801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: June 15, 2017, 10:09:39 PM
Forget servers, buy a used laptop instead. That way you have a built in UPS in the form of the battery for uninterrupted staking.

For staking HDD is fine, but with a bunch of wallets you might want an SSD.

Just a qucik example:

Refurbished HP Laptop EliteBook 2560P Intel Core i7 2nd Gen 2620M (2.70 GHz) 16 GB Memory 256 GB SSD Intel HD Graphics 3000 12.5" Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit - $381 on newegg (link).

At least this is what I would do if I didn't have a UPS already.

It probably has to do with US congress being... well, the US congress:

803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ahoolee presale - first search engine for online shopping! on: June 15, 2017, 11:32:20 AM
A good concept but why such a huge fund raiser is required for a product search engine?Your website mention Google,Facebook, bitcointalk creation years and compare it with Ahoolee in 2017 but these sites you mentioned never raised funds before their creation

It's a blatant scam attempt.

Google already does what OP claims to develop as you can search for products across thousands of retailers you just have to add the word "buy" into your query.

For example searching for "buy bitcoin logo socks" results in a shop with:

And there are already existing sites that search for what you want across multiple shops.

And using a separate search engine for buying stuff takes literally the same effort as using google and going to the source shop.

And other than the top shops like amazon or ebay, plenty of the small and middle ones don't follow their own stock closely so it might say they have 10 of an item in stock while they have none. And small shops might tell you they have everything in stock while they don't even have a warehouse, they just order what you order and after the wait they ship it to you for extra. Or just use fake prices to lure customer. Shops like this would spam a shopping exclusive search engine.

A service like this doesn't need its own token, nor should it ask for trucks of money. Yet even the pre-ICO for the main ICO seem to have an ICO.

And the name is even more ridiculous than google.

*sigh*

This is just retarded.

Hey Carsentard, 2014 called and want their 10% premined shitcoins back.
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex Account Hacked - Do Email Confirmations Prevent Withdrawal? on: June 15, 2017, 07:35:20 AM
I don't tink you can withdraw without the email confirmation. Question is, is your email account also compromised?

And if I remember correctly the confirmation email should have the address to which you try to withdraw - which you can check in a block explorer.

2% premine and 5 minute block times

None of this is reasonable in 2017. Maybe in 2014.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vanitygen and balance checker on: June 14, 2017, 09:57:27 PM
Sure.  Blockchain.info has an API you can use to look up each BTC address as you generate it.

...and you're banned for banging on the API too fast.

Reading OP's comment history is quite hilarious and sad.

He basically lost 20 BTC due to a HDD failure and he intends to bruteforce generate his own address with a vanitygen.
810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The greed of ICOs on: June 14, 2017, 09:13:39 PM
Not much to say here. With the increased popularity/price of Bitcoin we got an influx of impatient and lazy people trying to get a quick buck while barely even understanding cryptos in general - nor do they care.

So they just throw money at ICOs like the rabid gamblers they are. ICOs are not about funding projects, they're just quick money grabs for the "devs" and a pull on a ponzi slot machine for the "investors".

That invites more and more people creating their own low effort scam ICOs.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about SONM on: June 14, 2017, 08:50:37 PM
Too bad that it's an ICO.
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vanitygen is not Random, other availeble? on: June 14, 2017, 08:28:28 PM
I am using vanitygen to generate addresses but one thing I notice is that vanitygen generates only private keys starting with 5K or 5J, is there any other program that allows  personalised address or a full address?

That's called an address prefix which is necessary so you can't start an address with any character you want.

For example every Bitcoin address starts with 1 (or 3).
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash mining on large Keplers on: June 14, 2017, 08:23:37 PM
They eat too much electricity compared to their hashrate. I wouldn't bother.
They still might be profitable considering the high profitability of zcash at the moment and the shortage of new cards.

Yes, but barely. Why waste so much on electricity and gain small profits instead of buying a modern card?

I could only find one number on the 780 (non-Ti) which apparently does around 98-103 sol/s. Assuming that number is about right, for a card with ~250-280 watt consumption you're looking at $0.5-$0.6 profit a day depending on electricity prices.

A single 1070 nets you 10 times that.
Thanks for the answer, I was expecting closer to 200Sol/s.

You might get that much, but I couldn't find info on it.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The superior coin ICO - what do you think? on: June 14, 2017, 08:22:56 PM
No ICO is superior.
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Name your favorite cryptocurrency on: June 14, 2017, 07:22:15 PM
99% Bitcoin, 0.9% PIVX and CBA to list the rest.

Sounds like the PSU might be overheating as you might pull too much from it.

Scaling is linear so you earn the same.
820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin splits into 2 differents coins would bitcoin legacy be a altcoin? on: June 14, 2017, 03:03:31 PM
if bitcoin splits into 2 differents coins would bitcoin legacy be a altcoin?what would change about the 2 coins?on would be control by miners?each coins with different developers?

the chances of splitting into two is very small because nobody wants it and miners will be risking a lot of money if that happens and there is no way of knowing which chain will be worth more or even survives.

but the most possible outcome in case of a split is two chains for a short time and one of them dying. because bitcoin at this point (sadly) is not just a cryptocurrency but a lot of politics is mixed with it.

Exactly because of politics the lesser chain won't just quickly die. Some people will inevitably support it.
