2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DBC - Deep Brain Chain, a brand-new star of Artificial Intelligence on: January 05, 2018, 09:02:15 PM
This is a great project. But its marketing is very weak... Undecided  Bought a bag anyway.

Well it isn't really something that is to be marketed to the common folk. There is no use for this for me sitting in my boxers in my bedroom. As long as they are selling it to those who could and would actually use it.

I personally see tons of useful application for this type of thing if it is applied correctly. Being able to say, "i own this piece of data but x,y and z are currently using it but it does in fact belong to me." Then being able to rent that data out to whoever sees fit. I write the best inventory stocking algorithm and others simply pay me a small fee to use it in their vending machine business to use it for autonomous inventory control. Grossly simplified but the possibilities are there!

The video at the end of this: https://steemkr.com/neo/@oxfordcrypto/the-deep-brain-chain-project-usd15m-ico-that-neo-invested-in is pretty interesting. In terms of potential and offering something practical this coin seems to have a lot more going for it than most imho.

What would it take for Bryce to code the nodes into the wallet and recompile? Like 5 mins? Any way we can make this happen sooner than later?

The paper wallet could be displaying a smaller unit. I think you might be aware of that as you mentioned trying to find settings to correct that. The use of the whole mbtc thing always confused me but i am thinking the paper wallet might be functioning in a similar manor.

The bluechist qt from the website works. Navigate to C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Unobtanium if using windows. Create a text document by right clicking. Go to https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!network Click the 'node list' button and copy that information into the newly created text document. Save the file as Unobtanium.conf and make sure that the .conf is the actual extension of the file and it isn't unobtanium.conf.txt. You can make sure of this by deselecting the 'hide extensions for known file types' if that is selected it will display properly in the folder but it won't function as a conf file because it is really a txt file. This certainly isn't a user friendly system.

I agree on shutting down the games till things 'normalize'. No point in assuming unnecessary risk.

Be it nonthreatening or accidental it still is sort of a big deal that there is a pool that could 51% the network. I was under the impression that that was one of the key reasons to merge mine.

Would a solution to how many alternate algos to consider consist of looking at the amount of hash they contain, picking those that could offset a certain % of the sha power? Would that be enough to keep a 51% attack from taking place?

If we did 3 different algos and were able to make it so each one was 33% of the hashing power would that be a potential solution?

How exactly would the other algos work to keep the network secure? Is there parity needed between the speeds? Like ant miners mined at 1 g/hs and scrypt miners were 1 m/hs, how would that impact miners here? Would the alternate algo networks be that much weaker to the point of it being a drop in the bucket ? I have been out of the mining loop for a long while now so i could be waaay off base with my thoughts here.

Is it anything to be worried about, the deep re-orgs? Anything we could even do something about even if it was a cause for concern, or just something ya gotta roll with?

I think you got it all covered. So far so good.

I love how fickle everyone is. If i am to believe Zerohedge then a majority of the price decline for btc in the recent weeks past can be attributed to turmoil over a btc hardfork. Is it possible it was fake news the whole time? Just a fud campaign started by a group of people who missed the ship and hoped to catch up?

How would such a fork effect our network? Do we then need to pick a fork or does it happen automatically?

What? Who is billy meier. What is this case you speak of? Okay google told me he is someone who thinks he has contacted aliens. Spare me the tedium of more searches and share why his case is worth paying any mind to? Joseph Smith? Only i can read the plates... if one is to believe he has contact with e.ts why not ask them to contact other people?

49 u.s dollars in uno is what you are paying for memes? Or 49 uno for 7 memes which is 7 uno a meme for the top 7?

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-17/goldman-wins-patent-setlcoin-technology

How does one patent technology like blockchains? Did microsoft patent the operating system? Pretty much what we all know deep down. None of the major financial institutions are ever going to just join a coin, they want full control.

Are there any other coins you think that can be comparable to $UNO? That has the same potential ??

no.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Not even Bitcoin in 2011?

Lol well surely..

What do you mean by potential coinvesting? That is a very vague question.

How does one compare fiat currencies to gold and silver? I would say the comparison is somewhat similar. While they both hold value they are valued for different reasons.

