Probably best to eBay it..ungraded for 3.9BTC is not going to happen.

Kind of a shame that the market is not here and it is on eBay.  The 2011 series 1 ungraded go for about $1500 there so minus fees that is about $1350.

Graded coins go for more, and series 2 which are worth LESS then a series 1 tend to go for $1900 in good condition.   I would estimate that if you got it graded as something ms-63 or greater you could get $2500 for it.

It seems like I really should have that coin graded, as it's in such good condition.
I just don't trust ANACS that much, shipping internationally uninsured, they didn't even answer my mail..

I would need some trusted user in the US who does the ANACS stuff for me, and would -after selling it- send it to the buyer as well.

What's the spelling mistake?

The very first coin Casascius produced, the 2011 "1 Bitcoin", first series, had a spelling error in the hologram. It says "casacius" instead of "casascius". The second series and all other coins have the correct spelling.
Some people say this makes the first series more valuable, comparable to stamps with printing errors. Fact is, all first edition have that error, and those are special and rare by themselves already.

Bid price lowered to 3.9 bitcoin, before throwing this casascius coin at ebay.

commons.wikimedia.org

google image search :  "site:sf.net"   -> everything is GPL license
google image search :  "site:bitcointalk.org" -> be sure its from bitcointalk

also search for "gpl license" or "creative commons" images

That's some good hints, thank you!

I found some websites collecting royalty-free cliparts and images:

Especially the first one seems pretty useful.

Sounds pretty dodgy, But i dont blame him or anybody else for not trusting an Escrow.

Yes, noone is forced to use/trust an escrow, as ridiculous this sounds to me.
But everyone who bids in an auction where an escrow is stated in the auction rules, is bound to this.
Else it's a breach of contract and a strong sign for a scamming attempt.

Gave you idiots some very deserve negative trust because I "feel", without evidence, that you ente holomen tomatocage and that other idiot are alt accounts of each other. This is just my feeling. I'll decide to create a scam accusation page later if I "feel" like its necessary.

Yay, my second reference! Thanks, justbtcme.

lol u left me bad feed back why? it doesnt do shit lol and i never left u any feed back till now

Gave you and notserp an explaining positive reference for this.

So anyone can give negative trust, accuse people of alt accounts and create a scam accusation page just because he "feels" someone is a scammer?

Cool. I will keep this in mind. I do get bored sometimes at night.....

Are you honestly telling me you want to buy what you bid upon, and stick to the rules you agreed upon in the auction OP?
Feel free to explain what other motivation you have for your (constant, as it seems) behavior.

might be interested - is there a new deadline?

No deadline yet, I'll leave this open for a few days.
Would you prefer to have or not to have a deadline?
After bids come in, I'll set a reasonable deadline, which should be in everyones interest too I guess.

I will hold a presentation end of May, so it's time to work on some slides.
I bet dozens and dozens of presentations about cryptocurrency were held already, most slides created from scratch.

Let's collect media useful for slides!
They should be in the public domain, which won't be a big problem with the community's spirit.

I found some places with general Bitcoin logos:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Promotional_graphics
https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=1756.0
https://bitcoin.org/en/press

Is there more out there?
Stuff like:
- an image of a centralized network and a mesh/p2p network
- a nice visualization of a chain consisting of individual blocks
- the bitcoin-release graph up to the year 2140

Also, there were several huge and nice infographics already. Maybe some of them are public domain, so we can borrow parts from there?

Of course, some catchy quotes like on
https://bitcoin.org/en/press are always good!
I will use the "Bitcoin is ratpoison" quote, from "Buffets right hand" in my presentation :-)

Either way, I'll add to this when I find more.

The winning bid turned out to probably be a scamming attempt:

This coin is again up for sale.

Starting bid, again, is at 4.6 BTC.

What happened:
I held an auction for a "2011 Casascius 1st edition coin".
Justbtcme bid 5.0 BTC via PM, which was the winning bid.
He asked me to send the coin first. Refused any escrow, "I don't trust them". Didn't accept any of my various compromise offers, didn't make any reasonable offers himself. Then stopped giving any meaningful replies at all.
The original auction OP clearly said that an escrow is to be used in regular cases.

No funds were stolen, so I can't prove 100% that justbtcme is a scammer. On my opinion this does, however, warrant a public warning.

