1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: April 13, 2024, 10:13:41 PM
I was walking down my street this evening I saw some group of guys in a hidden corner of an uncompleted building playing WHOT games ordinarily I felt they are just spending usual time as friends and that they are playing the WHOT game to keep themselves busy while discussing.

But when I got closer to them I discovered that there was a dirty container close to them and inside the container is money they bet for the game they are playing , and if not careful observed you will never believe that they are playing bet games .

My curiosity led me closer to them I was interacting with one of them and at same time observing what they are doing , one thing I observed was that they stake with huge amount and they don’t give you change even when your money requires change instead you will use it and bet for another round.

So at this point I decided to bring it here to know or see different views from different intellects here on why do some people hide just to gamble or if it is the best way to gamble ?.
I know some people who hides their gambling activity, I asked why they hide it and they told me that they don't want people around them to know it because they would either be criticize or when the people around them found out that someone win on gambling they tend to tease them to ask for treat, so basically they are just hiding the amount they lose or win on gambling.
And there are also some who hides because it is illegal, some place are strict that they don't tolerate gambling games (Cards, mahjong or other forms of gambling games) even if it is being done indoors or in your backyard.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is gambling to you, a fanfare or potential financial havoc? on: April 13, 2024, 08:01:37 PM
Everyone has his/her own personal view on the subject of gambling and it always lingers on this two perspectives in the society and also has an impact on the way people view and approach it. Gambling in whichever form it takes be it a play to earn stake game, online casino or simply playing with friends, often sparks a debate on its true nature as a fanfare activity or a financial trap to wreak people.

My experience
On March 26th, 2024, my friend and I visited a bar, where he normally played snooker with his friends, I would always sit close to watch and cheer him up while I drink and hardly played cause I'm not good at it, one of his play mates challenged him to a bet on drinks, with rules lower buys drinks for the next person for each round, my friend got serious and was on a winning steak and the scores was 12-3 under 2 hours of playing, while at the beginning of this game it was more fun fare when the score were still some how even and reachable, but now the other guy was sweating probably because of the price of the drink which was about 3k(3$) per bottle for the least beer, the look on his face has totally changed and I believe he never planned for the game to go that way.

Now while some folks would argue that gambling is fanfare, I believe there is a line to this and it gets to a point where we could wreak ourselves if you are not careful, no one needed to tell me, that fellow was grieved by his losses which was not supposed to be so if we are just having fun.

Gambling as a thrilling or exciting activity
For many persons, gambling is a very good way to add thrill to any activity or game to make it more entertaining, playing a regular game with nothing to gain or lose can be at time so boring and would hardly bring out your best but with a price involved everyone gets serious and wants to put more effort, making it a fun to be a part of.

Like when we normally set football competition in my street and everyone would have to contribute an amount to participate, it makes the whole event more thrilling and engaging for all.

Gambling as a pitfall trap
We all know how easy it is to get a habit out of gambling, that excessive dopamine would just make you going back for more untill your well out of control, the byproduct of gambling Is clearly a financial wreak and the idea of easy money or double your cash seems can lure even the most discipline into blindness and eventually a gambling addiction that would lead to indebtedness from chasing losses. With this much bad side gambling can also be seen as a dangerous social activity that can lead many to ruin if left unchecked.

The idea of personal responsibility has always been the key to evade from addiction but her is the big question.

How can one draw a line between having fun and getting addicted since they occurr in the same process?

Would education on gambling side effect help some people nor to get too engaged in it despite the thrilling experience it can offer?

