Sorry for the lack of updates. The site is currently back up and running, but in maintenance mode (so only admins can access the site). We're just double-checking all is well with the backup, then we'll be back. We should be back within the next few hours.
Edit: So far, everything looks good, and everything is working as expected. We'll likely be back within the next hour or so.
If you sent a deposit during the period where the site was acting up, or during our downtime, there is a chance your deposit didn't get processed. If this is the case please PM me on Bitvest the TxID and which coin it was and I will process it ASAP.
As for withdrawals, from what I can tell, there were no issues with them, aside from the TxID not being logged for some transactions. Please PM me on Bitvest if you have had any issues with a recent withdrawal
As for the latest contest. We'll address that issue within the next few days. Everyone will be paid out fairly and with a bit extra to compensate for the inability to bet and reach higher ranks during the downtime.
For quests, we're considering any quest set completion worth 20 days in terms of chain bonuses. This means, if you complete a quest set within the next 48 hours, you'll be restored back to the maximum chain bonus.

The array for our server which contains the OS, general configuration, and the webserver itself appears to have catastrophically failed. Both disks failed before the rebuilding of the RAID array could be completed. We will be offline for an extended period to restore our site from backups. The expected downtime is over 24 hours.
We do not expect any data to be lost, as our database disks (and the backups) are still working fine.

We take account security seriously, so it can sometimes take a while to gather and verify information about an account to make sure resetting of PINs, passwords, etc. are only allowed for the rightful owner of the account. This case, in particular, has been resolved at this time.
Sometimes parts of this are done in the background, without immediately replying to the ticket to see if there has possibly been an account compromise, suspicious activity on the account, etc. We'd rather know what we may be dealing with before replying to the ticket just in case.

On June 17, 2020, an exploit was made against how we handle ETH contract deposits. This allowed a user to trick our systems into thinking valid funds were deposited, when in fact, they were transactions that would later become invalid. Multiple deposits were made, and bets were placed with these funds. We have since patched the exploit, so this will not occur again. The exploit involved many transactions, the majority of the coins were "deposited" with this transaction. In total, investors received 12.35 ETH in profits, less 0.85 ETH in commissions. A net profit of 11.50 ETH from the fraudulent deposits. We have rolled back the bets placed with the fraudulent funds and adjusted investor balances accordingly. Bitvest itself made a small loss from funds that were withdrawn from our wallets. We will be covering this part of the loss out of our pockets. No user or investor funds are at risk or were ever at risk due to this exploit. It was caught quickly, and the losses mitigated before any losses exceeding the size of our hot wallets occurred. |

We are sorry for the lack of attention some manual withdrawals have received lately.
Lightlord and I are currently discussing some changes we will be making to better maintain our standards. For a start, I have updated our admin alert/notification system to send us high priority alerts for any >20 hour old pending transactions. It will notify us periodically for each transaction once it is past due for processing.

 I have my lucky seed and I am unable to use it after I change my server seed? Why is that? Seems like a bug, fix this please, does not seem fair. If I have a good client seed, you can't just choose to make me change it!!! This restriction is in place to prevent a situation where we (the house) could gain an advantage. We could intentionally generate future server seeds for your account that bias results against a previously chosen seed. We could, for example, generate a seed where the first few bets placed with your old or favorite client seed and betting style tend to have a higher chance of resulting in a losing bet. Disallowing reuse of a seed prevents this exploit from being possible. The message indicating the restriction will be removed is out of date and will be updated shortly. Why is it that the client seed is randomly changed at times? The client seed should be stateful and should never be updated or changed without the user acknowledging such an action. Even if this is a harmless bug on the casinos end, to the player this raises doubts and suspicion. The whole point of using a client/server seed pair is so that there is a user defined variable in generating the results. When this is switched or updated without the players consent or knowledge, this becomes quite unnerving despite the intentions or lack of. Please either make the client seed stateful or at the very least warn the user as a notification PRIOR to them playing the next round of a game so that they know their client seed has been switched and needs to be replaced with the old one if they want to continue with the existing seed pair. I don't understand why you guys set it up in the current manner, it doesn't take that much more programming to have the client seed saved unless the user inputs a new one...Many users aren't even aware that their client seed was changed and once you place a bet its too late to go back to the old seed pair. It's even more unnerving to me that there doesn't seem to be a specific action that causes my client seed to be replaced. There are times when I will close my browsers for hours and it will still remain, then other times where I can do a mere refresh of the page and it will be changed. Please fix this asap - It is very difficult for me to deposit real funds into a site that doesn't take this seriously, given that the seed pair is what actually generates the results... Yes, I know Bitvest has been around for years but that by no means excuses any online crypto casino from following standard operating procedures of a provably fair system. This is definitely unintended behavior. The last used user seed should be automatically loaded upon logging in (it can take up to 1-2 seconds), and should never change unless the user types in a new seed or presses the randomize button. If anyone can provide me with specific steps to recreate an unintended seed change, I will gladly fix it and pay out a bug bounty. Please make sure to include your browser version and OS. |

We regret that we haven't been able to fully uphold our philosophy and plan on making changes to ensure this doesn't happen again. We want everyone to have a great experience.
I have been preoccupied with developing many features for Bitvest that I have not been able to give the attention as needed. Therefore, we will be expanding our support team later this month and build better tools to manage tickets for a better overall experience.
Our wallet limits were reduced a fair bit due to a recent exploit with Keno, which we covered ourselves for 5 bitcoins in value. We are currently laying down changes, such as a better "cheat detection" system in the backend. This will allow us to restore our higher wallet limits to better service our customers.

