41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptsy bot vb.net trading (for small time miner turned trader) on: March 10, 2014, 04:35:23 AM
I wouldn't mind taking a look at some example code. I've tried to write a simple ping-pong trading script before but never had any luck getting the API responses to work correctly.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] GeoCoin - final release! -= RELEASED =- on: February 05, 2014, 06:19:58 PM
Hey, anyone still actively developing (or doing anything at all) with this coin? I just saw it today and it seemed interesting, but it looks like this has been dead for quite some time...
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TIPS] FedoraCoin - Euphoria - Enlightenment - Intelligence on: January 30, 2014, 04:12:16 PM
I counted all TIPS traded on cryptsy since it got on market and it is total number of 105.000.000.000 traded on cryptsy (traded, not waiting orders). Now, there are total number of 112.000.000.000 TIPS mined so far. Something is very bad here, who is selling all those TIPS at low price and it seams that someone have all TIPS that were mined! I am wrong?

Yeah, but its more just a flaw in your logic. here's an example, say I sell 20m tips on one rise, buy back another 30m on a dump, sell that 30m off on a rise and then buy back 50m on another drop (cause im just such an awesome trader like that  Cheesy). Anyway, that would be 130m TIPS worth of volume, but in this instance that volume only reflects an exchange of 30m TIPS (20m -> 50m).  So the reality is that the volume traded is only a very small indication of the 'absolute magnitude' of TIPS that have been sold from one person to another. Also, my example was based on big, somewhat unrealistic profits. If you were to run through that example again with more realistic numbers, you could see that on less of a spread, the amount of TIPS actually being redistributed is a much smaller percentage.

[Note: This update was first posted on G+: https://plus.google.com/114816033975093735144/posts, follow us there to stay up to date]

Time for a sneak peek! Now that we're done with the REST API flow, we're working on the next one: the simple client-sided flow (http://dashboard.withfedoraco.in/docs/payment_flows/simple_client).

These screenshots show what happens when a user gets redirected to our dialog to make a payment, much like how +PayPal does it.?

This is what a user sees when he/she opens the pay link

Once the payment has been sent, we show this screen immediately

When we get a confirmation from the network, we show the user the progress

Once the desired number of confirmations has been reached, the user can continue

Nice!!! Pumped to see this is up and running. Perfect timing too, you guys must have been hauling ass to get it out  Wink

Can't wait to test it - I have some big plans for a site that's going to use it once you guys have it fully rolled out. Looking forward to any updates.

Thanks again for all the hard work!!!

Wow, yes that was a fantastic explanation. Exactly what I was looking for - I can take a look at what the aroon outputs are (now that I know how the method works) and try to better range the entry and exit conditions. Thanks for your reply - I'll see what I can do with this info and post back if I have any success.

currect diffi is 18 now. Does anybody know how much you can expect mining with 1Mh/24 h

Diffi changeing to 36 within 20 minutes ? Blockexplorer LINKED Op 1 does not work.
this is a bit confusing

Well the net hashrate for Fedora is ridiculous right now. Still over 1 Ghash and I know it was over 2 not that long ago. All new miners jumping on board - actual hashrate for the past week or so was ~200 Mhash. Honestly, this is the first time in over a week I'm mining a coin other than fedora. Once the bandwagon mining ends and I see the hashrate drop back down to a reasonable number, I'll switch back. But for now its getting plagued by all these multipool miners since its the new hot coin.

Also, the block explorer definitely does work... But you're right that it's not working right now. I think it's probably because of all the traffic.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Fedoracoin - The Community is Taking Over [MAIN] on: January 24, 2014, 09:36:22 PM
@buddynuno - I agree - network hashrate was at like 150 Mhash for so long and the literally over night now there's 1+Ghash mining Fedoracoin. Nothing we can really do about it besides wait until they find another 'coin-of-the-day' and all the bandwagon miners move on and those of us that have been steady mining Fedoracoin all along will see our shares go back up.

I am not so deep into TIPS mining. What retarget has the coin and how has diffi changed after that GH occoured ?

Current diff is 21.98 - I believe it had been averaging around 6.5 over the past week or two

@ifightformerkel - I understand that they're different, but there's some amount of predictability to altcoins based on their algo parameters. Looking at the chart, I'm pretty sure mooncoin is going to experience a huge correction at some point too. Honestly, I don't follow mooncoin too closely so I can't say I know that much about it, but I feel alot better holding my TIPS than picking up any MOON right now. I guess the price is still going up now so I'm imagining that when it does get a correction (and it will) it's going to be higher than my inital predictions. So buying back @ around high 30s may not have been a terrible idea, but only time will tell.

If there are just a few whales buying up all the coins, then the real pump hasn't even begun  Grin

yes now only a few big players pumping, but there are also every minute more "normal" people who buy the coin, look at coinmarketcap the 24h volume, its insane.

