1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A history lesson on Bitcoin memes on: June 01, 2018, 10:54:27 AM
You could argue memes cheapen cryptocurrency by promoting low effort content. You could even say it discourages people from taking cryptocurrency seriously.

Those that have been in this game for a while know that if you do not laugh - you will cry.

Embrace the memes - it's how fast adoption will happen.

We'll start with the OG Bitcoin meme. It was created on this very forum by The Mighty GameKyuubi - HODL!

In his drunken stupor he misspelled his post title "I AM HODLING" - inside the thread contained a poetic paragraph of intoxicated rambling.

Please do yourself a favour and give it a read. It's history man. Museums will print this out and display it for all to see in the future.

Next up we have Satoshi Nakamoto - the anonymous founder of Bitcoin.

While we have no idea who this mysterious crypto guru is - it didn't stop channel 4 news from hunting down a poor bloke with the same name in 2014.

After a car chase through the streets of LA, they managed to squeeze a few words out of the man himself. He denied any involvement with the Bitcoin project.

His reaction triggered a creation of memes and we're all thankful for it.

"Are you Batman?"

"No" - Bruce Wayne

You never know...

Some of these memes have better origin stories than Batman - feel free to read the full article for yourself:

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are investors looking for in an ICO? on: June 01, 2018, 10:33:55 AM
When launching an ICO - every little detail matters.

The most important features are the whitepaper, website, team, experience, and community.

For many investors, that's not enough. We take into account the graphics you use, the layout, your UI, your videos, your social media accounts.

If you don't have your founder in front of a camera answering every question thrown at him or her you lose points.

If you want a super detailed look into this I wrote an article and made a video literally yesterday where I touch on launching your own ICO. EVERY DETAIL MATTERS.

While I think the benefits far outweigh the negatives, you can't ignore the dangers of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

When jumping into the cryptocurrency world, you are taking full responsibility of your money.

Beginners are at a high risk of losing their money through simple mistakes. They're at an even higher risk to lose it to scammers and hackers.

There will always be scum trying to steal their way to the top rather than earn it. All we can do is give out useful and helpful information while we wait for the super developers to make everything bulletproof
