That is really aggressive Phil. I look forward to seeing you do that. The spec sheet on the chips show it can go very low indeed and the boards and controllers are much better. This is going to be fun.
We have an incoming $3500 payment from a customer coming in.
I have ear marked this money to buy a small quantity (~1K) of chips from BM, assuming they decide to sell some.
Having said that, I'm a slut, if any other chip supplier has a suitable chip for sale prior to that they'll get the $3500 (first come first served).
Whomever's chips will be shipped to GS (with their approval ofc) for insertion onto hash boards.
We assume that a certain number of chips would be destroyed n the development process.
Once a suitable design is manufactured and field proven we'd be up for a real quantity purchase of chips (and then boards, ofc).
And regarding capex equipment purchases, I've had my eye on a CNC router for more than a year.
Something that will route polycarbonate and thin sheet AL for immersion tank construction.
Made a corporate decision a while back that we're done buying equipment that has a programmed obsolescence (S(odd) and C1).
I'm sick and tired of replacing perfectly good equipment every 6 months - a year solely due to fixed a Vcore which caps the maximum efficiency of the gear.
Screw that.
And yeah I know I could rip apart miners, mod the hash boards (at least to some extent) and get better efficiency. That's a doable option on 1-5 machines but not on 50+.
It is my belief that even the venerable S1, had it been designed with a reasonable lifespan in mind, could be profitable to operate in today's environment given an adjustable Vcore and clock. But it wasn't and neither was any of the BM follow on products. I believe this was part of a designed marketing campaign to continue to sell "new" equipment. Smart practice for miner manufacturer's but not very good for the 200Th/s and down crowd. As such, we're committed to purchasing/building equipment that will "stand the test of time" versus a throw-away mentality.
GS's designs embody this thought process and consequently we will opt to buy their product(s) over a competitor's.
Phil - I am very curious to hear, when your S7's come in, whether one can adjust Vcore and if so by how much.
I just helped a friend to build his commercial cnc machine in the brooklyn navy yard it can do copper brass and aluminum. They are costly even at the lower end commercial models. We did his for 12k. Much of the work was diy. I built the pc for it he had the mounting table and frame welded by local people in the brooklyn navy yard. the pc boards, gearing, motors, spindles collects. you buy as a kit form. 1 set of percison collect is over 300 usd. alone. I was at his shop on fri. he is cutting some speaker boxes for me. I know him from a speaker building club. when I get the s-7 I am going to try to find the lowest freq say 150 vs 300 (a guess at what the numbers will be) then run at freq 150 hopefully giving me 200 watts and 800gh a blade. I will then try to get 10.8 volts in stead of 12 volts to drive machine |

How slow do you think the mountain can go? Secret facility or a millipede-mountain?
is it one of those smelly types? have you tried poking it with a stick to see if it will curl up? Would that not make the mountain slow during its crossing? |

This is seriously messed up. Just launch and run away. I bet he throws some even farther. I hope whoever got this gets go after them. UPS is huge but super strict though with damaged goods though. I wonder where this will end up. Thank you. Very cool on the pot by the way. I am going to have fun with this. I think the drivers are being a pain with Zadig. I used admin mode as a matter of course. I will take it all down and make sure nothing is in the background running. Should help. Thanks again I will post my results once I get this going. I have not been on much with the new baby coming a couple weeks ago but I am getting back into things now.
I am setting up the stick so I can give my feedback as well.

congrats on the baby! as for zadig I was able to run it as admin with a right click. I then had all other programs turned off. this got it to load the correct driver. I then ran cgminer 4.9 I also got cgminer 4.9.2 to work. as for getting stick recognized try turning the little pot . + < the pot has the phillips screw so do a ¼ turn If you have the gold model heatsink turn it counter clockwise also use freq 150 to start if it starts and tosses hardly any HW errors turn the pot ⅛ clockwise while running then see if lot of HW's occur. |

That is one thing that is sorely lacking in this industry. Integrity. Thanks for sending over the sample unit. I am going to post about it in Phil's thread. You did really nice work. I am very impressed. I emailed over the into question list to you guys as well for the interview. Sorry about the delay my wife had a baby last week and the couple weeks leading up to it she was in a lot of discomfort. Keep up the good work and standing up for the mining community. I think I'm able to speak for both Novak and I when I say we're also unwilling to knowingly rip people off. We leave that task for literally everyone else in the bitcoin economy and they're probably better at it than we are.
Who's left in this market? Well, I think people who aren't already rich and looking to get richer by way of doing zero work are kinda underrepresented. People without tens of thousands of dollars (or more) to burn, who would like access to reliable and efficient machinery that's also actually worth buying and not already worn out. You know, folks that don't like to be exploited. They're definitely being ignored by manufacturers.

URGENT - PLEASE READ - MOBILEMINER IS SHUTTING DOWNHello guys, I'm sorry to be here to announce this but yesterday evening I received an email from Nate Wools (Mobileminer author) telling me his service is going to be shut down on 1th July 2015. That said, you have to turn off Mobileminer from your Minera before 1th July (I'd recommend you to turn off it ASAP). What does happen if you leave it on? Probably nothing, but your Minera will still try to connect to that service every minute and you will probably suffer from timeouts, so it's really better if you turn off it before the service will be shut down. Unfortunately I can't do anything but completely remove it in the next Minera version I'm going to release in about a week. We should be really thankful to Nate for all his work and I wanna personally thanks him for all his efforts. Thanks Nate! This is the Nate email every MobileMiner API user received: Dear MobileMiner API user,
We thank you for your support in adopting the MobileMiner API for mobile monitoring of home mining. Unfortunately home mining is no longer a realistic and profitable endeavor, which has lead a significant number of miners to cease operations or cut their costs. This leaves MobileMiner in an unfortunately situation where it no longer makes sense to offer as a service.
This email serves as an additional notice that the MobileMiner service will be shutting down as of July 1st, 2015. At this time the mobile apps have been removed from their respective stores and notices have been places on web properties. On July 1st the websites and APIs will be taken offline.
Nate Woolls Let me know if this poses a problem or if you need something delayed until you can put out a release. The domain will still resolve but should result in an HTTP 503. I'd be happy to put something in place to help if this causes an issue (such as a dummy endpoint that returns HTTP 200). I'm also talking to a couple of folks about continuing on the service under other stewardship, so if you do remove the functionality you may want to make it conditional (for now). Let me know if there's anything I can do to make the transition smoother. |

BitLicense is a mess that harms everyone. Organized block withholding attacks are also a nasty reality of the current ecosystem.
It won't be long before more centralization happens. Not a good thing.