Once the value of Uno gets high enough, and stays high enough, then we can really start talking. Only then will people begin to realize just what Uno is. That while it is rare and difficult to obtain, it is still valuable even if you can only gather tiny amounts.

How many other coins have been released with no ipo and a fair start for everyone? No genesis blocks of a million coins going to the founder before the coin has even begun. These things don't seem like huge deals until you realize how few coins actually have these things.

Which is what surprises me about eth. Too many ipo coins became nothing. Glad to see eth paid off for those who stuck with it!

Coins worth watching right now: Uno, btc, eth, xmr, ltc, sys.

I feel like the more coins that are created the less innovations we will see. Eventually the tech will stabilize into what it can and cannot do and there should be a saturation point on coins where it just isn't practical to have any more as those that already exist serve a purpose. Until they can do what the current coins do more efficiently there will be no reason to adopt new coins. I also can't help but feel like this blockchain stuff is going to be what pushes us into cashless society domain, for better or worse.

A question to all uno owners out there that mainly "hold" and not buy & sell (pump and dump?)....

Do you perceive uno to be more of a commodity, that it, a storage of wealth, as opposed to a currency? I'm asking because I was initially attracted to it because of its rarity (low supply) and community (all of you) and now view it as a very secure and stable long term investment. I see other altcoins out there with quantities in the hundreds of millions up to billions (like ripple) and think of them more as "cash" that are more unstable.

Of course that is how i view it. If i need the 'cash' i sell the uno for something more widely accepted, bitcoin, and then bitcoin into fiat if the cash money is needed.

I think Uno is oft overlooked because people can't get enough footing for it to be worth their while. That is in terms of pumps and manipulation. The biggest hurdle to overcome with Uno is distribution but that should work itself out. Looking at it in terms of tons makes sense that if each Uno is a ton, that is a lot! Fractional Uno is going to wind up being the most practical way of dealing with it, down to ounces perhaps? What would the notation of an ounce of Uno be in decimals?

I am out there. The proposition you set forth, four3200, is a tad bit beyond myself lol.

I would have to argue to some extent that faith is what gives money value. If i trust you as a human being or not has little bearing on what the dollar is worth. I need to trust that when it comes time to redeem my voucher that it is worth as much as you told me it would be. There needs to be a baseline acceptance of faith in the sense that if i am to accept whatever the token is as payment in exchange for my time. That when time comes for redemption of the token i feel it was worthwhile. If not the system *should* correct itself. No one would want the useless tokens after they come to find out they were deceived and they are not worth what they thought they were. Faith lends itself to the spread and acceptance of the token which could bolster it's value as it becomes more and more desirable.

Someone creates a token and claims they are worth $10 a piece. The faith comes from me trusting that when time comes i will get my $10 back.

Value was given to the token by the creator, faith is what leads to it's acceptance and spread.

I would say an expected bloodbath. All the coins are still way up, just not nearly as high as they were 2 days ago.

Zerohedge has been running an article about cryptocurrencies pretty much daily now. Either talking about adoption or the fluctuating valuations.

Are the sells walls at .01 suppression for accumulation or heavy handed traders? What do you all think about that?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: May 25, 2017, 09:16:49 PM
Natmccoy: Thanks for the clarification. A little less scary knowing that all those Uno belong to a collective instead of an individual lol!

It has become easier to justify the valuation of btc thanks to all the services that are accommodating it! A paradox of sorts, no one wants it when it is worthless but to give it value it has to be desired. WHEEE!

These fucking bots on bittrex are killing me. Are there any exchanges that don't allow bots?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: May 24, 2017, 05:01:58 PM
It could be due to adoption but i fail to see the catalyst for more adoption. Did they make a more user friendly wallet or some break through that makes them more usable for the average person. Apple releasing an iphone with btc wallet as included software, something of that nature. Those are things that would drive adoption. That is what leads me to believe it is more due to fragility and uncertainty with markets. Nothing has changed afaik but what are the other choices? Gold, silver, other types of investment vehicles, but they all tend to revolve around the same things. Crypto is sort of it's own ecosystem, for the time being. Did they approve that etf or anything like that dealing with btc? So that would be adoption too. I guess regardless of the reason why, btc would only really grow the more people adopt it. Can't argue against adoption being the driving force.

