I wanted to thank Andy for his generosity on Polo tonight.  It sure upped the fun level of the Trollbox and it introduced quite a few new people to the coin.

Andy, you were a DIEM madman tonight!  Thanks again and best of luck to all who seized the opportunity to get involved.

What I think is that we should take SMC to mintpal.
Please vote for SMC here: Ctr+F and searh for SMC.
Also if you can please donate some BTC to jump up the queue.

https://www.mintpal.com/voting

Best.

I think Mintpal would be a decent option as well.  It's one of the 2nd tier exchanges, has a good interface, and can generate some volume. Voting...

Of course, the nospendzeroconfchange patch.

Mysterious. Still better than no updates at all, but worse than milion other possible updates.

On the other news, that's how other exchange addresses and handles a serious issue:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499580.msg5499870#msg5499870

Something to compare.

That is an excellent example of communicating.  It appears that coinmarket have no intention what so ever of doing something like this.

I couls live with a nominal percentage reduction if indeed it is the error.

Perhaps the thief that posted about withdrawing double BTC in this thread would be kind enough to give it back to coinmarket if something like this can be done here too?

Its starting to smell a lot like coinmarket has been hacked too, but rather than try and fix this open and honestly, they post about bullsh*t patches and trading opening times etc etc....

That other exchange now has people trying to find the thief and taking it out on them, while still having respect for the exchange because they came clean.

Coinmarket just has people angry with them because they are saying nothing at all.

+1 to Snotty and C3ALL

That's the way you deal with a problem - head on and openly.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ GreenCoin ★ Pure Proof of Stake║Fair Distribution║IPO Available║Launch: 03/17 on: March 04, 2014, 04:30:08 AM
Double edit: Distribution in confusing.
50% to IPO investors, 50% to miners. Mining period will last between 2-4 weeks, and the mining reward you can expect to receive will be steady, no matter how many people are mining. This is in contrast to other coins where the average reward decreases as more people are mining the coin.

Right, so how many of the 1 billion are distributed during the 3 week period, and then the POS period? The way I read it was that the 1 bln is mined in three weeks, then during POS period we  Huh Huh Huh in a p2p fashion.
All of the 1 billion comes from the 2-4 week mining period. After that, PoS is used to run the network. There is a 2% yearly stake reward to support PoS mining.

2% annual interest?  PhilosopherStone has more than that in monthly interest with 50% interest per year.  And the total number of PHS will only be in the single digit millions.  Why did you set the stake interest so low?

I have the responsibility and burden of running a company with more than a few employees and a significant number of clients. This behavior would be unacceptable to all of our clients. CoinMarket has proven to be incompetent and unable to deliver on their own timeframes several times now.

and every single person here in computers knows your business has shit to do with tech.

Quote
Whether it was incompetence, premature delivery (don't talk to me about beta like a retarded child)

well then stop acting like one and learn what the fuck the term means. THE STORE ISNT OPEN.. OFFICIAL. it is a fucking beech with No fucking life guard and a fucking undertow.. if you drown, its your own damn fualt.. dont complain after you are dead that you didnt understand what the sign meant "swim at your own risk, no life guard on duty"

I GET SO SICK OF YOU PEOPLE WHO ACT SO RETARDED ARROUND THE TERM BETA.. this shit is going to happen. if PEOPLE LIKE YOU SEE BETA... RUN.. DONT WALK.. RUN.. RUN AS FAST AS YOUR LITTLE RETARDED SHOES CAN TAKE YOU.

Quote
They've failed.. regaining consumer/client confidence would be a struggle at this point.

spoken as a person who doesnt understand money. Money has no friends or enemies.  People go were profits are. Just like no one moved when bush won.. or Obama won, because well america is fucking nice. When the site comes back up.. people will return because for some coins coinmarket is the best place to trade.  and if there is an opportunity to make money, even your retarded ass will be back. If not your more retarded than I thought.

