Show us the wallet and proof that it's theirs! You can have the whole internet trying to hack it open. I think $3 million is a decent bounty, don't you?

If they raided their homes and found a BTC address with 3mill I think that's enough correlation needed... ITS OKAY I'M AGAINST DEFAMING BITCOIN!

You're assuming that you can believe everything the media and government tell you.

Credit to Roger Ver for asking the question about Zhou Tong; I think it was fairly answered by Asher Tan, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable engaging with any company that has anything at all to do with Zhou Tong given the mounting evidence that indicates (not shows, but indicates) his direct involvement in the Bitcoinica disaster.

It's a beautiful thing, and as someone that's been invested in Bitcoin since 2011 it's great to see more widespread adoption of Bitcoin itself and the technology behind it being utilised in very innovative ways.

I am not sure how this will affect the use of bitcoin... Could you please elaborate more?
The government could potentially use this bill to directly/indirectly attack bitcoin related websites. but maybe they wont

Never give the government the benefit of the doubt; especially when it comes the U.S. government. Undecided

I bought a lot of Litecoin mining equipment and other electronics from Amazon using Bitcoin, paying through snapCard when they acted as a personal payment processor prior to them becoming a wallet provider.

I purchased a Lamassu 'Douro' Bitcoin ATM with Bitcoin for roughly $6,500 (which I subsequently had to get a refund for due to personal circumstances.)

Yesterday I bought my lunch in a café in Dublin, Ireland, which accetps Bitcoin (Busyfeet & Coco Cafe), and I purchase things on Amazon now using https://all4btc.com/.

Previously bought laptop docking stations in person from a guy, so real-world, individual purchases too.  Smiley

Is it much easier to mine LTC than BTC?

It is if you're talking about the cost of equipment; Litecoin can still be mined with GPU's (as they use a scrypt algorithm) which hold their value relatively well, whereas Bitcoin mining will pretty much require an investment in ASIC's which are useless for pretty much everything other than Bitcoin mining. Bitcoin's difficulty is also exponentially higher than Litecoin's.

If you're talking about return on investment, it was a toss-up back then but Litecoin's price dropped hugely after I started to mine. I ended up selling all of my equipment within 6 months of starting my mining operation because the price tanked from ~$19.00 to ~$5.00. The cost to mine was more than my return, and I didn't see any price rebound on the horizon. I stay away from mining now and concentrate on day-trading. Nowadays if you're interested in mining, one of the alt-coins at any given time would probably be most profitable, and if you join a mining pool you can set your miners to automatically mine the most profitable coin.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Chinese bitcoin player is selling his Tesla S85 for 300 BTC on: October 26, 2015, 01:41:01 PM
Tesla S are programmable and has internet connectivity, right? I saw a guy on youtube that programmed something on the car. In any case, that dude who bought it has a good taste for cars. Smiley

I'm not sure about the programmability and net connectivity, but I'm not really a fan of the Tesla S. I don't know why, I just don't really like the styling of it.. It's like a 4-door sedan masquerading as a sports car or something. Huh

Sounds about right, the car seems to be in perfectly good shape. I'd buy that one if I have the money. Are there any records of someone buying luxurious items with bitcoins such as a house or in this case, a car? I only see pizzas that costs 10,000 bitcoins.

There was the case of Blake Benthall, the guy behind Silk Road 2.0 purchasing a Tesla Model S with Bitcoin! And https://www.bitpremier.com/, though I'm unsure if people manage to sell much there. I presume they do as it's been around for quite a while!

19  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Raspberry Pi-Wallet cold storage device on: December 03, 2014, 01:07:20 PM
Hi all,

I have a brand new, unused Pi-Wallet up for sale. You can read more about what it is, how to use it, and how to adapt it for use with other cryptocurrencies at Pi-Wallet's website (http://www.pi-wallet.com). They currently cost €124.95 (+ shipping) new from Pi-Wallet but mine is just sitting there, cold and lonely, so I'd prefer somebody to get some use out of it.

Price: / €70.00 / £55.00 / $87.00 excluding shipping, payable in BTC.

Pictures available here:
http://imgur.com/a/ayQp3

Shipping worldwide for the cost of P&P, registered mail only. Escrow is essential.
Escrow fee to be split 50/50 between myself and the buyer, and I'd prefer to use John K.'s escrow service (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=141672.0).

Given the new account, for proof of my legitimacy I've sold over €2,100 worth of mining equipment on the litecointalk.org forums and my profile can be found here:
https://litecointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=19877 - I've referenced this thread in my advert over there for proof that I'm the same person.

Consists of:

- 1x Raspberry Pi  Model B with case
- 2x Samsung 8gb SDHC Card

Software Used:

- Raspbian (debian based Raspberry OS)
- Armory (Most feature-rich and secure bitcoin wallet)

Things that are required to run the Raspberry Pi but are not included:

- HDMI cable
- micro-USB cable (for powering the Raspberry Pi)
- mouse, keyboard, monitor

It is brand new / totally unused so the SD cards remain sealed with the Cryptocoins sticker, as does the actual Pi unit itself.

What is Pi Wallet?

Pi wallet is a device for securely storing your bitcoins in an offline environment to protect them.

We provide a service of installing a safe bitcoin wallet client (Armory) on a small, hand-sized computer (Raspberry Pi) so you can securely store your coins without having to deal with the issues of setting all this up by yourself.

A lot of bitcoiners face the problem of how to securely store their bitcoins. Naturally they get to a point where they think about storing them offline to prevent others on the Internet from getting access to the coins. This often leads to the idea of setting up an old notebook as an offline storage or maybe even buy one for that purpose. However, this can be expensive and a real hassle to set up.

This is where Pi Wallet comes in! Pi Wallet is like one of these notebooks - just better:

- unlike a lot of notebooks Pi Wallet doesn't have a wireless connection
- with Pi Wallet easily fitting into your hand you save a lot of space and you can even take it with you easily if necessary
- unlike a notebook the Pi Wallet device can be easily separated from its hard drive, the SDHC card.
- you can take your coins wherever you want by just moving the card around
- Pi Wallet comes with 2 SDHC cards so you can always have the backup card stored on a safe place
- since Pi Wallet comes with everything already pre-installed, you don't need to set up anything except your wallet, which is done with a simple click
- there are videos available on pi-wallet.com which explain in detail how to use Armory so you won't have to read up on it
- with Armory you can have a copy of your wallet allowing you to create receiving addresses and unsigned transactions and check your balance on an online computer running Armory without having to expose your private keys

Some people might think about using a paper wallet for backup purposes instead of an electronic device. However, paper wallets usually show private keys in plain text. Therefore, whoever gets your paper wallet will have access to your coins. With Pi Wallet using Armory, wallets can be encrypted with a password securing your coins even if your SDHC card gets stolen - and since Pi Wallet comes with a backup card you can just put it in, enter your password and send your coins away. Additionally, this allows you to easily leave a backup card with someone else. It will be secured by your password and when you get it back you can easily access your coins.
Additionally you can always create as many paper backups or USB backups as you want.

At the very least, if you're not interested in using it as secure cold-storage you get a cool Raspberry Pi and 2 x 8GB SDHC cards! Smiley