An exchange or company could be the whale, surely. It could be an trading bot gone rogue, only limited by our imaginations as to what it could be.

Well some 'unknown to most' buyer purchased the 15k uno from the auction sale of the recovered cryptsy stolen funds. After that happened the wallet began to fill up from 15k+ uno until it topped out @ 30k+ uno before being distributed to those other huge wallets. It is the wallet labeled as the cryptsy cold wallet that has seen all this iirc. There is a wallet there with 11k+ uno (uaZAA8ct...) that at the time of this saw activity 10 days 22 hours ago, then another wallet (uhMHvHb1...) for 7k that saw movement 10 days 6 hours ago. I also believe this wallet (uXYfoocr...) is tied to the same with 8.3k uno even though the activity was 5 days 23 mins ago. I also think they are mostly working from the cryptsy wallet, i figure the courts just turned over the wallet to them instead of worrying about transferring things to a wallet of the purchasers owning. I really have no idea though. I get confused trying to trace all the transactions around but the data is all there on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!wallets  for anyone inquisitive enough to poke around. It still won't tell us anything in the end but it can be fun to speculate.

The wallets list is more informative for information about our mystery whale. It appears that a few weeks ago they withdrew ~8,000 UNO, something like 30% of the total Bittrex UNO. So they're withdrawing some of what they're accumulating, at least for now, they could of course deposit it all within minutes. Our data is a little more limited since Bittrex removed their distribution tab, but in my opinion it's a safe conclusion that the person who is regularly buying up the ask side on Bittrex is also the one who withdrew thousands of UNO recently (& the one who had 10,000+ UNO visible on Bittrex when they still had their distribution tab).

Nice catch! I know the wallet was up to like 32k uno or something insane like that. They broke it down into less intimidating chunks.

There are a few possible scenarios that could come of this imho.

First is this whale is accumulating to raise the market to dump. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't accumulate as much as they have to just dump the market down unless they were going to move mountains to make sure there was enough support there for their dump. Very challenging considering the amount they are currently holding.

Second would be there is a plan to the madness. They haven't come out and said anything yet because they are still in the accumulation phase and do not want to talk or discuss anything yet until they have reached their objective accumulation. Once that goal is reached then maybe they will start discussing their plans. I.e We are going to back Uno with x, y, or z.

Third would be someone hell bent on trying to destroy the coin by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars just to end Uno. Maybe Uno and him were old lovers, spurned, lying in wait for the perfect opportunity to strike.

It is very nice to see this rally. A lot of it has to do with bitcoins rising price which to me has become an indicator of troubling times in fiat markets. Last time btc went nuts was during the fallout of the 'great recession' so even though it is to the moon right now i still can't feel excited knowing that due to uncertainty and econmic instability we see the value increase. At least my risks are being diversified in a sense. We all know that ath as just that, ath, btfd when btc comes back down and hope for another rally or do we think that this momentum will continue?

UNO rich list for May 23, 2017.  For the record...

Curiouser and curiouser! I do wonder what that megawhale is up to.

When I go to run ./unobtaniumd for the first time it says I need to reindex for the auxpow. I type yes and then it just repeats a y down the screen. Is this correct? How long does it take?
not exact figure have been told yet in this regard i am also in waiting list for this.
This happened to me as well the first time i ran Unobtanium and Prototanium,  what i did was run like this: ./unobtaniumd -reindex&

This allowed it to boot up without asking that question and started syncing.

Anytime after that I only used: ./unobtaniumd&

This worked for both unobtaniumd and unobtanium-qt each on separate machines.

Cool man, thanks for the positive contribution! Nice to see some new names poking about and sharing! I think this is the time to get on the Uno train.

I doubt i am the only person who has had this thought so ima throw it out there, what if this accumulator is Wulong? What if he came back? So far the trends fit his m.o the buying up and selling down weak hands shake out all while amassing more and more. Granted that would be the m.o of anyone trying to make the market move, but what if Cheesy

I am wondering when/if this miracle worker will ever step forward and talk about what is motivating them to make these moves. 30k uno, 15% of the supply! I feel so inadequate. Uno envy?  Grin