Quote
They have failed to keep the community informed on their progress and should have lost the trust of everyone who has been willing to wait this long with over a week of continuous instability.

I have seen more than several communications. I will say they havent communicated ENOUGH.. but your kinda stupid for suggesting they havent kept us informed during this.

the built a new engine.. they were testing it.. someone found a critical bug.. WHICH HAPPENS UNEXPECTANTLY IN TECH.. WHICH IS WHY ALMOST ALL TECH MISSES THE RELEASE DATE.. WHICH IS WHY ALMOST ALL TECH MISSES THE RELEASE DATE. and decided to try to fix it. they said they would be open at 10am gmt this morn.. and so far that hasnt happened and they havent said anything .. but i couldnt know all the rest of this without the posts and tweets. So you are just being hyperbolic and upset.. and yeah its money i get that. BUT YOU ARE STILL RETARDED.. and STILL HAVE NO CONCEPT OF THE TERM BETA. sorry that fact upsets you. You can complain all day long to not talk to you like a retarded kid about beta but it doesnt change the fact that you are acting like a retarded kid when it comes to the term beta.

I think you miss the point.  I don't believe anybody here is taking issue with the fact that "problems happen", especially in beta, or that coinmarket is likely working very hard to fix them.  The issue is with their poor communication.  I don't know what company you work for but I've been in I.T. for nearly 20 years and I can tell you that any project run this way without regular reports to stake holders simply wouldn't be tolerated.  You don't leave people hanging for days on end, missing target date after target date and failing to fulfill the promises they've made to the people with frozen transactions, without some sort of explanation.  Not an in depth technical dissertation, just a statement of where the project stands and what progress has been made.  It really isn't hard.  A couple of sentences once or twice per day would do wonders.

TL;DR  Nobody is asking coinmarket to move mountains - just post short, regular status updates.

A)  Math is hard.  1,362,685 doge would be 2.42557930 btc at the current rate of 0.00000178
B)  How the hell do you think people buy and sell coins?  20 or 30 at a time?  You think they keep all the coins in their wallet, wait for their target price to hit, then....start a transfer to their exchange wallet?  LOL, by the time the coins are confirmed, the price has moved.
C)  Maybe that's a lot of coins to you and me, but it might only be a fraction of his holdings.
D)  Go away.

D). Shut up
A). B). C). I admit my mistake, wrong math.
+ All of you that are defending coinamarket.io-> it is in beta, they are telling us that we are trading at our own risks. That's bullshit!!!
Coinex.pw is still in beta.
Coinmarket.io is almost 2 months old. more than 1-2 days offline for a platorm is very bad. 1 Week offline?

I don't know why you were still trading at this platform aftery they had so many problems. This is what you deserves.

Heheh.  It would be:
E)  Shut up

But anyway, I'm not defending them.  As I noted a few pages back, I withdrew all of my coins (except the fractonal one I was forced to leave due to the bug in their fee calculation, lol) and don't imagine I'll be returning if they ever get back online.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarket.io | New, self-moderated support and news thread. on: March 03, 2014, 02:21:10 PM
On 19 February 2014 at 17:32, I tried to make a withdrawal of 1362685 DOGE.

I received the confirmation email and clicked on the confirmation link. My withdrawal was then confirmed, but was not allocated a transaction ID. The coins were not sent, and the DOGE wallet was removed from coinmarket.io shortly afterwards.

On 24 February 2014 at 01:50, coinmarket.io posted on this thread:
Doge wallet should be back by the end of tomorrow.
Seven days later, it is not back, and I have heard nothing further from coinmarket.io.

On 27 February 2014 at 04:41, @CoinMarketio tweeted that "Withdrawals that failed without an txid being provided (some 20 of them) will be processed manually - in the next 8 hours, probably faster": https://twitter.com/CoinMarketio/status/439017538996146176
104 hours later, my withdrawal has not been processed, manually or otherwise, and I have heard nothing further from coinmarket.io.

