1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Not Authorizing VISA Cards on: December 05, 2015, 09:05:43 PM
I've had two backup Visas removed in the last week with the same reported reason (I have two CB accounts). They had been in place for at least a year. FYI.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 21, 2014, 06:50:25 PM
Silkcoin,

The registration mechanism you're proposing has an interesting application towards preexisting non-p2p systems.

Suppose a website owner who employs a home grown authentication system is able to add a Silk authentication module allowing his system to verify the identity and authenticate visitors against the blockchain. The process could be made seamless for the user via browser plug-in for challenge/response authentication, or token based a la OAuth. The website owner would never need to store the users credentials.

I believe what you're proposing, in particular, decentralized content could coexist and benefit preexisting non-p2p systems.

I'm doing some work in this area, have been hacking on Bitcoin's P2P protocol. Ping me if anyone wants to discuss further, hopefully outside the fray of the ANN thread!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - REQUIRED UPDATE 0.8.99.8 on: April 18, 2014, 03:29:20 AM
For 8bitcoder in case you aren't checking your messages: A guy in the IRC has a patch for you for getdifficulty

http://pastebin.com/k01xRnvq

I think the patch is not correct. By default (the case where params.size() is 0), you should call GetDifficulty with the value of the global miningAlgo, not with 0 as the patch proposes.

Main issue is getdifficulty is not allowing arguments. Made quick local patch to verify, didn't see the global outside the scope of the problem - wasn't really looking. Definitely someone w/ more familiarity w/ codebase should address and resolve. Behavior prior to patch:

Code:
obf@obf:~/myriadcoin/src$ ./myriadcoind getdifficulty
1221362.38981582
obf@obf:~/myriadcoin/src$ ./myriadcoind getdifficulty 1
error: {"code":-1,"message":"getdifficulty\nReturns the proof-of-work difficulty as a multiple of the minimum difficulty."}

Behavior after.

Code:
obf@obf:~/myriadcoin/src$ ./myriadcoind getdifficulty 0
1588215.87495287
obf@obf:~/myriadcoin/src$ ./myriadcoind getdifficulty 1
11.83426209
obf@obf:~/myriadcoin/src$ ./myriadcoind getdifficulty
1588215.87495287

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since you're proxying the miner instead of allowing the miner to mine directly to the pool, doesn't that add a good amount of latency?  Huh

What's next?

Dev hasn't posted since Jan 3. Multiple people have publicly offered to help, and it doesn't seem like dev is much interested.

I was willing to believe that this was an honest effort and he just had some back luck, but I'm starting to have my doubts.

Doesn't seem like to the dev cares too much what happens to this coin anymore. And it's too bad. This coin has a great name and marketable angle.

Buying at 1 satoshi, ANYthing that's done to raise awareness = pretty large profits. You can make 1000% returns if it could climb back to just 10 satoshis. Hell, if it reached the low price level doge is at right now, you'd be making 25x ROI. This should be a no-brainer.

And it's totally do-able. This coin needs a facelift (new look and feel), better web site, and a community behind it.

At this low price, this coin should be one of the most obvious investment vehicles in crypto. But an absent dev doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Yes I know you had to deal with a lot of trolls. So what. That's what happens when you launch a coin.

If this is in any way a legit effort and not a get rich quick scam, then accept the help people are offering and make this coin into something.

Hey, just got told about your post. There is an active group working on mooncoin sites, promotion, etc. If you can use IRC, we're in #mooncoin-team on Freenode if you'd like to help.