Okay so I may be wrong, but I still think we have a slight correction incoming and I'm going to even take that one step further and make the bolder claim that Fedora won't hit it's peak value for over a month. Take a look at the coinmarketcap comparison between fedora and doge:

I feel like the market should mimick doge (although I may be completely wrong) - which would mean that if the price keeps moving up, it's going to come back down hard... I definitely support Fedora, I just don't necessarily want to put in any buy support at an unreasonably high price and get burned on a huge selloff. Lets see what happens...

Its unreal, the pump is a few times bigger than by moon and its startet yet yesterday, its rising every minute, crazy.  Shocked

Coinedup is down, because the fedorapump, lol.
Everyone will buy cheap, but its not possible at the time.

You have to see from were the price of TIP came. Once it was traded in BTC/TIP.
Now we only have LTC/TIP market.

If it goes on it surly will be listed at cryptsy. Could normally be 1/5 price of DOGE

If its go only on coinex (i think it will be there very fast) the price will raise from now 44 latoshi to over 500 latoshi in a few days.  Wink

Someone bought a ton of coins today.

yes, the pump startet yesterday.  Wink

I'm just a little nervous that the price is going up too fast. Personally, I think fedora is worth a lot more than even 50 latoshi, but not after trading at 2 literally like two days ago. I want to buy more and support the rise, but I'd rather wait until the market settles a little and I see what price it corrects too. I may be missing an opportunity, but I think its gonna be a wild ride for the next few days as everyone rushes to fedora. I think we're been lucky so far that no one has really dumped on the market, but if the price gets too high to fast, its only a matter of time...

Anyway, for anyone just getting in I still think its a great value and its only going up - I'd just recommend waiting for the first actual reaction to get a better feel for what the actual value should be right now

I use last version fedora wallet for windows but dont sync ... any body here to help me ..?   Sad

PLZZZ  HELPPPP MEEE

Start by deleting everything wherever you saved the client. Next go to "%appdata%/Roaming/"
and delete the "Fedoracoin" folder. Then try re-downloading the newest client from this thread and see if it syncs

-BTW, I'm assuming you don't have any coins in the wallet - if you do, MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!!!. You can always reload the wallet after you get the client synced.

THANKS MY FRIEND BUT 0 ACTIVE conection to fedora network ... dont sync ...

i removed fedoracoin folder in ROAMING folder and start again .. problem dont solved ... dont sync yet ... no need to config file ?

Hmm, you definitely don't need to have a config file - that's just for mining. Here, I just looked at some of my peers, maybe if you can add them you can connect. Try:

addnode="176.115.5.213:22889" add
addnode="130.255.133.202:22889" add
addnode="217.123.22.49:22889" add
addnode="76.72.4.40:22889" add
addnode="69.22.235.92:22889" add
addnode="50.202.110.30:22889" add
addnode="68.5.34.219:22889" add
addnode="2.236.53.94:22889" add

If you don't know how, just click help -> debug; click the console tab; and copy/paste those lines. If it works, you should see a connection in a minute or two.

So I started toying with strategies again and while I wasn't able to actually turn a profit using the preset Aroon strategy, I did see some positive results when I applied it to intervals of a few days.
It  seemed to do a very good job of detecting entry and exit points (in backtesting); I think that the only reason it wasn't profitable was because of the binary trade execution (i.e. sell 100% once signal is determined and vice versa). I'd like to use the code as a starting point and try to add a basic algorithm to make incremental buys and sells rather than all or nothing. I'm pretty sure that by just adding a set of a few simplistic rules you could turn the algo profitable.

The one thing that I'm a little confused on is the MathUtil.Aroon method. First, in the code I see three parameters: high, low, 22 - what is the 22 for? Also I'm not sure exactly how the overarching code uses the call to this method to make trades. From the code, it seems like you're just getting the aroon.up and aroon.down, finding the difference and then calling a buy or sell method depending on whether the result is positive or negative.

I have to imagine that's pretty close to what's happening, but I know I'm missing something. For instance, if that was the case then a trade would be initiated at every interval except for the case where aroon.up = aroon.down, which I would think would be fairly uncommon. But the strategy is obviously not making trades at every interval so I know that there has to be more to it than that. Maybe you could help point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Well it's been a great few days for Fedoracoin with yesterday marking the first solid rise in the market since it's initial launch so congratulations to all those who've been putting so much time into this coin!!!

With that being said, I see all the ideas floating around on this thread for new sites and services (which is great!!!), but I've been trying to get some people together to start re-working the fedoracoin-qt client to not only clean up some of the orignal code, but to also add updates included in newer releases of the qt-client. I also have some ideas that I think may be feasible to try to make a unique wallet that several other coins have done successfully (and of course including the winner of the logo contest).