All correspondence via PM.

Amount in question:
Attempted sum: 5.0 BTC / "1 Casascius 2011 1st edition coin".

Payment Method:
BTC, after receiving the goods.

Proof of Payment:
----

PM/Chat Logs:
To be disclosed on request.

Additional Notes:
This is now resolved.

Edit on 2014-08-07:

After talking with justbtcme via PM and this thread, as well as reading what other business he is up to, I no longer believe he is -or tried to be- a scammer. He only backed out of some trades. Which is annoying, but not scamming. I am confident that he takes his business more serious now, and that this unnecessary drama will not repeat. Him doing quite a lot of successful trades is a good indicator for this as well.
I am leaving this thread alive for transparency reasons that this is resolved, not as an ongoing warning.
I am in friendly contact with justbtcme. I would sell to him again, would I have more coins to sell at this time.

597  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Improving Offline Wallets (i.e. cold-storage) on: April 28, 2014, 05:09:51 PM
So the online computer has all necessary info, passwords, certificates, to connect to the 'offline' computer and have the transaction signed? With no human interaction? This sounds like a completely online system for me.
Yes, you wrote about 2FA. It might be safe when you do all of this right, including having things in mind like MITM- and replay-attacks.
The point about "cold storage", "offline computer" and "airgap", is, well, the non-connectivity to any other system besides the operator sitting in front of it ;-)

599  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: April 27, 2014, 11:46:01 AM
Is there any way to sweep a private key without typing in on a connected computer ?

Something like :
- enter the bitcoin address on the connected computer in a watch only wallet
- scan the blockchain for all funds on this address
- create a raw transaction to move them to the armory wallet
- move the transaction to the offline computer
- enter the private key there, sign the transaction
- broadcast the transaction back from the online computer ?

That would be a very handy feature!
Sweeping brainwallets, coins, paperwallets and all.

Hey guys, I have some questions about margin trading and need clarifications urgently, please help! Thanks in advance!

1. If it's possible to close some of the unused swaps? Let's say I have used 100 btc swap and I want to close 10 of them, how do I do this? I tried the claim option but it seems it requires me buying 100 btc first.
You can close unused swaps when clicking on the blue tab. Then a list opens, where you can close individual loans. If you only have one fat 100BTC loan, it's more complicated to close a part of it. Ask here if that's the case.

2.  If it's possible to do margin trading without reserving swaps first? If so how will the interest calculated?
Yes! You then automatically take the cheapest loans/liquid available, both from fixed and variable rates. When you reserve swap yourself, you can regulate better what loans exactly you use, but it's not mandatory.

3. If I have 50 btc in the trading wallet, then I use margin sell, will it sell my 50 btc directly, or it will still borrow 50 btc swaps? How will the interest calculated in this case?
All three wallets are completely independent from each other. Margin stuff only happens in context of the "trading" wallet. This separation is strict, so you won't be using funds from other wallets, and will take loans instead.
When you do "margin sell", in your case with funds in the "trading" wallet, you still take up loans and work with borrowed money. If you want to avoid that, you should use "exchange" and not "margin trade" :-)

4. When reserving swaps, sometimes it display 2-30 days, but these different contracts have different number of contract too, how will I be able to reserve the swaps for the best result? For instance, I want to reserve contracts for 7 days, then will the '2 days' contract be received automatically? What's the most effective way to reserve certain amount of contract within a range of days?
You won't see directly what offers are combined into one line. You can use http://charts-bfxdata.rhcloud.com for more info.
When you want only the 7 days offers, you simply enter "7 days" as lending time. The shorter ones will be ignored, the 7 days and longer ffers will be taken - all at 7 days length.
Your workflow will depend on what your priority is. If you want to always have the maximum length that is offered, you more or less have to pick up each offer individually.

5. If I close the swaps used in the margin position directly at the 'total resturn swaps' page, without placing any orders at the margin trade to close the position, what will happen? I tried this and found the selected used swap will be removed, but I didn't notice any difference on my account's balance.
I'm not sure if I understand exactly your scenario. I would guess this would close your position, and buy/sell at market rate to level out your books?

And, as always, people here suggest to start with small amounts, play around, explore, and learn the behavior of the platform and the market! :-)
