providing a quiz as a fun method that was popular in the past, and with a significant reward for the winner.

As you can read in the (short and succinct) Terms and Conditions here https://www.blockpass.org/quiz-terms/, there is little required in order to participate.

If you have any doubts about it you can talk to us on our Telegram group: http://t.me/blockpass

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Blockpass Quiz giving away $1000 of it's PASS token to the winner on: September 10, 2019, 10:23:35 AM
Hi all,

Blockpass (www.blockpass.org) is holding its second quiz - with questions based on cryptocurrency, blockchain and Blockpass.

There's a couple of weeks until the registration closes and the questions go out.

If you want to sign-up to have a shot at winning $1000 of PASS tokens (which can be traded on selected cryptocurrency exchanges) then the link to the quiz is https://www.blockpass.org/quiz/.

Good luck to all those who try!

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become centralized sometime in the future? on: July 16, 2018, 12:34:55 PM
If it becomes centralised, people won't want to use it and the price will drop and those who have a vested interest in it will lose out so it's highly unlikely to become centralised.

Time and the lightning network should remedy this.

Hi pikkie,

We're in the process of getting a host of other merchants to use Blockpass - some of which are indeed ICOs for KYC. We aim to make the process simpler, faster and more user-oriented. New additions will be announced on our various social media channels as they happen.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO WhitePaper Matter Most? on: June 11, 2018, 02:20:43 PM
There've been some good points here but it's worth reiterating that the most important factor is whether or not there is a market or need for the project.

You could have the best team and product and whitepaper in the world but if there isn't any real need for it then it will fail.

I'd also rank having a MVP highly, followed by team and whitepaper.

The Blockpass medium page might have a blog going up about this soon.

13  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to lose weight? on: May 23, 2018, 10:51:14 AM
I've done a lot of research into weight loss, and I can safely say that the easiest way is to not eat lol.

But look at it this way, one meal is probably 600 - 1000 calories (or more). All you need to do is skip one meal a day to burn 600+ calories.

This is incredibly dangerous and unhealthy approach. Cutting meals is not a viable solution for healthy weight loss and isn't even likely to cause any weight loss in the long run as it is not sustainable.

Controlling portion sizes is a much healthier way to lose weight. Avoid sugar-rich foods and drink plenty of water.

Even if you ran a mile everyday, you would burn only 116 calories. That's BS. That's not even a meal.

One mile a day is barely anything. A healthy person can run a mile in 6-7 minutes. Even if you were just jogging and not doing any form of HIIT exercise simply spending an hour exercising a day would equate to almost 700 calories using your stated 116 calories per mile and assuming a very reasonable 6mph.

The daily recommended calorie intake in between about 2000 and 2500 calories for a person doing basic exercise (think 10,000 steps/day level). The problem is that most people have office jobs or spend all day sitting in front of a computer but still eat the same amount as if they were active.

Basically, don't overeat and step up your exercise will make you lose weight. Skipping meals is absolutely -not- the answer.

Boy asked his bitcoin-investing dad for 1 bitcoin for his birthday.
Dad: What? $8,554??? $8,854 is a lot of money! What do you need $8,682 for anyway?

This one made me snort out loud  Grin

16  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you believe in aliens? on: May 23, 2018, 09:32:10 AM
Given the mathematics of probability and the size of the universe it's almost certain that alien lie exists. What is not known though is the form it would take. Microbes and bacteria aren't as exciting as little green men or krptonians but they're far more likely!
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN} Blockpass Product Launch and Token Distribution Event on: May 23, 2018, 09:24:39 AM
This blog post highlights the problem that Blockpass is trying to solve: inefficient KYC and non-self-sovereign identity needs to become a thing of the past. https://medium.com/@blockpass/how-do-you-solve-a-problem-like-kyc-475f214332e4

It's now just over a week until the PASS Token Distribution Event is open. The event will run from 31st of May 2018 to the 30th of November 2018. For more information and updates keep an eye on blockpass.org.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be aware of KYC on: May 22, 2018, 08:21:39 PM
Giving away personal information is a problem - but it's exactly the problem Blockpass is solving! We're developing a truly self-sovereign Identity Verification network and recently partnered with Edinburgh Napier University to work on things like Zero Knowledge Proofs which would give a person complete privacy whilst satisfying KYC requirements.

19  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you feel about zoos? on: May 22, 2018, 07:56:05 PM
The worst zoos are the ones where they stick the animals in small enclosures and force them to perform for rewards under unnatural lighting and in cramped and often unhygienic places. I think they're called offices  Grin

On a serious note, there are plenty of great zoos where animals are given the best care possible and many of them undertake vital research and conservation work to try and preserve species in the wild.

Lumberjacks have one of the highest mortality rates for professions, as do roofers and I think farmers.
