1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: On chain scaling on: December 19, 2018, 09:18:37 AM
Not considering sharding, tps is determined by block sizem while latency is determined by block time. So if we want to scaling on the whole chain, it is necessary to increase block size and/or decrease block time.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Forks really good for BTC ? on: December 05, 2017, 12:54:16 PM
If the fork can solve a problem, that may be worth to try.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please help me to choose a blockchain protocol for my custom Token. on: December 05, 2017, 12:47:15 PM
Ethereum Token is ok. You may reference to ERC20, but need to implement your custom function.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the bottlenecks of Bitcoin? on: December 04, 2017, 08:31:33 AM
1. block size.
2. proof of work
3. smart contract
5  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Need a new bitcoin with Turing complete smart contract on: December 04, 2017, 08:23:12 AM
I found this project qtum that integrates the EVM and POS based on bitcoin. Is there anyone want to change back to add EVM for bitcoin?

As bitcoin is becoming more and more popular, it is useful to introduce the smart contract, just like Ethereum. The bitcoin asset can be processed with a complicated logic. This will make bitcoin more conveniently suitable for finance and business. So do you gays would like to see a new fork with smart contract system such as EVM?

In my opinion using a turing complete language for writing smart contracts on an immutable blockchain is not sound enough and too error prone. Just look at all the hacks and silly mistakes that happen to due to questionable design decisions in Solidity. It may get better with improved tooling, but the way I see it Ethereum smart contracts still need to get a long way before being trustworthy.

That being said, Bitcoin already has some basic scripting capabilities that I wouldn't underestimate. There's even layers on top such as XCP and OMNI that allow for token issuance.

Further down the road we might even see something like Simplicity:

Which strives to increase Bitcoin's scripting capabilities without decreasing security.
Solidity is the first turing complete language for writing smart contracts in blockchain. Although it has many problems, it is still enough for most application. Bitcoin's scripting is not easy to use for the programmer. If Simplicity is as powerful as EVM, it will be nice.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A new smart contract platform? on: July 27, 2017, 02:55:57 PM
There are already other smart contract platforms. Some were originated from Ethereum forks (such as Ubiq and Expanse) and others are independent.

However, Ethereum is still under constant development and they have new releases planned to solve the issues you mentioned. You should try to read about the Metropolis release planned for later this year and plans of implementing Proof-of-Stake and other improvements in the network.

I googled it and found a post from february that looks interesting:
https://www.ethnews.com/ethereums-road-map-for-2017

So, for me, Ethereum technology still plays a major role in the future of blockchain and I am not looking for another smart contract platform to support.

The roadmap looks really good and the new features may be realize well. But some other platforms may have different solutions to the problem mentioned above. So if some of them have more efficient methods, there are still worth playing.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A new smart contract platform? on: July 27, 2017, 01:57:22 PM
In last years, the most successful smart contract platform is Ethereum. But Ethereum also has some problems such as congest of transaction in some ico moment, PoW's waste of energy...etc. Does a new improved smart contract platform can make sense? And if so, what the features you hope to add? or, besides smart contract, what the future blockchain would look like?

Grin

I recommend Electrum. It is very simple to use.  Smiley
12  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What we can do to confirm transactions faster? on: March 18, 2017, 02:59:32 PM
The confirming speed is limited on the size of block and the block generation period if there are no seg or ligtht.

The price is more stable than three years ago. The investment really a good choice.I don't know whether some institute investor buy bitcoins.
