61  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Corsair CX Series - 8 pin to 2x (6+2) PCI-E Cable HELP! on: March 12, 2015, 07:47:57 AM
I have one of these that came from a CX500M that just bit it, you want it?

I'd love to have a spare, thanks! What would you need for it shipped?

$5?

A fiver shipped for a cattail? I can do that. Can you post a pic, please?

funny, too. i just broke out a second 750 and am running 1 to 1 cables. 1500 watts to a machine that needs 600. Tempted to see how fast it will go!
62  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Strato's Antminer S5 Vertical Mounting Setup Guide - OC with Less Heat on: March 12, 2015, 07:44:41 AM
Should've clarified! Strato posted a guide, down to what size rack (heheh) you would need. Are there any pictures of that multi-miner vertical setup with a box fan as instructed? Or, was that just someone's ideas?

Strato has done it and was going to post some pics of his setup.
This is a simple outline / guide on how we are running our Antminer S5 Units in clusters of 6 with no overheating issues and a decent overclock

I only have 2 units on a wire rack, just standing on end loose (not tied down).  No problems for mine.

So the answer is no.

I don't know if putting a box fan right in the face of the intake fans is a good idea. You can't pressurize water, so a duo-prop setup will work. What a fan needs to operate optimally, I thought, was abundant air that the blades can bite into.

What I've done is use a vertical wire rack and a small tornado fan to create a low pressure at the open window by the fan intakes. The exhaust fan helps create this, and the exhaust from the miners blows across to the outtake fan's area.

Kinda proud of it and it works thus far. You can see a table leg (my desk) which keeps the heat from escaping up. I think.

would love to look with a really good thermal image processor to see what's really going on.

63  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 12, 2015, 07:24:45 AM
Anyone know what model the stock fan is on the S5? And if they are any other 35mm fans out there that can keep the S5 cool at ambient temps?

Also don't waste your money on getting the Corsair SP120 fans. While they are quiter than the Noctua's the temps will rise over 60c pretty much %100 of the time.

Which is absolutely fine, that's the same as an S5 in 35-40C ambients. SP120s are the quietest you can get an S5 - within reasonable bounds.

I have two S5's with the SP120s, just added a stock machine. The noise is atrocious, sounds like a hairdryer on low. Cannot wait to get another SP120 here. In my little windtunnel at 350M making 35 dBa the S5 machines are running low to low-mid 60s.

Now that I have cold air on the S5 with blower motor and 1500watts going to it... should spool it up and see what it can do!
64  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Strange S5 Occurances - Solve it get a btc reward on: March 12, 2015, 07:03:18 AM
I can run it on 2x CX750Ms, one PSU per board. Yes, no? Would that reduce the load on each PSU so much that efficiency goes out the window?

Yes that's fine, efficiency wouldn't be noticeably impacted.

Sweet. I like running 1 to 1 connects and not these 1 to 2 cattails. Now I have a project to stay up for... nice.

thanks again dogie... soon as i hear from my business partner will provide screen shots etc.

Interested by the vertical setup mounting guide, been looking through this thread.

Is there ever a picture of this rig, or was this just something thought up?

Yes.. Check out this specific message from Philip that has a number of pictures

Is that a "treasure map" to the long lost pictures?

Grin I was editing the message to get it to link to the exact post.  Not elegant, but this quote works

67  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 User Interface... where is the logout button... or is there one?> on: March 12, 2015, 05:04:55 AM
I haven't seen it. I just close the tab if necessary.  Smiley

So if some dingaling had access to your computer briefly the could open a browser, enter 1 see what IP's come up, click and wreak havoc?

No logout button?> Cray

You should be able to delete browser history.  In some last .... minutes.

But no logout that i know of.   Do you have a reason you need to logout?

Most things that you need to log in to would be well served with a way to log out as well. Somebody closes their browser, but they are not logged out. If someone opened a browser and hit 1 they'd have access to all your machines. I guess it is force of habit.

wtf is a gucci edition psu?? i cant see any info about this so please explain y ur listing a corsair psu for almost 1200 bucks?? im blown away by the prices in this thread and then i hit that item listed and i nearly fell outta my seat lol.

It is Gucci/Vintage, hence the price.

If you'd like.... I can do $950 shipped for you.

OP - was trying to find out how much your miner was and add a little humor, because needs some around here. glws.

if anyone read this far.... you can get an SP20 shipped to your door for $63 less than the gentleman here is asking. but the other SP20 may not be vintage or a collector "product", so you may want to check on that.
73  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking to buy a decent miner, budget is $200 on: March 12, 2015, 03:55:24 AM
Pm me your zip so I can figure out shipping. Can make you a deal for s3+ & psu

OP should look long and hard at what is offered here.
74  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Strange S5 Occurances - Solve it get a btc reward on: March 12, 2015, 03:45:56 AM
We're just going to replace the controller, not worth diving into it at this point.

