2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alt Exchange is the MtGox of Alts? on: February 25, 2014, 03:15:28 PM
Which altcoin exchanges do you guys recommend steering clear of to avoid getting goxxed?
Now all crypto exchanges are still quite immature as far as they just starting their way to the future, all of them have high risk to go down, thus best solution is to try to keep as much assets in private wallets as possible. So keep at exchange only minimal needed amount of coins.

+1. Keep coins in wallet and if you expect an upwarding trend do a transfer in time when y know that particular exchange is laggy during popular demands.

Quoted for truth. First adapters are not always the best business men.

The whole system seems a bit iffy.

Fantastic!  If I'm ever anywhere near Minnesota, I may have to go out of my way just to stay here.  <3 B&B

Let me know where you want to stay and maybe we can arrange it? It would be nice to see some real bitcoin transactions happening.
11  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: First B&B to accept BTC on: June 10, 2011, 02:22:51 AM
We need to think of them as worth what they are worth. If I take in 4 in payment for a room and sell them on the market at $$$ then what have I lost? And I have a new marketing angle! Why wouldn't a business person do this?
12  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: 3 Br 3 Ba Penthouse in Rio de Janeiro on: June 10, 2011, 02:17:59 AM
Yep, the B&B is doing good, although we are still waiting for our first BTC using customer.

This place is about 15-20 minutes from the 2016 Olympics stadium.

Maybe BTC will go up and you could retire there??? Wink
13  Other / Obsolete (selling) / 3 Br 3 Ba Penthouse in Rio de Janeiro on: June 10, 2011, 01:28:33 AM
This gives you a chance to trade some of your wealth for a lifestyle. 3 bedroom, 3 bath penthouse on the ocean in Rio de Janeiro. Has its own pool and sauna. Also pool, sauna, play area and 24 hour security in building.

Just 22,000 BTC.

Ideally this would be for someone who got in early and is Brazilian or is familiar with the area and wants to trade some of their early gains for an entire lifestyle. Feel free to hit me up and we can chat if you have any interest.

Come on, not even to treat your gal? Bitcoin millionaires looking for ways to unload a little without tipping the market.

Ok, granted this is unlikely to happen at the moment but we will accept them.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins have been mined? on: June 09, 2011, 02:16:54 PM
Or i could just go to that site. thanks.  Smiley

Also thanks for explaining the mining. I foolishly assumed it was mathematical difficulty versus time sensitive.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My reasons for buying Bitcoins on: June 09, 2011, 01:49:22 PM
You might want to stick with, "they are fun and interesting." I am new to the whole thing but it is insanely complicated for a non tech person and unless that is solved, it will die off.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many bitcoins have been mined? on: June 09, 2011, 01:45:58 PM
I read wikipedia and on there it seemed to imply that mining was a constant but obviously you have ramped up a bit. So how many have been mined? Are there any left? When i open my bitcoin thing, it says 129,491 blocks times 50 coins for 6,474,550 in bitcoins mined. Is that right? And difficulty has gone up 64 times (129,491 divided by 2016)? And by watching this I can see how many are being mined a day etc? Just looking for some simple ways to keep up.

Thanks
