dev still active? Might be a coin worth holding.

I think if there is one coin worth holding, it is this one.

Does anybody know if coins that have staked need to become mature again before they can stake again?
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: April 21, 2015, 07:52:17 PM
Dear AeroME community,

Its been a few weeks since I have actually replied to ANYONE, which is fair to say the whole KL saga knocked me for six.

It is/was a totally despicable act that occurred and as such deeply affected myself on many levels the effects of his actions were also felt by members of my family, My dad most of all..

My father was shocked to hear what happened as I confide in him, not only about the some of the technical challenges I faced at times 'or' about the bad things which have happened but also about the good things and about the direction I wish to pursue and journey I am on with this project.

He is a layman in terms of cryptos and computers and disconnected from this enough to provide me with a different perspective from which I may not have already considered and its from someone who i trust implicitly.

A great example of this can be seen when my dad becomes excited for me when he see's my face light up after I discovered a solution to a problem which I had been working on or when the AM price goes up sometime he even calls me to say.. Sim have you check the bitcoin prices.. lol.

All this from a computer illiterate, 60+ year old man with severe health problems but is also wise and deeply caring person who is facing the prospects of the end of his life.

My father is extremely fascinated in cryptos and in the blockchain, the technologies in general from his limited understanding garnered together from the nuggets of information we discuss with each other from time to time. He wants to see his son succeed with his passion and when he learned about what happened he was devastated as he understood how this could jeopardize my work.

After he learned about what happened the first thing he said was to poor guy that got ripped off, is there any way we could help him!!! This was from my father own lips, he was actually concerned about the victim. It was his initial reaction..  This is the type of person who taught me how to act, how to grow into a man and to be a kind, caring and considerate human being.

I am not ashamed to admit it which is exactly what I said to KL shortly after I became aware about the situation I attempted to contact KL to find out what the fuck went on and why he done what he did only to be meet with brutal honesty, which quite frankly blew me away. I expressed my feelings, which may sound "touchy-feely" but thats how I felt and still feel to this day. I am extremely upset that someone could do this so blatantly BUT doubly so as the act originated from someone so respected (at the time) from within our own community.  I expressed this to KL roughly like what I just said in the previous paragraph above. He replied and I left it at that.

By now, to most its all water under the bridge; sort of speak. To me its still a topic of which remains unresolved.

Again, I am being frank, this situation called into question my own judgement and resulted in me questioning myself about the amount of responsibility individuals involved with cryptos have 'or' are allowed to have. Trust and respect are very hard earned and to have this almost wiped out in one fail swoop has been a wake up call.

I try not to listen to the regular fudsters here as they are mostly ignorant and scarce of the facts surrounding issues they comment about. Firstly, about me as an individual, secondly my motivations, thirdly about my true intentions.

Its very difficult to convey in words someone's true intentions and to then also truly believe someone without seeing them face-to-face to determine exactly the type of person one is is extremely difficult to gain insights into someones true intentions and to gain a level of faith and trust based on faceless communications.  Its only natural and is what you guys have to face and its understandable for it to be called into question. I understand this and is to be expected.

This is the problem I face in cryptos,  faith through anonymous communications, its a very hard thing to "truly" accomplish on a social level that is, but in a computational system its quite simple to accomplish via various trustless mechanisms. The whole KL saga is a great illustration of why the Blockchain is the answer to many of the problems we face as a species. It will negate the need to trust for many of our daily tasks, etc.  This whole thing was a blessing in disguise. It reaffirmed my distrust in man kind and systems in general. It confirmed my thinking that open and fair trustless systems are required to counter human base responses along with many other situations where faith/trust matters are involved and/or necessary.

Now, if I have been both directly and indirectly affected by KL actions and I am very upset. I can totally understand to a certain point how trust/distrust can be called into question.

I can only imagine how you guys, the community, my friends may or may not interpret my actions. I can only say something so many times..

If I were of the same mindset as KL why would his actions affect me so deeply if I did not care??  Do you not think If I could do something within my abilities I would? YES I WOULD.

I am still persevering to give back to the community, if you like, proving myself to all the detractors who say majika this or majika that.. blah blah to that I say FU. please leave me alone to do my work and to get over this moment of sadness.

This is NOT to say, during this period where i re-adjust my mindset I will not produce what i promised, nor does it mean i stopped caring about the project and the community its for. I am always here albeit not proactive in a social/community sense, I have alway been a bit introverted its just my genetic makeup I guess. It does not make me an idiot nor does it make me care less about you guys I respect myself enough to ensure I live upto my words but more so that I can actually do something greater in my works and design out some of the problems we all face today.

I am still here!! I have NO intentions of stopping my work, I WILL NEVER leave anyone holding the ball nor will I lie or cheat. I am here to try and do good for all and hopefully sustain my family in the process.. All i wish to do is produce a high-quality product, be friendly and treat people with respect that they deserve. That is all, its really that simple.