YEAH... WHAT DOGIE SAID!

I can run it on 2x CX750Ms, one PSU per board. Yes, no? Would that reduce the load on each PSU so much that efficiency goes out the window? Or is plenty of power ok and the PSU's just cut back on draw?

When updated with the same firmware as the two sitting beside it, being run on clean good power, and the hard reset does not work... leads me to believe there is a hardware issue. It seems like it got the wrong board at Bitmain (on return) and they set it up to work. When it didn't work and was flashed the issue became clear.

I think Dogie done won this one!
75  Bitcoin / Hardware / Strange S5 Occurances - Solve it get a btc reward on: March 11, 2015, 03:50:20 AM
S5 arrived today as expected. Got it all setup with Corsair CX750M PSU. Fired up and mined along at the desired speed. All was well! Then it slowed down to 800's and util was was way up. Worried it was hot or starved for air or the PSU was dying. All checked out.

Power cycled the psu/miner and it came back up, went well, then slowed down. Figured a system reboot couldn't hurt. After that the problems were fixed for a while, then back to fluctuating hash rates. Blades are ~46 degrees. Reboot, machine ran fine for hours until I changed pools, same issue down to 100gh/s. Ugh.

Being a genius I decided I'd fix it for good, so I got out my hammer and started hitting it. That didn't help. So, I decided I'd do what I did when I had a similar fluctuation... download latest firmware and flash it. Which I did, after double triple checking the right version and machine etc etc. It is the same that is loaded on my other two machines which run just fine.

NOW! She's running like she should. BUT! And this is so odd... likely obvious something I'm missing...

Miner Status
Chain #1  ASIC 30 // Freq 350M // Temp 47 // 00000000000
Chain #2  ASIC 30 // Freq 350M // Temp 46 // 00000000000
Chain #3  ASIC 30 // Freq 350M // Temp 0 //  ----------------
Chain #4  ASIC 30 // Freq 350M // Temp 0 //  ----------------

Why is this odd? All the other S5's, updated with same firmware, stop after 2 chains. It is like the firmware is for a machine with 4 blades? Why the extra columns?

On the 4-chain machine - Load Average   2.64, 2.49, 2.48
On the 2-chain machines - Load Average   1.08, 1.20, 1.20

Paperclip reset time... right? Hit the reset in front with a clip, feel it click, hold it 5+ to 10 seconds, miner keeps on mining. Will not accept a paperclip hardcore reset. Changing pools seems to cause issues.

Reward is real and based on speed / creativity / complexity etc. If I'm simply an idiot sorry I can't pay too much. If you can diagnose and outline a fix? Take care of you.

Go!

thanks all

Smiley CDF of 635.55% is 0.99826

High Score? What does that mean? Did I break the game?

...
It's expected on average to be more than 635.55% 174 blocks out of 100,000

I once heard over 50% of statistics are just plain made up.

77  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Corsair CX750M PSU - BEST OFFER shipped USA on: March 10, 2015, 11:14:03 PM
The offer is/was by private message. The fine gentleman (and model citizen) may wish to remain anonymous. Consider it a phone in bid? So, $45 shipped in btc is best offer.

Have sold PSU's before, per my trusted feedback:

"Bought some PSUs from him, he even threw in a free gift! An absolutely great guy to work with, highly recommended!"

So I've got that and total consciousness on my deathbed going for me.

This is honestly a great price and if I needed one I would definitely match it, I just currently don't need psu's I offered so low because it would just be taking up space here and eventually be used.

Honestly you should apologize because my feelings = crushed.

Actually I'm happy you chimed in. Gets a bit more visibility, I'm selling a quality unit, and have good feedback from when I've done this before. Also sold a dozen S1's here some time ago, didn't know about feedback and received none. That one also went well, have photos of the S1's boxed, you can tell it isn't half assed.

Someone needs or wants this, or needs or wants a backup. I will just bide my time and plot against you MFers!

thanks

lol

And because I'm a jerk too.... notice OP says "I consider it a vintage or possibly collection product". You may also consider it to be your girlfriend, but that doesn't make it so. I don't see how a current and relevant miner could also be vintage at the same time anyway.

Your sale is getting hijacked and I'm not helping, sorry.

Currently btc is toying with $300. What are you asking for the SP20? Anything additional?

Now, I've got to get back to my thread. I'm selling a Corsair CX750M Gucci Edition for $1150.00
