1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL Is Craig Wright Satoshi Nakamoto? on: December 09, 2015, 08:33:16 PM
Satoshi did a lot of off-forum communication, some of which a lot of us still have in archive. I did contact the author of this article and gave them some clues to check for to see if it is really him. So far, no response, but no surprise after all these years, people have published many stories about finding the real Satoshi. I contact them, offer up some useful info not available on the Internet and usually the investigation falls through as the supposed Satoshi can't answer any questions from the past about interactions with other members here. The real Satoshi could contact any of us directly with a "I'm alive" message if he wanted to, that would clear up confusion quickly.

I don't think Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto. The evidence was badly faked, and if you communicated off forum with him he could have contacted you to prove it.

I'm intriged, did you personally communicate with him through the two email accounts he's known to have used?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best alternative to blockchain.info? on: August 05, 2015, 07:10:53 PM
why do you search for an alternative? i believe blockchain is the best explorer, i dont believe that others dont have any issues, blockchain is the biggest explorer thats why we spot more issues with it

Yesterday blockchain.info showed Satoshi's coins were being moved when all the other block explorers showed they hadn't moved. Somebody must have found a way to tamper with blockchain.info to make it show fake transactions. He might want a few alternatives in case situations like that happen again.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum IPO reboot coming, time to get nervous about the future of crypto on: August 05, 2015, 06:56:01 PM
The released some source code. It's pretty exciting.

However they're out of money now... so I have no idea what the next step is. I'm more interested in seeing the new ethereum clones coming out. I think it'll be the new altcoin thing. No more bitcoin clones, only ethereum clones.

They released a command line based wallet that lacks a large amount of the promised functionality. If they can't make any more money fast then development stops. They call the advanced wallet they have promised serenity. It's not clear yet if they can afford to keep developing until it's completed.

Hey vbuterin. Just curious, do you think there is enough funding to get to serenity? That's my only concern. If there is, I really wouldn't care how much you get paid.

Depends entirely on the ether price. At the optimistic 1 ETH = $1.5 value that others have been throwing around, there is more than enough; at 1 ETH = $0.1, no.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best alternative to blockchain.info? on: August 05, 2015, 06:09:12 PM
I like this one, but which is the best depends on what you want it for.

https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC

If it's only for normal things like checking address balances then it only really depends personal taste. Most block explorers offer that functionality. If you are a programmer who wants to use a block explorers API then it depends on what the API offers and how often you can access it in rapid succession.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK plans to become the global bitcoin hub on: August 05, 2015, 06:00:31 PM
The banks in the UK often close people's accounts for being involved in Bitcoin. If the UK plans to become the global bitcoin hub its banks will have to change their attitude to bitcoiners. Most countries banks are hostile to Bitcoin, some are more hostile than the UK banks, but almost none of them seem friendly.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 05, 2015, 05:52:41 PM
Im so excited about the halving, whether you think its going to go up or down no one can argue that the uncertainty is gonna bring some volatility so us traders can finally make some good money again.

In the nearer term, we have the upcoming possibility of the Chinese  having to free float the rmb.  They've been artificially keeping it down by pegging to the usd, but if they want to be part of the sdr basket, they will have to unpeg. If it becomes a de facto reserve currency, a lot of Chinese hodlers could have a good reason to switch out of bitcoin.

I'm not sure of the timeframe, but I believe they have to decide ahead of the next IMF meeting in October.  It will be interesting to see how (or if) it effects bitcoin.

Switzerland's franc jumped by about 30 percent against the euro when the cap of 1.20 francs per euro was stopped. Switzerland is nothing when compared to China's economic muscle. If China gives up it's peg to the USD then there could be a much bigger jump in the RMB than Switzerland's franc had. That would make waves that would reach the Bitcoin price.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Missed MtGox Claim because forgot password on: August 05, 2015, 05:42:24 PM
Kraken had pretty good support. Told me to send in a claim by mail so I did. Hopefully that'll go through but if it doesn't then o well. I had long written off the MtGox loss in my mind, hence the reason I forgot the password (The days before I started using lastpass).