What is your personal view on this[/b]
My personal view on this is gambling for me is a thrilling or exciting activity, you explained it well that sometimes playing or watching something might get boring but with money involves it would be different.
And how I draw a line between having fun and getting addicted is by limiting the time and money that I would spend on gambling.
It all comes down on how you would control yourself, how you would handle the emotions or temptation to continue on gambling.
If you notice that most of the time you are always thinking about gambling or gambling is all that you could think off, take a break from it or breath do things that would distract you from thinking or would remind you about gambling, focus on other activities, hang out or talk with your friends.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler lost what he couldn't afford to lost and broke his TV after game Lost on: April 13, 2024, 05:20:46 PM
Here in my hood, someone staked $1,000 to a bet with little odds and to all hope that there was no possibilities of him loosing the game but revise be the case that the game got cut off in just 3 minutes for the game over and then he could had cashed his winning.
It is quite unfortunate that he staked above what he could not afford to loose. So out of frustrations and anger he broke his TV on the process.

After his temper became calm, he ended up regretting to had lost his bet and went such a mile of destroying his TV.

He now makes two different lost counts at the caused of his inability to control his gambling emotions and his over confidence to had staked what he can't afford to loosed.

LOL, now he didn't just lose a bet but also lost his TV.
But honestly those kind of people shouldn't really be gambling, those who couldn't control their emotion and tends to destroy or hurt the people around them.
I've seen some people lose control because they couldn't control their emotions and most of the time they would always be sorry or regret what they did when they calm down.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: April 13, 2024, 04:10:36 PM
It is useless to give an advice to someone who wouldn't even listen, it is just a waste of time honestly there is nothing we could do with those kind of people.
The first thing that they need is to be willing to help their own before asking to be help by others, let's put OP's friend as an example, OP already gave out an advice on how to manage his funds, but he just ignored it and goes back on gambling every salary that he would get.
Whenever we give out advice we should also consider if the one who is receiving it are really willing to change, or they just need someone to talk to or have a conversation.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Struggle now to invest in Bitcoin for a bright future. on: April 12, 2024, 05:38:19 PM
Sometimes we spend money on unnecessary things. So we can avoid spending unnecessary money because we can survive without it. And we can start investing in Bitcoin with that money. We have to find a solid income source, even if it is small. So we can go ahead with our bitcoin investment. If we struggle now, we may build a bright future. Even students could save some money from their daily spending and invest in Bitcoin.
It is true there is no excuse for all the minimum wage earner, if they really want to invest they could just quit or avoid overspending on things that aren't really necessary for their life.
If people really wants to, they would find a way to make it happen, some might take extra shift to work, while other would hustle or start small business.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling or selling? on: April 12, 2024, 12:53:55 PM
If they manage to HODL when Bitcoin hit the ATH, why couldn't they resist it now that the price drops down?
They didn't take profit before when it was a bit higher compared to the current price, so we could guess that they are still planning to HODL (for those who didn't take profit on the ATH).
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double your money and quite on: April 11, 2024, 08:26:42 PM
Hi everyone,

The way you play, which we can consider your playing strategy, plays an important role in determining your profit or loss, like other factors.

For me, when I play, I enter with the intention of double the amount of money and stop. This method may be followed by some people, and I do it sometimes. I determine the amount of money that I will gamble with, for example $100 and I try to get $200 and leave the casino or site if the plan worked  very well. If I am unlucky, once I lose $100, I will leave without adding a penny. What is interesting here is that even if I win, I stop and do not deviate from the scope of the plan. In such situations, especially when winning, the gambler may become greedy, and this may change the course of the game   .