Respectfully,

Majika

P.S   X123 tbh I don't like the idea of deleting posts in this modded forum, As I believe in everyone should have a equal say in matters in an open and fair system, however, for you I will make an exception against my personal urges not to delete a post made by you.  You have no clue about my abilities, past project involvements, past experience, previous jobs, nor about development skills, You are being very rude, you are not coming across as the type of person who I personally would like to have involved with this project, nor, do you come across as being very informed. You have attacked me for no reason which I am aware of, If you have something to say please feel free to PM me if you wish to continue your slurs at least then its only to my inbox where it doesn't affect others experience here.

Furthermore, Just like some of the other trolls which used to frequent the old AERO thread in the end we became good friends.. I do hope in time, someday we to can become friends with mutual respect for one another.

Majika, I am convinced you are a honest guy with a good heart and undoubtedly great coding capacities. Your post is filled with emotions and you are letting us look into your soul by revealing more details about your private life than anybody would have asked you to do. For me this shows how concerned you are with the project and in the meanwhile how difficult the past weeks have been for you. And despite what people say about Cryptos, there are real genuine project which only objective is to innovate and bring something useful to the society. AM is such a project, that is for sure, and you are not alone in it. We as a community have always supported you and will continue to do it.

That is great news! Thank you for the work! With AM on cryptsy we'll have more exposure!

Just keep being patient. We will be rewarded for our faith in this project.

@murderouskirk: If nobody has had a moment to fix the Auto-inviter for slack I will take a peek when i have a moment. Please ping to remind me to take a look, thanks

--Majika

Majika, that issue has been solved thanks to collaboration between Murderouskirk and allied Dev. Thanks for that to both of them.

Hey guys.

So slack emailed me and asked me to disable / fix the signup gateway we made. Apparently it was flooding invite reminders. Unfortunately, It's PHP code pulled from the internet, and modified by a friend. I'm not good with PHP, and idk that I can get it fixed myself. If anyone is willing to take a look, it's posted in the #_Development channel..

If anyone needs a manual invite contact me.

Is this problem solved?

We should all buy sticker "Support our dev" Smiley

Dont put too much pressure on you majika... Thats really not a good things. Do you need any help from us?

Indeed, there is an ignore button for the useless posters. It works very well. If we can help Majika, just ask and we'll see what we can do.

Not only that Grin

I am in doubt that this coin will ever appear. It is either the biggest scam or the biggest amateur. He needs another year, his project is so huge. In the end of the day, in our case an year, he will get at least 1000 BTC and no one will fire a case against him. That's the perfect scam Smiley I had to admit it. It's an ugly but effective move to steel people's money.

btw - anyone, remind me the last time the dev kept his promises?

Concerning the coin: it is already there since december 2014...

Actually we have been around a lot longer than 2014 as we come from AERO heritage Smiley

I know, I was part of Aero also and made the swap, but as he was talking about AM never going to be released, I just wanted to point out that AM is already around since december. And that is the proof that there is development. Otherwise it would still be Aero.

Hi guys,

Aerome is on the voting list at C-Cex.com. You can vote here: https://c-cex.com/?id=vote&vc=1
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: March 16, 2015, 03:18:14 PM
Why not. AM is on Bittrex, it should soon be on Cryptsy - even thought that is still not clear- so why not on C-Cex, even if it is a small exchange, it is always an extra place to trade. If one of the other sites goes down, at least there is something left, remember Mintpal.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: March 15, 2015, 10:00:28 PM
What about adding AM to C-Cex.com. I think we should suggest the coin to be put on the exchange. Especially with the AM platform being released soon, that could extend the visibility of the coin.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: March 12, 2015, 06:55:54 PM
There is little life on this forum. I guess everybody is just waiting for the big news about the release. I am curious to see what that will do with the price.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: March 10, 2015, 08:50:29 PM
Great job Aeroman and KL. The time and energy you are investing in the AM project is admirable! Thank you very much.

I suggest we send the complainers back to Cryptsy. We have been warning them for a long time and they only reacted a few days ago. Maybe they get some Cryptsy points to compensate for their loss. Anyway I don't think there are many Aerocoins on cryptsy anymore.

Hi Kwattro,

No problem happy to try help, even if i do slightly over complicate the matter, I will try to explain it a little simpler ;/
Method #1

Quote
Moreover, I still don't know how to use the backup file (.dat) of the wallet.

To back up your wallet.dat file is simple copy and paste it to another safe location like a thumb-drive. the wallet.dat file is located in the following location (if using windows)

Code:
C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\aerome\wallet.dat
Swap "<name>" with your windows sign in username

Method #2

To back up wallet.dat is to do it via the actual wallet-qt client. So open your AeroME Wallet and in the top where it says "File" click that then the first option down that menu is "Backup wallet".
Click that and it will offer to save your wallet.dat file (usually to My Documents by default).

it is not very easy for me to understand all these things. What is clear is that staking is safe and the wallet must be unlocked.

