1  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin stabilizing around $15. on: June 25, 2011, 02:48:09 AM
I'm guessing a lot of people have money or BTC stuck at Mt. Gox now.  Once people who were actually trading get back going, we'll see where the market takes it.  $15 is just a sign of no volume.

Less volume typically means more fluctuation, doesn't it? Because individual trades have more of an effect.

Only if there are large trades.  It seems that TH limits the bid/asks to 100 limit.

You could always use the 'at least I'm not Silk Road' argument, but I like them over spam :p

I'm jealous.  How'd you get your "scammer" tag?

Don't know, 2 many haters

Nah.  Probably more like you're a 10-13 year old that hasn't learned morals yet.  /shrug
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Reality Check!] Strong Indication MtGox Is Packing Up and running away w/ Tupac on: June 21, 2011, 11:15:06 PM
In recent news... Their has been strong allegations that people thinking Mt.Gox is running away with our money and running off with millions? Is it possible that on Tupac's last CD he said he would be coming back in 7 Years. Is this some sort of connection if it takes Gox 7 days to come back online he and Tupac will be on an island somewhere chillin?

Nice spam.  Took me less than 5-10seconds to read, not 60.  I'm hoping the admins of this forum deal with spammers like you appropriately.

Over 9000 times better than the OP.  I find the OP offensive.

pocblm is default for windows machines I believe.  With OC and -v -w128 I'm achieving 400m/hash
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network is in serious danger - 8.2 petaflop/s by “K Computer” on: June 20, 2011, 07:15:08 PM
Current network hashrate is 103915 teraflop/s while a single super computer is able to make 8.2 petaflop/s.

Quote
“It’s a very impressive machine,” Mr. Dongarra said. “It’s a lot more powerful than the other computers.”

The latest ranking of the top 500 computers, to be released Monday, is determined by running a standard mathematical equation. The winning computer was able to make 8.2 quadrillion calculations per second, or in more technical terms, 8.2 petaflops per second.

The performance of K is equivalent to linking around one million desktop computers, Mr. Dongarra said.

Yeah cause bitcoin is serious business to people besides us basement dwellers...

Be afraid everyone.

Until a basement dweller installs a bitcoin client on that computer and runs it for an hour.  Bazinga-he now has tons of bitcoins.

Edit:  And the difficulty gets automatically raised after he mines the X amount needed for the increase.  heh
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Who we are on: June 20, 2011, 07:08:49 PM
You can wire it in the same day or if you have money in your Dwolla it's almost completely automated.

How long is a deposit from dwolla expected to take today? The only guidance on your site says "up to 24 hours". What's the average for something sent during business hours?

Mine was transferred within an hour or so when I was testing the system a few days ago.

TradeHill has been great for me so far.  I only hope they work on security hardcore this week.  I'm hoping/wishing/expecting that they have a lot more security features up by this weekend at the latest.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tradehill -- it's 10:00 EST, where are ya? on: June 20, 2011, 04:06:27 PM
I just hope that Tradehill puts in captcha and/or many other security options that every typical bank has (phone texting), security questions, based off of IP changes, etc.  Otherwise I'll likely be moving everything out pretty soon until a more secure site pops up.  Tradehill has been great to me so far though!

I know this is overstated- but to anyone who doesn't have a TradeHill account, you can use this link to save 10% on fees:  http://www.tradehill.com/?r=TH-R12165

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silk Road up but Logins not working? on: June 19, 2011, 03:14:45 AM
Hi,

I know that SR was down for maintenance but as of yesterday my buying and selling accounts are fine and have no problem with signing on or with any selling or buying.

If you need help shoot me a message and I'll look on SR to see if I can see you on SR

They are not accepting any new accounts. So if you don't have an account then you will not get on. Only to the logon screen which is a sign in with a captcha.

Rock on.

AZ

How would I go about obtaining an account if I wanted one?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silk Road up but Logins not working? on: June 19, 2011, 01:38:12 AM
I can't seem to connect to the silk road.  Do I have the right link?  ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion/index.php  ?

