Just upgraded to newest 0.12.9.0 version from 0.12.5.0 on Mac. Daemon won't start, just get this for a long time then a screen "Daemon failed to start". Not sure what to do.

Also, the app won't quit. Just get spinning wheel of death forever...

Is there a GUI wallet for this coin yet? Or a way to hold Aeon that doesn't require a terminal window?

https://github.com/aeonix/aeon-gui/releases

Yes thank you, can finally move off Bittrex!!

Damn, 50GB blockchain to download on my shitty 7Mbit connection....I'll check back in 2 weeks.

It's not 50GB. It's about 7GB.

Oh nice, yeah it's already 1/3 way downloaded.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DOPECOIN : Smoke Exchange advertising platform starts Beta testing! on: July 19, 2018, 02:20:56 PM

DOPECOIN UPDATE: v4.1.0.0

Dopecoin Core v4.1.0.0 is here. This version uses different data directory and database structure, so you have to sync from the scratch. As it syncs much faster so it should not take more than 2-4 hours to completely resync. Wallet files are backward-compatible so you can use old wallet.dat file but it is suggested to import your "old" private keys into new empty Dopecoin Core wallet or simply send all your coins to it. Do not forget to backup your wallet.dat before doing anything!

If any questions - feel free to ask them here or in Discord (preferably).

This release is recommended, but not mandatory. Windows binaries only.

CHANGES:

  • Rebased to Bitcoin Core 0.12.1
  • BIP32 HD wallet support
  • Added autocomplete to Dopecoin-Qt console window
  • Added toggle for unmasking password
  • Block hash changed back to SHA256D

Mac version?? I'm currently staking on v4.0.0.4. Is this still ok?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS - Asynchronous Smart Contract Platform - (Dan Larimer of Bitshares/Steem) on: June 04, 2018, 05:38:17 PM
I would be inclined to think people would do their research before complaining, but that would be expecting too much from people, I suppose.

All of these questions are answered all over the place.

They are in the testing phase now (phase 2 of 4), which could take days, something that was very well publicised, including a huge article on Coindesk.

Anyone with EOS coins on an exchange should currently leave them there, as there is no wallet yet. No one yet knows which will be the main chain, and untill they are certain everything works, a blockchain rollback is possible, hence they are in testing. Therefore, there is no wallet yet. There is also no block explorer yet

Until people are 100% ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN they have determined what the main chain will be (as well as which wallets are officially on that chain), no one should attempt to move any coins around.

There will likely be a zillion scams, which is all the more reason to be 100% certain of what you are doing (from information distributed from official channels) before doing anything involving moving coins.

Here is a launch tracker to watch the four phases switch from one to another https://eosnation.io/eos-launch-tracker.

I suggest following EOS Twitter for updates, too... https://twitter.com/eos_nation

Here is another ineresting site posting mostly interesting social feed updates, as well as a general phase tracker... https://eoscountdown.com/

Thank you!

You'd think with a f*cking $4 billion ICO some Block1 reps could post here with updates about mainnet wallets etc. I literally have zero clue what's going on, and it doesn't seem like any others here do either.

Where is the Mac version of the new, mandatory v4.0 wallet upgrade we apparently only have 3 days left to implement?

I have some EOS in an Ethereum address stored on a Trezor. How do I register them? This whole thing is somewhat confusing. Thanks guys.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][THC] The Hempcoin (THC) on: March 10, 2018, 03:59:14 PM
Who are the shitty devs behind this coin? So many have been reked due to their incompetence. I remember when price was $0.01 not many months ago. Will be back there soon!

Edit- Has anyone heard from any of these people recently?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BCC] Bitconnect Coin - Decentralized Cryptocurrency on: January 26, 2018, 03:24:33 PM
Does anyone know why BCC is losing its price dramatically?? please explain??

Because state regulators ordered it to cease its ponzi operation and ignorant noobs finally realized it was a scam.

if you dont want to leave your Aeons on the exchanges maybe you can try the web wallet:

https://cryptotimes.news/news/aeon-finally-has-a-web-wallet/

Sketchy, no one should trust this not to steal your Aeon. The site could upload your seed. Not even a FAQ page saying anything about seed security or who the devs are.

Edit - web wallet devs posted on Reddit but I find it odd they mention nothing about seed security or how the website handles the seed when you paste in into the account box and click Login https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/7qceqa/aeon_pocket_secure_web_wallet_for_aeon/

Just make a GUI wallet pleaseeeeeeee.....  Smiley

This seriously. Mac version too.

What's the status from dev?

I run the daemon and wallet from Mac for my personal account. It's a straight forward build, just follow the instructions on GitHub and make sure you have the correct dependencies. You can do it!  Smiley

Perhaps you could point me to how to do this? Didn't find any instructions on GitHub and find the site generally confusing. Note: I'm not a dev, zero clue how to build a GUI wallet.

Quite astonishing there isn't a GUI wallet after 3.5yrs when Aeon devs would have no trouble building them from code which is already written on GitHub. What's stopping them from doing this apparently simple task?

I'm not sure I follow.  Roll Eyes

Here's the command line daemon & wallet for OS X. The instructions worked for me; https://github.com/aeonix/aeon
*************************************************************************************************
On OS X:

The project can be built from scratch by following instructions for Unix and Linux above.

Alternatively, it can be built in an easier and more automated fashion using Homebrew:

Ensure Homebrew is installed, it can be found at http://brew.sh

Add the repository: brew tap sammy007/cryptonight

Build wallet: brew install --HEAD aeon
*************************************************************************************************

Again, not a dev. This makes no sense, no clue how to compile anything from GitHub. Homebrew...yeah again this makes no sense, I see terminal commands going on but have zero clue what it's doing. Is malware being installed? I have no idea. Doesn't seem like a good way to make people jump through confusing hoops just to safely hold AEON in a desktop wallet.

I need a .dmg file to be able to install the wallet on Mac. Sure I'm not the only one wondering wtf we're doing trying to install wallets using confusing command lines in Terminal when this coin is 3.5yrs old and Monero has all the installer apps for every operating system. Stumped.

AEON devs, why just make GUI wallets already?? This is the only coin I'm holding on an exchange because there is no wallet installer.

Edit- I believe I installed Homebrew and Aeon wallet according to Terminal. But here is no Aeon QT in applications folder. Have no idea how to run the wallet or where it even is on my hard drive. Come on devs you need to make this easier ffs!

you can also, do an cholecystectomy.
its pretty easy.
you need a surgical table
general anethesia
get some trochanters and go to work.
really should take about 30 minutes from start to finish.
I really cant see why more people dont do it more.

Ha! Might as well be performing a cholecystectomy here probably just as easy as installing Aeon wallet. Yep, looks like my coins are staying on Bittrex for now Sad