What do you think of this method?
Is there anyone among you who does it?
Give us one of your winning strategies, of course if that is possible.
We have similar strategy, it is good to have plan before you start to gamble.
Set up a goal or time limit when we gamble to control ourselves and avoid being too greedy.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you consider yourself, the family and gambling? on: April 11, 2024, 05:02:16 PM
1. At what age will you allow your child to start gambling? that is if you will even allow for that at all?
As long as they are at the legal age and it is their own money I wouldn't stop then, instead I would just remind them to only spend what they could afford to lose, don't be too greedy and learn to control the time and money that they would spend on it.
2. At what age do you see yourself quit gambling? that is also if some of us are going to ever do so?
I don't really know of a certain age since I am taking breaks on gambling everytime that I lose, and sometimes it would take months or years before I gamble again, I couldn't be so sure that I wouldn't go back or try to gamble again after a long time of break.
3. Ever since you have started gambling, have you ever achieve a satisfying level that makes you think it has good impact on you?
Not really sure about it, but I did achieve some satisfaction when I bought something for myself from the money I won in gambling back when I was young.
4. Would you have missed out on anything if you were not a gambler?
I feel like yes I would missed out something, but not really sure what it is, since most of my teenage years I was already into gambling, betting.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you feel when you experience violence while gambling on: April 10, 2024, 12:53:49 PM
I've seen some people get violent when they lose a match with money involve, but in my case it wasn't just the money that trigger them it was also the insult while playing or trash talk.
This is one of the reason why other are scared to gamble on land base casino or to hide their gambling activity, some gamblers doesn't really feel safe after winning a huge amount on land base casino.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 09, 2024, 05:28:57 PM
My achievement from gambling isn't really big or remarkable, I only manage to buy some necessary things before for myself (eye glass, mobile phone, and other personal things).
But other than material things I also learn some lesson from gambling base on personal experience.
I learn to manage my funds and be contented even with small profits.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land Based Casinos in the Digital Age on: April 09, 2024, 12:53:17 PM
Hey everyone,

As online gambling platforms continue to grow in popularity, I’ve been wondering about the future of traditional, land based casinos. With the convenience and accessibility of online betting, will brick-and-mortar casinos become a thing of the past, or will they evolve to offer experiences that can’t be replicated online?

Do you think they’ll manage to hold their ground, or will we see a shift towards exclusively digital platforms?
They'll both exist into this gambling industry no matter how online gambling would progress, we should make ourselves aware that not all people would really be loving on playing online and still nothing could
beat up that real ambiance and experience on which physical casinos that could give and this is something those gamblers do loving and this is where they do preferred it out.

If you do try to look around then those casinos are still on existence on which means that there's still that a huge demand and i dont see any decline. Despite on online gambling casinos rise
or demand but still there are gamblers who are really that preferring on playing into these places. They are still making that significant revenue and we've seen on how
still relevant they are even up in todays era.
Gamblers have their own preference some want to play face to face, while other wants to stay anonymous.
Others want to meet up with other gamblers or socialize, while other wants to play silently, and have access anywhere and anytime they want.
So I agree that both land base and online casino or gambling could exist, they don't need to compete or one of them to disappear.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 09, 2024, 11:58:53 AM
Hi guys and ladies,

Sorry I can't share the Facebook post this thread stems from, as I lost the post, hours ago before deciding to bring it up as a discussion on this forum.

Like 6 to 7 hours ago, I was over there on Facebook scrolling my life-time away  Grin, I came to this post where the user was advising readers on how bad gambling is, being a gambler myself, I decided to open the post in fall to read and know what the dude is all about, and from all the story, it seems the dude went all in on a gambling sprey which didn't turn out the way he had anticipated, according to him, he had lost all his life savings (over $60,000) to gambling and it all started with a bet of $10.

And right now, the dude is all out to castigate and discourage as many that are willing to give him a listening ear; from gambling, all for what? Because gambling didn't turn out well for him, he lost his entire life savings, and he now believed that that is exactly how every other persons out there gambling will lose too.

What do you make of this, I honestly do not know but deep inside of me, I feel it's absolutely wrong to advice people against doing something, just because you did the same thing and it did not favor you..

Do you guys think it's OK to advice other gamblers to quit gambling simply because of your own bad experience, does your bad experience mean that every other gambler out there will also have the same bad experience?
I will like some really useful discussions around this topic.
For me it is his personal advice, and he is just telling his own story while making it obvious that he become a gambling addict.
He is just making people aware of what addiction could do to your life, it is not just gambling but all sorts of addiction could ruin your life.
It is up to people if they would take the advice, after all we have seen so many people giving advice about investment scams but some would still be scammed by it.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: April 08, 2024, 11:03:48 PM
Is this the wrong advice? A friend of mine took over his father's company because he is so old already and he told me about the money thats available doing nothing in the bank.