I'm using the Investment feature and so far I am pleased with returns. But I have one question. How does "Margin" work? I know it multiplies your investment so you win/lose more then you should proportionally to other investments. But how does this work economically? How can you pay me for example 10 times more? Where do you take that money from? You can only split the profit from gambling, right?
For simplicity, let's say the bankroll consists of 100 BTC, 550 BTC after margin from 2 investors. One investor has 50 BTC at 1x margin, the other at 10x margin. Bets would be taken as if the bankroll was 50x1 + 50x10 = 550 BTC. The effective bankroll of 550 BTC is not an issue, since the max that can be won in any situation is around 1-5% of the margin bankroll depending on the game, meaning even if every investor was at the maximum margin, the largest win possible would not be larger than the bankroll, limited to about 10-25% of the real coins backing the bankroll. If a player won 10 BTC, the investor at 1x margin would pay 50/550 * 10 BTC = 0.909 BTC to the player. The investor at 10x margin would pay 500/550 * 10 BTC = 9.09 BTC. If a player lost 10 BTC, the investor at 1x margin would earn 50/550 * 10 BTC = 0.909 BTC from the player. The investor at 10x margin would earn 500/550 * 10 BTC = 9.09 BTC. |

Can someone help me? I can't seem to log in to Bitvest anymore. I type in my username and password, click Sign In, and nothing happens. It just sits there like I didn't click the button.
Anyone else have this issue? What can I do? I can't contact Support on-site, because it says you need to be signed in to do that.

Proofs 2.0
Coming Soon: Next week, Bitvest will be updating its proof system to a more modern, and easier to verify nonce based proof system. In short, you will be able to much more easily validate historical bets you (or others) have made. Technical details of our new proof system are below. We will be providing verification tools and a simpler explanation in the near future in an upcoming blog post. How it works: - We will send you a hash of the server seed we'll use for the next set of bets you make.
- You (or your browser) will choose a random seed (the "user seed") to use for your bets. Every time you use this seed, the nonce for the seed will be incremented. For example: If you chose the seed "Lucky" your first bet would effectively use the seed "Lucky|0", the next bet "Lucky|1" and so on.
- At any time you wish, you may change your user seed to a different user seed you have never used before, the nonce will go back to 0, again, incrementing with each bet.
- When you wish to verify your bets, you may request to see the server seed which was used for your bets, doing so will make all future bets use a new server seed. At this point, you can verify that the hash of this server seed does indeed match the hash provided earlier. You will also be able to verify that the game's result hash matches what you'd expect with the use of your user seed and the server seed provided. At this time, you will be given the hash of the next server seed and you will also be required to change your user seed, as we cannot prove that the new server seed was generated without knowledge of / to take advantage of your current user seed.
- The resulting hash of each bet will be equal to HMAC_SHA512(ServerSeed,UserSeed|Nonce)
3rd party betting software: Betting tools such as Dicebot are excepted to remain compatible and still be able to place bets. Their verification functions, will, however, require an update to function. |

2. Where is doge roulette?
1. They were unable to find the logo on our page and thought we weren't interested in the partnership and removed our logo. To address this, we've made their logo more pronounced by including it on the login screen. We are expecting to be listed on their site again in the near future. 2. Doge roulette will be coming with, or shortly after Keno. There are many issues with the current UI of Roulette that make handling bets of low-value currencies not work. |

Hi Zodiac, I left you a private message on bitvest but I realize you get tons of messages so perhaps this is the best route.
Recently while signed in on my laptop I also signed in on my mobile device. Then I proceeded to change my password from my mobile device. Out of curiosity I decided to try playing what funds I had left on the signed in laptop- I thought it would prompt me to sign in again since I had changed the password just minutes ago on a separate device. It did not ask for me to sign in again.
I continued playing and even sent a tip out, from the laptop even though my mobile had successfully changed the password. In certain circumstances this could have been a devastating blow. For example if my account was hacked , and the hacker was spending my btc... normally changing a password would kick off the would-be hacker but for some reason, in this circumstance the account was still able to continue spending.
This seems like a security flaw and hopefully it can be addressed.
Otherwise, I still love to play at bitvest.

I have made password changes kick out all active sessions in all cases now. I have also made it auto-set tipping to disabled for additional security. |

I will be looking into this shortly. For now, avoid leaving the autobet tab within bitvest, or switching tabs in your browser. I don't think game speed being changed is its self is the issue. |