You missed the first deadline for filing a claim online, then they extended it to July 28, so you missed the second deadline by about a week. I don't know if the deadline for mailed claims is different. If you get lucky they might extend the deadline for a third time, or they might allow your claim due to mitigating circumstances.

http://blog.kraken.com/post/124002049592/mtgox-update-you-can-still-file-your-creditor

The MtGox trustee has announced that the deadline for filing creditor claims online has been extended to 8:00pm, July 28, 2015 PDT
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum, the next era of bitcoin technology on: August 05, 2015, 05:04:52 PM
i've been hearing about ethereum for a very long time and i am wondering when will it be launched and used?
i haven't seen it listed on an exchange before

There's a list of exchanges on reddit that will probably have Ethereum markets after the thaw. Some of those on the list already have markets with only bids, others only promise to have markets after the thaw. Nobody knows exactly when trading will start because the Ethereum devs invented a complicated way of doing it that depends on how fast miners update their software.

This is a joke.  No update from devs.  No info on thaw.  Can't do anything with mined coins.  Still can't sell on a exchange.  Pathetic.

The devs said the thaw depends on how many miners update to the latest code. Each time an updated miner mines a block it speeds up the time to the thaw, but each time a miner who hasn't updated mines a block it slows down the time to the thaw. I expected trading to start this Monday at the latest, and it seems like a stupid system to leave the start of trading to an unspecific time in the future.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Surfing waves on: August 05, 2015, 03:37:13 PM
In 2014 when there still was alt market, that was possible. now it's just manipulation  Smiley

In early 2014 it was easier to pick a winner because there were only about 30 altcoins. Now there are thousands it's very difficult to pick a winner. People seem disillusioned with the alt markets, probably because of the blatant manipulation. It's mostly the manipulators making money today, not the speculators.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DimeCoin wallet 'No block source available' on: August 05, 2015, 03:28:19 PM
There's still a pool paying people out. You can read about it in the latest announcement thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446388.1460

They paid out this week to some dime coin miners so it must be still possible to sync. Try contacting the pool and asking them for some nodes. There must be a few nodes left as there are still a few miners left.

I had my moon on swisscex and can't seem to get them back now they are closed. Has anyone got their moon coins back off swisscex since the website went offline?

Swisscex sent email with private key ...

How import private key?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=389403.9400

Download and sync the mooncoin wallet, click help, then open the debug console and type importprivkey followed by your private key that was emailed to you. Press enter and wait for the wallet to import the key. Afterwards send your coins to a new address because the old one isn't secure as someone else knows your private key.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HANSA] ★NEW★ First Auto-Verification Payment coin ★ON EXCHANGE★BOUNTIES on: February 26, 2015, 11:22:05 AM
@Hansacoin  If everyone is making a big stink about the PoJ coins...why don't you hire an escrow service to hold and dole out the coins as needed. This will aliviate investors/exchanges fears of a giant dump and disappear act on your part...I'm not saying I think you will, just saying it has to be in the back of everyones mind. Maybe try Placebo, he's done some escrows for some recent ICO's.
I can take escrow holding coins and sharing bounties when job is done, if HANSA community want that.
Need to look what it will cost and can we pay with coins.

What other one think about that?
Should we vote or is it enaf if we yell in here.
escrow is good idea it will increase faith in you
Okay, now:
+2 escrow
  0 no need

cast your vote to Smiley
HANSA Poll (Top on the page):
Question:    Should HANSA use third party escrow to holding PoJ coins?
Give your vote.

Which escrow you use is as important as using it. There are escrow with years of providing the service without problems, and other new escrow providers who don't have much of a reputation to lose if they do anything wrong.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: February 14, 2015, 11:08:00 AM
Millionaire? I dunno, but you will have much money I believe.
I think that we shouldnt peg bitcoin price to dollars though.

at some stage i believe  we will be able to buy property or land etc  directly for BTC from any real estate agent

people will still compare it to dollars though ,no matter how high or low it goes IMO

When we start thinking of one satoshi = one dollar we will all be rich.
