41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 30, 2014, 11:02:31 AM
Hello Bitmark community,

Glad to be onboard with you  Wink ! I'm a Dogecoin and Reddcoin fan and now happy to have come accross Project Bitmark, if memory serves I think it was through a CoinDesk article or other crypto-news site.
I find the projet to be hugely ambitious and love how it goes beyond the social aspect that Reddcoin wants to address.

I went through the github Wiki & read a nice interview I got forwarded on Twitter by the Bitmark account. I still have a lot of questions but I'm confident and hope everything will clarify as the development keeps advancing (respect to the team btw Wink).

I'm currently bootstrapping an apparel company and I thought, heck, it would be amazing to integrate Marking with my articles. Looking forward to learn how this can be done but I can already imagine putting QR codes or NFC chips on some parts of my products Cheesy

Oh and I was wondering why don't you guys hang out on Reddit more often?
Also, I'm seeing that it's something like 20-40% less profitable to be mining BTM now (awaiting the drop in difficulty following the drop in the hashrate!), so I think I'll be bouncing between mining altcoins + converting to BTM and directly mining BTM for a higher hashrate although mine is quiet low. What's your strategy?

Cheers !

Hello and welcome. The developers and team are indeed hard at work on the project. It's also great to hear that you are one of the many potential adopters.

I will let others provide you with a more full response as rather busy myself! But, in short, I have talked before in this thread about the investment vs profit subject. Personally, I have made a considered decision to keep my hashrate constantly on Bitmark thereby supporting the network through all difficulty levels.

Enjoy...

www.minep.it stole everyone's funds and zeroed out our accounts, they should be shut down and reported to the authorities.

I don't believe they have intended to do anything malicious and I am the one who reached out to Minep.it for them to add BTM. I always liked Minep.it and believe there is more to the issue than we can see. I will be investigating it.

I have been burned many times in the crypto space - but, it is also easy to assume the worst. I agree with Bates - let's not be too quick to assume. Most of these services are run by one, perhaps two, people. Anything can happen - illness, family crisis; life...

For my part, I manually withdrew as soon as confirmed balance became available...

@xchrix

doge_btc works for one tradingPair call but not in tradingPairs list context call i.e. btc_usd,doge_btc,blah_blah

Is this a bug?

I hold my hands in the air... my bad! Typo my end... Smiley

Of course it had to rise first before it fell. But I am really worried about my investment in this coin. Sold half of the coins. When/if we go below 100 I am selling the rest of them. In how many weeks would you expect the price to go back to 240k?

Sorry you are asking in the wrong place, we are developers who make things. Nobody can predict such things.

THIS! Smiley Thank you. The market will always move in waves. IF you look at little at difficulty, hype etc you can move along with the market.
As an investor/trader you should know this. Don't bug the developers about the price.

IMO coinsolidation is one of the best developers out there, looks like he got everything covered from every angle. Always has a good answer. As an investor, I am not worried! Can't wait to see how bitmark matures! Smiley

There is a massive difference between those who invest and those seeking short term gain - they both wear completely different spectacles, have polarised perspectives, and speak in such different terms that they struggle to understand each other...

So, anything to look forward to that might boost the price?

People using marks? Cheesy

Hello,

I will not be very active those 3-5 days, because I have some health issues (I broke my head on a sidewalk so I can't think a lot Grin), but I have contacted rob72 and LordPaco. LordPaco is sending me FAILs about future development. His help is VERY APPRECIATED and I will write details when I'm better.

P.S. I still don't have answer from developer. I will write him today.

Best regards,
Spartak Tomanov

Oh no Mr. B! Sorry to hear about your head/sidewalk conflict!

Hope you feel better soon... Did you get a vid of it as it would earn much FAIL! Smiley

Just a quick question...

Would like to use the API for price information for a service. Fully intend caching data locally so as to limit api calls to say, 2 per minute or less.

Is this acceptable use?

Are you adding any new trading pairs?

Smiley

2 per minutes is ok if everything runs fine. if the server needs much time to respond then its overloaded Wink
yes i am adding every new trading pair which is traded on one of the exchanges automatically.

@xchrix thank you for reply - probably should have added that there only 10 perhaps 12 trading pairs that I need - just reading your api doc - I see how to do that.

That's great - ty

So sorry I missed this one - question to the earliest investors: what was it that set it apart for you, how did you know from the start that it might be a winner?

Good question. For me personally, I had just starting learning about all the new innovations in altcoins that had happened so far in the last 10-12 months or so, and I was reading the forum here and I came across coinsolidation making a few posts to discus the theory and ideas behind alternative currencies.

For a few weeks or so there were multiple threads where we discussed the ideas behind features, developer funding, and what matters and what doesn't when it comes to digital currency. When I started reading the alt forum here the last thing I would have ever expected myself to do is get involved with a project, but after talking with coinsolidation and hearing his ideas I naturally just kind of fell in to the project. Even though I personally was skeptical(not against, but just not sure) about a lot of his ideas of what would make an alternative currency work, it seems that thus far he's known exactly what parameters were optimal and how important it was to build value from scratch.

I wasn't the only one who noticed what he was doing, and over time more and more like minded people joined the project. We had ~70 pages of interesting discussion with none of the typical idiocy that comes with being here on bitcointalk. Luckily for us our project has already outgrown bitcointalk and it's very unlikely that you'll see much from Bitmark here on bitcointalk in the coming months and years ahead.

Spot on Smiley

In brief:

Visionary, intelligent, revolutionary. It is about what it will become. Do not think in terms of investment but more of involvement. A global collaboration of ideas contributing to a new era of reputation and money at web scale driven by many but with a solid and trustworthy envisioner shepherding the process.