Anyway, since this thread seem to be great general discussion on fedoracoin - where do you think I should start another thread to try to get a discussion going on this particular topic? I think the timing is perfect to release a revamped wallet alongside the new site and services like w/fedoracoin being launched. Before I open a seperate thread in this forum, I wanted to know if a) there's already a discussion for fedoracoin development and b) is there a better place to try to gather potential devs (like reddit)?

Thanks all!

Wow, I am so glad I found this - some amazing work csupnig

This is the first open source trading & strategy testing I've found that I believe could seriously be more useful than what's currently possible with MT4. I've only been playing with it for a few minutes, but I can tell you definitely have some impressive coding skills - for having just launched the site has a very clean, user friendly interface and seems like it has a ton of possibility for customization. I'll definitely be following this discussion and commenting further once I get some time in playing with the system.

As ironically was mentioned in the last post, attempting to utilize a neural network strategy would be interesting. I recently was involved in a competition where neural networks were (attempted) to be used in order to predict the price of options over a period of two hours using a data set with anonymous options and market inputs. As it turned out, at the end of the competition no one was able to actually develop a predictive model that provided any significant improvement vs. simple traditional models. In fact, while the goal of the competition was to utilize the market data, most of the models that performed well simply ignored the market data and used only price and time to train the model.

However, even though it was a similar exercise, just because a neural network model wasn't feasible in that situation doesn't mean it's not in this market and I think this is a great platform to try and test that. I look forward to working with you and your site - I'm excited to see what the possibilities are!!!

Thanks for your feedback and I'm happy that you found it useful! If you come across any questions regarding the functionality or need some assistance in getting your strategies to work... I'm here to help!

The other day I talked to a guy on the bitcoin meetup in vienna, and he was working on a neural network model for the bitcoin market. When I talked to him, he was at a very early stage of his project... I'm not sure if applying neural networks to market data would actually work, because it mostly does not follow a pattern at all. But I would love someone to prove me wrong on this Smiley

Thanks for the response, I'll send you a message once I've actually spent the time working with the code. With the Nerual Network model - I don't think that there's much significance in using the traditional approach of training the model with common inputs like EMA, Volume, Price, etc. (well to a certain extent, these things obviously play a role and need to be accounted for somewhere in the model). My thought, which I admit I haven't spent the time to experiment with yet, is that maybe its possible to get better results by training a model based on the parameters of the coin and the market(s) it's being traded in.

More specifically, I think that to a certain extent a lot of the coins being released now have similar features to the original coins (since most of them were basically just copies anyway with a few modified parameters, i.e. any coingen coin) so theoretically the market on a macro level should to some extent mirror the markets of those previous coins. If you assume this to be true you could try to develop a NN based off of these training parameters to get a general model and then add inputs like EMA, Price, & Volume to hopefully get a reasonably predictive time-series model.

My reasoning is that the fundamental problem with neural networks are that they're very dependent on the dataset used to train the model, so they end up being highly dependent on the time interval you use to train your model, which means that while you can sometimes get it to fit to a specific case, the model is going to fall apart when anything rapidly changes, and with this market that's always. By doing the way I'm proposing, (theoretically) you're generalized model is more robust as it's not time-dependent and then you would likely have to derive several specific-models based on time-dependent market data.

Whew, well that was a mouthful - I know it's a lot of theory right now, but hopefully in the next week or two I can take a rough pass at trying to build a model and see if there's any promise here. Before I get started with that though, I'd like to spend more time playing with some of the existing strategies you developed. Admittedly, they do not perform well at the moment, but I understand how much work must have went in to just getting them working (along with everything else) so hopefully I can work on tweaking some of them until they at least start to perform more consistently and then work from there.

Ya it seemed that way and no problem it is a step in the right direction.
We are working on getting the hosting setup do you have any service you would recommend?
Sorry I don't have any experience with hosting services, I've always hosted on my own servers.

Just wondering, what was your intitial affiliation with Fedoracoin? Like were you part of development or any of that?

I've just been present since the idea was first proposed, I handled the promotion and thread here for a while but that's about it.

MystPhysX, We wanted to create a Facebook presence, but a fedoracoin page already exists.  Do you know who set up the existing Facebook page?
Afraid not, have you tried messaging them?
Indeed.  No response as of yet.

It seems like that's been the story with everything... Don't understand how you could spend all the time working on developing a coin and then when the community starts to pick up, you disappear off the face of the earth?? Then again, now that I put it like that I guess I can think of one recent case where this happened and things seemed to work out pretty well in the end  Roll Eyes

But in all honesty, you may just want to start a new facebook page to compliment the site, I wouldn't count on waiting for a response from the owner and it's probably something you want to have updated to go along with the release of the new site. Best bet is to just create one that's the 'new' Fedoracoin FB; I'm sure most people who find it already probably realize what's going on.
