1  Other / Meta / Re: Incentivised/paid comments in ICO ANNs on: September 04, 2018, 07:52:36 AM
Report it. Try to include where they state this to save the mod dealing with it some time. (If its an external source e.g Discord)
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 02:25:50 PM
I've got one accumulator which has Morocco to draw. I also think its going to be a close one, but let's be honest I've been way off my predictions so far Cheesy

I also have Portugal and Spain to draw on that exact same bet. Yep there you go there's the doubt setting in....
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 02:07:01 PM
Same I was sweating for that. I was listening to it on the radio and I have about 3 accumulators riding on that result for uruguay. I do feel for Egypt though.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 12:03:45 PM
Yep, now I look a little silly as he's starting on the bench. Well, my prediction doesn't change really. I think I had it down as 3-1 for Uruguay. But if salah isn't put on early I don't see them scoring.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Thread deleted without any reason, please help! on: June 14, 2018, 10:42:17 AM
Were you offering an incentive to users that post in your thread? This could be stakes, shares or tea and biscuits.

This is one of the main reasons for a whole thread being trashed. Depending on who handled it depends on whether they left a "ghost thread" specifying why its been moved to the trash.

6  Other / Meta / Re: Whats The Deal With All These NEW Threads Being Created by brand NEW members? on: May 25, 2018, 09:56:15 AM
Just create a board for new members. You know it will have to be done sometime, so the sooner the better.

It's like Brexit. It was obvious from the very beginning that it would have to be a clean break with WTO rules, but the unicorns are trying to push as much money out of the country while they can.

Give us a couple of new member boards, and restrict newbies posting elsewhere. Lets rebuild Bitcoin Talk to take advantage of all the changes that are happening in the financial world. No thread starting until you have a post count of 5 would help as well.

Some of us 'newbies' have actually joined Bitcointalk to learn more. If we are restricted to 'newbie' boards, and we have questions to pose, how would we get the answers? It would be pointless having newbies answering newbies questions, and the more experienced users wouldn't be bothered by the 'newbies' boards.

Not sure why you think newbie sections are only for newbies. Plenty of higher ranked members answer, and participate in discussion there. Plus, it's a great place to look to reward merit, because of the constant questions, and answers.

Having said that new members used to be limited to the beginners and help section before meeting certain criteria. Unfortunately, it proved ineffective to spammers, and only hindered legitimate users.

I don't see it returning unless there's a major shakeup from last time.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Been over a month since my account was hacked. No reply from mods :( on: May 21, 2018, 06:42:39 PM
No, you can message them periodically for a friendly reminder just in case they missed it. Other than that you'll just have yo wait. Several members have been waiting for 6+ months.

The pinned post specifically says one message only Sad

Hilariousandco has also suggested sending them a reminder every so often. Its not uncommon for them to miss messages since they get a lot every day.

As long as you aren't pestering them every day it shouldn't be a problem. Especially since other users have followed this advice and got their account recovered.

If you want to steer of the side of caution send them a message 3 months later and don't send any more after that and just wait patiently.

When I say periodically I mean roughly every 2 weeks to a month.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Is buying/selling accounts against the rules? on: May 21, 2018, 04:13:02 PM
Allowed per forum rules? Yes. Although is frowned upon by the community. I can't quote the guidelines as I'm on my phone, but you can check yourself on mpreps thread.
10  Other / Meta / Re: For Moderators: My thread updates were deleted. Kindly let me know the reason. on: May 21, 2018, 01:38:11 PM
Updates are also limited to once per 24 hours. I don't see why would you need to create a new post every time instead of just editing your last one.

13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.[2]

I guess I've already mentioned it in my post that I update the thread every "4" days. I don't get when it's not a bump, why do I need to delete my earlier update. I also asked for a MODERATOR's reply  Roll Eyes

Updates are effectively bumps otherwise bumps would be disguised as updates instead. Its common for people to have updates/change logs below their OP. What's the problem with doing that?