Its value should not be seen in terms of profit. The web space will profit.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 05, 2014, 07:45:32 PM
What's up with the hash rate?

Nothing is up about it, it's very much down.  Smiley

Yesterday for example only 1160 BTM were created, less than 10% of what would have been normally.

Very happy about this, we have a very active team which is now in the double digits working daily, hardly any BTM being created, and a low volume market.

It's very healthy if you consider it in terms of currency, you see even with a room full of miners or a bank full of cash, you couldn't acquire enough BTM to become a whale no matter what you tried.
Or if you consider it in terms of a project, there is no noise or distractions, just lots of productivity.

It's nicer to have a busy team environment and an inbox full of interested parties, than a thread full of speculators, shills or noise.

Please do not worry about hashrate or price, we have ensured that both will be relatively stable and grow smoothly when our systems are being used, which is not now as we are creating them.

If anybody feels it's all a little boring, you are perhaps looking at the wrong things - check out our open project management, look at our github, or join in with our team on stack, I can assure you that side is anything but boring, and that's where it matters.

Warmest regards & thank you to all for letting us work without distractions, and to the many who are joining in.

Applause, the distribution is in slow-mo, the development at light speed - I've never seen a more transparent coin!

Well put Wink
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 03, 2014, 01:41:08 PM
Thanks, that is exactly it.

Somebody with contacts and your exact mentality is currently working hard to reach out VCs who have future interest in the system we are creating (not the currency btm), perhaps something will come of that.

I quote: "it's a bit fkn annoying that timelines / cash, become so difficult when doing stuff you believe in.  hopefully we can change that paradigm [with marking]".

The irony is that this project provides the funding model for any project like it in the future, in any domain, it's a crowd sourced funding model and reputation system where if you work hard and create things people like, the likes given (marks) directly translate to money which funds what you do organically.

Perfect!

Good thinking and big thanks to You!
It is a great pleasure to have man like you in community like this.

Regards to all

TY  Smiley

...

In short, this is the first alt I've seen with significant innovation to get involved.  I've donated to the project and offering my time and coding to help make it a reality.

Look forward to working with you all!  Cheesy

Welcome indeed  Smiley
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 03, 2014, 11:56:45 AM
...

Everything reduces to what is in demand, and bluntly, funding. If we were a well funded project there would be a team of people working round the clock on many different aspects and producing great things, that's in addition to my own productivity increasing substantially - given even quarter of the funding of these IPO scams people are so keen to invest in we'd be one of the most exciting productive and innovative projects on the web, let alone this forum. This is not the case, so please bare with me whilst I (and others) react to demand and have several meetings per day, we are working incredibly hard to create something new with far reaching impact and scope, far beyond the scope of this forum and existing crypto currency userbases, and beyond that of all current alt-coins combined.

In the early days I donated 50BTM then later, a further 200BTM as i did not see why Mark should both develop and fund the original proposed getMarked 'pot' (200BTM at that time). Later still, I donated an additional 0.2BTC This was all before the idea of 'Developer Loans'... Perhaps the key word here is donated

So, what am I looking for? Simple; for Bitmark & Marking and any other associated service to grow and evolve into a fully fledged globally accepted thing of value. Not simply that as a result its BTC price will rocket and return me a nice profit, but more so that the services adopting & using Bitmark / Marking will flourish with it.

If I had the funds, I would not wait one heartbeat to be speaking with Mark about his weekly, monthly etc. financial needs and how his full time attention to the project could be guaranteed.

I believe there is a significantly 'bigger picture' here than mere investment & return...

Hello, world,

We may have some news pretty soon.

Stay FAILed!

Hey Spartak!  Cool

Hey, Mr. A. Wink I hope that your vacation was great. The summer here is over since 1th September. Sad

Vacation was stressful as no time to get on with projects, only lists of things to do in the home - grrrr! Never mind!  Roll Eyes

What's new and exciting then?  Smiley

56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 02, 2014, 09:49:58 AM

i figured out what i was missing the other day re the difficulty. hadn't equated the slowness of the blocks vs the number of days to change to lower diff, rather than the standard 11hrs.

also i see that we miners that are sticking to the network are true and all else are here to get the short term payout, not complaining, but would be nice to have a greater reward over the slow period for those that are sticking with the program ... or maybe the big miners stick around rather than increasing the diff and running. hopefully one day.

For my part, and some might say I'm a fool, I have all my eggs in the one basket that I feel most likely to succeed in the crypto sea.

I am mining no other currency; no more multi-switching-to-BTC pools - just 100% commitment to Bitmark. I am working on some projects with a view to adoption and trying to leverage more time to apply to such projects.

Yes, massive hash rate applied as soon as the diff drops - nature of the beast unfortunately.

Mark - any news on the IPM yet? (It's not unusual for me to miss announcements!)  Smiley
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 02, 2014, 06:24:35 AM

Envious? I've been doing steady 40MH/s through the whole 235 Dif

Do you have a rough comparison of the amount of BTM you mined during the high diff and low diff period?

Este, I would have to do a bit of analysis of the transaction log - will report back...
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: September 01, 2014, 05:33:10 PM

spent most of last night reviewing identifi from sirius/martti, spoken with him about it all day so far. It seems that our projects have mutual needs, so will be working to have identifi in with marking, which will give us a big open p2p trust network as another backbone for our system Smiley

Very interesting - skim read the Git info - will try and absorb it properly!  Smiley

EDIT: 2014.09.01 11:24 Now back up...

Hopefully ideas and interesting things will start heading in to overdrive very very soon Wink

I believe this will be the case...  Smiley