Correct, staking helps both you (6% PoS) and the network by offloading some broadcast checking etc. Its perfectly safe, just be sure to "unlock" your wallet to stake. unlock means basically allow the network to use your wallet and become like a peer of the AeroME Blockchain network (in staking terms).

Quote
How can I open it on another computer? Can I switch my wallet by just copying the backup .dat file and opening it in another .qt application?

Your wallet.dat is your file, thats what basically contains your coins. You can open on another machine if you need to. but if you encrypted it with a password then be sure that you keep that password safe. To re-open on another machine you will need that password to decrypt that wallet.dat for it to run on another machine.

The AeroME (wallet.dat) will only work with AeroME wallets for example you can't use your aerome wallet.dat inside the Bitcoin-qt wallet.. They are not compatible.

Aerome wallet.dat works with the AeroME blockchain/wallet...

Quote
I can't find a way to browse for the .dat file. I ask this, because I would like to stake my coins on two different machines by copying the .dat file from on to the other every time. Is this possible?

You will need to split your coins onto two separate wallets. So on machine #1 have your coins there.
Then open second machine, download the Aerome wallet again there.
Then, Sync that wallet on the second machine.
Generate a new address on the second machine wallet
Now, from the first machine sends your coins from machine #1 (Wallet A) over to machine #2 (Wallet B) then you can stake those bad-boys on two machines.
There is not "Rewards" advantage to staking on two machines btw. You will not gain extra PoS rewards. I just thought i would state that.  But from a security/redundancy perspective you have split the risk and not have all eggs in same basket which is smart move i guess. I maybe just missing the point though Smiley

Quote
copying the .dat file from on to the other every time. Is this possible?

you can have multiple wallets for AeroME as with any other coin. there is no limit to the number of actual wallets you run, You may have port/connectivity issues as a side-effect of running many of the same wallets on the same machine but apart from port-forwarding and some .conf file wizardry you can run any number of AM wallets.

But in answer to that question NO you will not have to keep making backups of wallet.dat and move to second machine. As the Machine 2 (Wallet B) will be independent.
Think of each wallet as independent just you have half coins in one wallet and the other half in the other wallet.

Let me know if i missed anything out,

Majika.

P.S. I will have a hunt around later to find a nicely compiled guide that maybe will explain security issues a little better than what I can.
And outline some common "Do's and "Dont's" about cryptos security in general. With some basic concepts which may help you a bit better understand.

Thank you for this clear explanation. I understand how it works. So it is basically impossible to keep staking the same wallet on two different machines. That was what I needed to know! Maybe this "Manual" could be referred to on the main page? It would certainly be helpful for other people with this kind of questions.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [AM] AeroME - Decentralized Marketplace Exchange on: February 19, 2015, 06:19:08 AM
Hi everybody. Just two simple questions because I am not very familiar with the wallets.

1) How does staking work exactly? The wallet has to be open and unlocked? Is that correct? Why unlocked, that makes it vulnerable, right? Rewards is 6%, that is on a yearly basis I guess?
2) How can I open my wallet on another computer using the backup .dat file. In which directory do I have to copy it?

Thank you!

First of all Staking is safe. just make sure you have a really long rcppassword=XGSJDimfkjhbe76kjbhg!!!
Encrypt you wallet (and wallet.dat) so only you have the password. Staking is safe.. just be sure to encrypt your wallet with a really strong password/phrase
and also in the aerome.conf file add a really long password in rcppassword=<really_Strong_pass>   (24chars + is good enough.)

Example of my config.
dont use the Server=1 option unless you want to act as a node or whatever Wink

Code:
Server=1
listen=1
rpcuser=aeromerpc
rpcpassword=AM345KQ8BbVcXpOolI3ErTaxcV
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
port=6221
rpcport=6222

** if you want to knock staking off for whatever reason you could use this :-

Code:
staking=0

Code:
-staking               Stake your coins to support network and gain reward (default: 1)

What the config switch settings mean.

Code:
-rpcuser=<user>        Username for JSON-RPC connections
-rpcpassword=<pw>      Password for JSON-RPC connections
-rpcport=<port>        Listen for JSON-RPC connections on <port> (default: 6222 or testnet: 16222)
-rpcallowip=<ip>       Allow JSON-RPC connections from specified IP address

[/quote]

Thank you once again Majika for your quick response. I must admit that - not being a IT technician - it is not very easy for me to understand all these things. What is clear is that staking is safe and the wallet must be unlocked.

On the other hand, I am still not getting where all this code has to be written. Is it in the wallet itself? Or on another medium?

Moreover, I still don't know how to use the backup file (.dat) of the wallet. How can I open it on another computer? Can I switch my wallet by just copying the backup .dat file and opening it in another .qt application? If this is the case, how do I open it, because when I download a new wallet it is empty of course and I can't find a way to browse for the .dat file. I ask this, because I would like to stake my coins on two different machines by copying the .dat file from on to the other every time. Is this possible?

Thank you to anyone who would/could help me.