I told him to think about investing that money if he wants to keep the company growing, I told him about how MicroStrategy is doing so well using Bitcoin as a strong backbone of the company, I believe that even a small company can turn big if they use Bitcoin as their main investment.

Or am I wrong? I need to know if this advice is a good one or a bad one, I gave him this advice because we are very close and also because I will do the same thing if I am in his shoe, this is the best thing i can think of right now.
You should also advice him about the risk of investing in crypto, don't just point out the profit they should also be aware of the risk.
Whenever we are going to give out an advice on investment always include the cons not just the pros of it.
We as a crypto earner should be aware of how the reality works, it isn't always about the successful stories or achievements we should also include the challenge they faced before achieving it.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling: Modern entertainment or highly addictive game? on: April 08, 2024, 05:02:01 PM
For me it is both of it, gambling would and has always been a form of entertainment for some of us, and making it online is an easy access for us we could gamble anywhere and anytime we want.
And it is true that it is highly addictive game, specially for those who are eager to have an easy money or profit.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 08, 2024, 12:58:29 PM
For me I would just take a break from gambling, I don't really like to try out other games I only play on games that I am comfortable with.
Whenever I am on a lose streak I would try to lessen the risk or be contented with small wins, and I don't really chase up my loss from my previous deposits, whenever I deposit to gamble I consider it as a fresh start and ignore the previous loss.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 05, 2024, 10:16:31 PM
It is both parties fault for me.
If there is no scammer then there wouldn't be a victim, but at the same if there is no one who would fall for their scams they would stop on doing it since it would just be a waste of time.
We could easily avoid being scammed if we would just pay attention to how unrealistic their investment is, or paying attention to details or info.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does it looks responsible as woman telling husband you gamble? on: April 05, 2024, 04:55:57 PM
For me you should tell your husband about it, keeping it a secret would only cause problems in the future.
For me if money is involve your partner should always know it, you didn't do anything wrong you could control your greed and if it doesn't really affect your daily life or you are using only your spare or excess money then there is nothing wrong with it, you are doing it for fun you are not addicted to it.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 05, 2024, 12:52:16 PM
For me I consider it as a gambling because you risk your money in order to get the prize that you want.
For me everything that have a risk is gambling, I mean those that depend much more on luck without much skills needed.
Any games or form of entertainment with money or risk involve I consider those as gambling.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lately I've been thinking about this a lot. on: April 04, 2024, 08:31:06 PM
This could really be true, we couldn't even know if the fight result is real, I mean if the players are just giving us a show and making it looks like it was a close fight.
It could happen in tournaments or famous athletes, some could pay up or bribe the players to make sure they win.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: April 04, 2024, 05:33:32 PM
Cryptocurrency:
Cryptocurrency is a digital form of currency that not controlled by any government or any central authority.
In crypto, there is a high rate of return as compared to the real-estate. Cryptocurrency is decentralized (not controlled by any authority or any government). In crypto, u can trade at any time according to the condition of the market you can trade for a long or short period of time. As you wish. But in crypto, the price can swing at any time because any good or bad news is able to change the game.
Real-estate:
Real estate investors are those who purchase property to make profit. They buy residential, commercial or invest through funds. They make money when the value of the money over time increases.  Real estate provides us with a physical asset that can provide us security and stability as compared to cryptocurrency. Real estate property has high potential as compared to crypto to increase its value after a period of time.

Which one do you prefer?
Not everyone could afford to invest in real estate, but if I could I would surely invest in it.
Crypto is for everyone even a minimum wage earner could afford to invest little by little, in that way they could earn as soon as possible, unlike if a minimum wage earner would like to invest in real estate they need to save up first, and it would surely take too much time before they could buy a property and earn from it.

They both have pros and cons, it would only depends on how the investors would handle it.
