41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% to Orphan-Charity | POBH CPU | Sanctuaries (Masternodes) on: December 25, 2019, 09:35:10 PM
Still not connecting to any peers. And yes the date and time are correct. Can't waste any more time today trying to get the latest client to work. May have another go tomorrow. It is just frustrating to have to fight this every time we have a big upgrade.

I would say:

* quit biblepay wallet
* erase everything in your biblepay folder except for wallet.dat and biblepay.conf (that includes all the folders including blockchain, san, llmq, etc)
* restart biblepay wallet and sync from height 0

This is actually what I have been trying to do. It won't connect to ANY peers to even start sync'ing from height 0....

Thanks Togo. Giving that a try now.
Looking at our 4 dns servers, I see the problem, apparently when we switched to dynamic ports, we no longer listen on 40,000 by default in these core nodes.

I just updated all 4 to use the 40,000 default ports.  Please try now.

Also please ensure your system time is correct.

Nothing changed over night. Just restarted the client but nothing yet. I will check back when the family is done with opening gifts.

Any chance of getting a couple more peer IP's? After the client went down a week ago and upgrading the client this weekend, I'm back to not being able to connect to peers. Already attempted deleting all files but the wallet.day, peers, and config files. I'm not able to re-download from scratch as no peers will connect.

November BiblePay update:

- Today, I had a conf. call with MIP and we were discussing some ideas for 2020.  For example, ideas that utilize the hashing power of POBH 2.0 for a useful activity such as video encoding.

Any possibility of this concept being also tied to PODC 2.0 by utilizing BURP? http://burp.renderfarming.net/

So, I couldn't get the wallet to fully sync, so I used Rob's command addnode 198.46.160.252 onetry and that certainly got me attached to peers and finalized sync'ing. Thanks for that Rob. However, my new problem is that each backup wallet.dat I attempt to use all show 0 BBP and no transactions in my list. I've already tried rescanning for lost transactions and such in the wallet. Any thoughts on where to begin to get that fixed again? Sorry for late replies. I've been on the road all day today driving all over the state I live in for work.

Edit: I have used wallet.dat backups all the way back in August before I had troubles even.

Edit2: I may have fixed it. Found another set of backups and the file sizes were much larger. I'm syncing one of them now and it looks promising.

I think this is most likely the case. I just got home from work and it appears to have finally connected and downloaded. Took about 2 or 3 days probably. Now I'm trying to get my wallet.dat, peers and config file to work with it. Looks to be taking things.

I don't have the option of making my phone a hotspot because Straight Talk blocks it. I may be able to tether it with a bit of work but in the past that was hit and miss.

I will report back when things finalize.

Make sure you on the right chain:

At the moment, I'm still trying to get sync'd. I let it run all last night and it never got past being 3 hours behind. I'm re-sync'ing again to see if I can push through it.

Hello MIP. I'm reaching out this way as this seems to be a re-occurring issue. My BBP client was happy until this last mandatory upgrade. After upgrading, it will not connect to any peers. I have gone as far as completely removing BBP off of my system and deleting the residual files/folders and then re-installing as if I were a new user. Even without my wallet.dat and config file, it will not connect to any peers. I have attempted disabling Windows Defender firewall (Win10) and have also added the two IP addresses in my config file for the nodes you mentioned the last time I had connection issues. Any ideas what to try next? Thank you for you time and consideration on this matter.

Have you ensured the system time and timezone is correct within 10 seconds also?

After doing that - *If* its still not working, try this from the rpc type: addnode 95.216.127.254 onetry

Please post the log if it still does not work.

EDIT: Please confirm the BBP Version is 1.4.4.8+ in the about page?  Pre 1448 will get rejected by the network.

This was on 1.4.4.9 and time was sync'd. Actually attempted a few times to be sure.

I believe your IP was banned temporarily (for being on an old version).  Hopefully, you saved your peers.dat and that will go through all your peers and it'll eventually find one that didn't ban you. Alternative is to get yourself a new IP temporarily: tether to your smartphone, use OpenVPN and find a free open server online, etc.

Good to know. I know the BURST QBundle Wallet is something low like 30 seconds and can be a real pain on over committed systems. However, I hadn't seen it on this wallet yet. I think the systems tend to check in with the auto settings before hitting the 5 minute mark correcting themselves. Glad to see it more forgiving than others.

Some miners tell you if the system clock is drifting out of sync. Does the BBP client do this?

Still censoring posts in the main thread. Seriously, this offends you Rob?

"Got on the wrong chain again. Today it showed me tripling the total amount in my wallet. Stripping everything yet again. Let's see what happens this time."

Yes I deleted that as well.

Please stop the client, delete again peers.dat, then add these nodes in biblepay.conf

addnode=8.6.193.83
addnode=209.250.243.91

and re-run.

MIP, thanks for the info. I was gone all day so couldn't try. However, my 4th attempt at uninstalling, deleting all files and folders, re-installing, copying wallet.dat and bbp config files finally worked. Or at least appears to be connected and sync'd for the time being. I will try adding those the next time I run into an issue.

Is there a peer IP I can attach to in order to guarantee the right chain? I've deleted the files from the Evo folder multiple times now and it always seems to get stuck somewhere.

Anyone else having troubles connecting to peers? My one client now appears to be 21 hours behind and just sits at connecting. Already restarted the VM a few times and even tried re-installing v1.4.4.5 (64 bit) on Windows 10.

I feel people don't invest in this coin because it is too complicated for unnecessary reasons. I think Rob's constant tinkering with what he calls "features" or "innovation" brings way too much headache to everyone else whom is more interested in a stable coin/wallet. His constant boasts of his ideas not having bugs and then later comes out there were bugs doesn't help either. Nobody is a perfect coder. It is one thing to say that nobody has reported a bug. It is another to claim that there "are no bugs". If he is all about sticking to the facts and "not misleading investors" then he needs to do just that. Rob was very clear what was in his heart when he immediately threatened to label me a Satanist because I disagreed with his reasoning on BOINC on Apple devices and Apple's stance on not allowing apps that pull executables from 3rd parties to run within the app. Apparently he knows more than several others Dev's that have been trying to get DC projects in the app store for almost a decade. I'm still waiting on them to accomplish their goal of an Apple miner app. If grandma cannot figure out Walmart Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, etc.... then he is delusional to think his app is anywhere remotely close to the common person or a 5 year old to use.

People continue to call this a charity coin rather than support Rob's idea. The core mission is to bring more to God. However, I don't see how all his gimmicks are really converting people to God. Charity work can do that but I don't see donating money converting people to God. I believe it comes from our labors.

Seeing how crummy this Dev treats those that have truly tried to help out and embrace this coin speaks volumes as to why many won't want to put money here. If you want people to come here, make another Dev the face of the coin.

As far as the argument on control. Sunk has a legitimate argument. One doesn't need 51% to have controlling majority. 51% is controlling ownership. When all it takes is 1 person to sway the decision one way but takes 25+ to sway it back, then that is definitely seen as having control. Especially when you rarely have 51% of the voters (not nodes) actually participating in voting. Those votes may "matter" from a philosophical stand point, but from reality they don't unless they are cast. One person casting a lot of votes is much more influencing than a few casting minimal votes.

I do not, but would be interested in one as well. I have roughly 25 phones crunching BOINC 24/7 in my home because I keep picking up "free" phones from Straight talk when I order my service plan cards each month. It is sad when it is cheaper to get a whole new phone then to replace a bloated battery....

If you come across any other Android friendly coins, please keep me in mind. Smiley