Moderator will likely tell you something similar.
11  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 21, 2018, 11:24:07 AM
Agreed to some of extent, but how about include them also?
For example, I want to improve my reporting to have a 100% and my reports are 50% bad. How could I improve it without seeing it?(Just an idea because I would like to report regularly once I bump into one of them)
Striving towards 100% is a good attitude, but honestly anything more than 60% is considered good. Your nearly there!

I don't know the number of reports you would have to make for it to appear, but I'm assuming you could just watch the posts after reporting them or if you haven't reported that many your accuracy is likely going to fluctuate a lot, and you can judge whats correct or not from that. By the time your percentage doesn't change all that much you'll probably have access to the more in depth stats.

On my main account I have tonnes of bad reports probably the most on the forum don't worry to much about it. The community would prefer you to make reports you are unsure about rather than ignoring a post that requires an action.

If the deciding factor of reporting a post or not is because of your accuracy you are doing it all wrong. This I'd why moderators are there to review your report and I'm sure they don't mind having bad reports.
12  Other / Meta / Re: My thread updates were deleted on: May 21, 2018, 07:22:44 AM
Its always been a rule to delete old bumps. Updates can be edited into the OP. Separate updates can look like bumps which is likely why they were deleted.

Either edit your updates into the OP or the post underneath the OP.
13  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod abusing reputation system on: May 19, 2018, 02:11:30 PM

Again I did not know accounts were worth nothing, even more gaming accounts like steam or battle.net commonly sold online

If you want to be an asshole ok go on won't care, will add you both in ignore list

Its a good thing people won't just ignore your trust Wink oh and by the way there's a sticky in the lending section which even Vod himself posted in with the community accepted guidelines: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.msg6311902#msg6311902

You can't just claim ignorance I'm afraid as everything has been clearly outlined before your request. Let's just say the collateral was valid for pity sake...it would only cover 70% (your words) and not the generally accepted 120%

14  Other / Meta / Re: [WTF] I reported a post for plagiarism and my accuracy rate went DOWN!?! on: May 18, 2018, 11:31:02 AM
The chain you found, OP, resulted in 2k+ deletions. And I just nuked another ~30 accounts behaving similarly, posting minor variations of the same thing hundreds of times. Really annoying. If anyone sees more of this nonsense, please report it.

The sad thing is this will just be the tip of the Iceberg. There are numerous people farming dozens if not hundred of accounts this way just by posting "nice project" or "waiting for bounty/airdrop" or whatever.

We're also currently being spammed by a new wave of bots that copy a random post and paste it in another random thread. They're pretty easy to spot as the posts are way off topic but there's seemingly hundreds of them. Must have nuked going on 50 already since yesterday.

Hundreds per thread a day. I would say well over a 1000 a day bombarding the altcoin section. Almost all of them are either copy and pasted garbage or generic responses like the "nice project" ones. Plus these one that combine several different compliments to make it appear more constructive at first glance.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: May 18, 2018, 10:14:58 AM
Legend has it 1 Howeycoin can be traded in for 100 merits.

I'll reserve he Welsh translation because I'm sure that would be useful.....

Lol this is a funny joke, a fake website and ICO were made by SEC, and pinned on the top of bitcointalk. And if theymos "endorse" this what happen Cheesy Cheesy

You misunderstand theymos sees how profitable it is to become a altcoin manager Wink
16  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 18, 2018, 10:07:34 AM
Anyone who beats my 1 reported post can have a howeycoin on me Wink

I don't even have a link to my report history on this account for some reason. I do on my main one but there's obviously nothing there since I haven't needed to report anything in years.
I suppose you haven't reported much on this account? Which would somewhat support my idea of it being tied to number of reports.
17  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 18, 2018, 09:24:03 AM
That's interesting. Either rank based or number of reports based. As the majority of users likely wouldnt use this stat unfortunately.
