Yes, I understand that part.

Sorry, I think I was confusing - I'm new to this and was just wondering how you personally going about getting the block number. I've since worked out that different people seem to have different "counts" on the block number - some people starting from 0 and some from 1.

When I say block number, I don't mean the hash. I mean the number.

Obviously you can get it from : http://blockexplorer.com/testnet/rawblock/<HASH>

But, is there a better way ?

Thanks for this, it's excellent.

Can I ask what method you are using to convert your solution, or your block_hash into the block ID?

Ah, It looks like I was missing this code from the config file...

Code:
                "sharelog" : true,
                "stmt.sharelog":
                  "INSERT INTO shares (rem_host, username, our_result, upstream_result, reason, solution) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)"

I've added that in, no shares in the table yet - but will wait on it!

The bitcoind server needs to be the first thing that's running.

if you type

Code:
# ./bitcoind

into your console, what happens?

The program should silently run - but you won't see any output.

to check it's running you can try typing :

Code:
# ps aux | grep 'bitcoind'

Hello,

Firstly - really nice to see people helping with pushpool here, as it's not all that simple to deploy.

I have a quick question...

I've installed bitcoind, and am running on the test network - I have installed pushpool and am running 2 clients on it.

I'm using MYSQL and manually added my two workers.

However, even though the test network seems to be ripping through the blocks pretty quickly - nothing is being added to the MySQL shares table.

I am running pushpool on debug mode and am seeing blocks like this going out:

Code:
* About to connect() to 127.0.0.1 port 8332 (#0)
*   Trying 127.0.0.1... * TCP_NODELAY set
* connected

   },
   "id": 199
}

and if I look in the shares.log I can see entries :