Edit:  I'm just curious in the site, I don't do or sell drugs but I thought it'd be interesting to check out.
13  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining accidents having caused physical damage (overheating hw, fires, etc) on: June 18, 2011, 11:57:54 PM
Mechanical failure of a PSU fan blade, on a Corsair AX1200, after barely 700h of operation. Aah, the joy of running a mining cluster large enough to make improbable failures actually occur once in a while... After the blade broke, the imbalanced fan was making the whole computer chassis vibrate quite hard.
That's when you just break one off on the other side and call it good.   Cool

Impossible. There is an odd number of blades.

Break them all off  Grin

... and build your own!
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoins Have you Mined So Far on: June 17, 2011, 04:50:07 PM
1 week exactly.  11 bitcoins

That'll probably pay for the month of electricity... now for the "profits".
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Data proves Bitcoins are dropping to 0 on: June 17, 2011, 04:44:29 PM
This is proven with a mathematical linear regression, which is used by market experts to forecast future values. This regression clearly shows a trend towards 0, and could possibly even hit negative value. Sell everything.

I don't get it, why did you take your time to make this post? where you thinking 'people really need to see this important information i discovered.'

This. Based on my data analysis, Bitcoins are projected to hit 0 and even lower values within a few days. Mining Bitcoins will make you lose more money than just electricity once it hits negative values. GPUs aren't meant to calculate hashes in reverse, so it could cause catastrophic short-circuits and possibly explosions in the homes of people who have dozens of mining setups.

CATASTROPHIC SHORT CIRCUITS that may cause POSSIBLE EXPLOSIONS IN MY HOME due to my miners?!?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

I'll pay you $5 to take all of my bitcoins! Please!
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: goons are crashing the market again on: June 17, 2011, 04:41:56 PM
Difficulty goes up!  Price goes down!

Tiger Blood!!!!!

I don't get how the price is going down after a difficulty increase... anyone able to englighten me (and others)?  (Aside from the notion that the price falls every weekend, since it is currently friday.... and the prices usually haven't dipped (at least last week they didn't) until Saturday).
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suspicious Mt.Gox data on: June 16, 2011, 11:41:39 AM
Speculators (like me) are on a break from trading. I don't feel neither for buying nor selling until i see some action.

I was looking forward to getting into the game-kinda odd to see it stay at $20. Is there anyway to discern who is buying what and in what amounts? I'm curious if the artificial price is set high or low.
18  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: The new 6950 from Sapphire on: June 16, 2011, 11:36:20 AM
Hi guys,
As I was thinking of upgrading my GPU to the 6950 at some point (unless I;m told ny different),I'd b interested in how this card performs and how many Mhash/s this gives u and whether OC'ing is necessary (or how well n how far can u OC this card)

So gd luck 4 u in getting it up n running Smiley

The MSI twin frozr 6950s that I purchased (three) were running at 300MHash/s prior to flags/unlocking/overclocking.  Now they are at 410MHash/s.  One of them, in my gaming rig, I've kept at 360~ since I left the Ram clocked (didn't underclock it).
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New 6970 Overheating? on: June 16, 2011, 11:26:45 AM
I've contemplated water cooling my two 6970s.  I had to re position them due to my roomate not liking the sound/heat in the living room so they are back in my room blazing away at 87+'C at 100% fan. (While being super loud) (I have them overclocked so that each card is pushing 410-420 Mhashes/s, I lose a giant chunk of that hash rate (like 50 per card) if I under clock it to safe temps.

Should I continue running at close to 90'C or...

Would a water cooling set up last me for 5 years~+?  I might bite the bullet on the costs if I can re-use the pump/radiator/hoses for a long time (and only have to exchange blocks).  I often move my computers around a lot (lan parties, etc)  Would water cooling inhibit the moving process?
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: GPU ordering issues / How to make a 6 pin pcie connector ? on: June 16, 2011, 11:09:29 AM
A 4pin to 6 pin connector might work for you.  Assuming you have adequate power from your power supply.