I can see from dogechain that the coins are still at the coinmarket address to which I deposited them:
http://dogechain.info/address/DMugxPsYi6d1Rh5EURMojraP2GHsTTbjR3
...and not in my own wallet, where they should be:
http://dogechain.info/address/DK6X3t77BhxQojv3v5cvvHMgd2PXyeYUh3

This has already cost me a considerable amount in trading opportunity. Coinmarket, provide an update please.
WTF... 1,3 mil doge ?? that's almost 1 mil $ Smiley))
I just hope that your lying , nobody should be that STUPID, having so many coins on one major exchange, but on coinmarket.io Smiley)) Oh man
That's why they closed coinmarket.io, geeez Smiley))))

Some sad news coming in today, in the midst of all the things happening in the cryptocurrency world.

ag_ has stepped down from his position.

Here is his message:

Quote
After much thought, I have decided to step down as Director of Marketing and PR for SmartCoin. I am very happy with the work I've done with SmartCoin to get added to almost every major exchange, and I still believe in SmartCoin's potential. However, I no longer have the time necessary to devote to developing SmartCoin's potential. I am still and will remain a SmartCoin advocate, but the time has come for me to step down in my current position.

So at this time, I'm actively looking for a replacement that can match and exceed ag_'s dedication. You will be appropriately compensated for your time.

Please know that this isn't the end and won't be for a long time. I've been trying my best to sustain the price as much as I can (5 BTCs worth). The price right now means nothing about the potential of SMC. I am convinced in our position to offer an amazing experience for anyone entering the cryptocurency world. But people like metstijl aren't helping, and are being extremely incompetent to see that. His ego exceeds him.

In the light of that, we have some good news. From what we've heard from Prypto, we're going to have our first merchant payment service! I've also got someone interested in accepting SmartCoins for their business.

I'm looking forward to hear your input and suggestions on how we can take SMC to where we've never gone before.

A lot of people have been asking about the address containing the premine, and to those I say: Here it is. As you can see, I have moved all of the coins into one address so that you may keep track of the coins.

  • Good for him for recognizing that he can't provide the time required for the job.  My thanks to him for helping us get this far.  I'm confident you'll find a quality replacement to take us even further.
  • Nice job on working on finding a payment service and merchant.
  • Good for you for posting the wallet.  That kind of transparency is always a good thing!

As for metsijl, I've come to the conclusion that there really is something seriously wrong with him.  I mean, you don't know which metsijl you're going to get from hour to hour or even minute to minute.  He screams and rages when the price is down, things aren't going his way, or who knows why else.  Then he does a 180 and sings the praises of SmartCoin and berates anyone who dares question it and claims to be buying, buying, buying.  Then he spins again and makes posts threatening to dump his coins or sell them off the exchanges.  The incongruity and irony of his actions - telling someone else on the board to STFU for expressing the same opinions that he himself posted just a day or three earlier, or claiming the coin is dead soon after claiming he just bought more - completely eludes him.  He's worse than useless since all he does is create strife.  And I'm still not convinced that he isn't a sock puppet for AtlantisPlatform. Smiley

You are the dev and thread moderator and I know you don't want to ban people.  You've shown remarkable restraint since the beginning and I respect that, particularly since I've no patience at all for asswipe big-talking internet attention whores like him.  But at some point his behavior has to be seen as nothing more than destructive.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarket.io | New, self-moderated support and news thread. on: March 01, 2014, 01:16:25 PM
I tried telling people here a few days back they were thieves, and they blasted me...this exchange has stolen and cheated its customer base, and the 'faithful' defended it until the '24' hours turned into a week..now coinwarz has removed them as a reference for their coins....these guys were very good at gradually getting people to accept their losses....another warning to us all to be very careful with exchanges....COINMARKET.IO is dead and your coins gone...best we can do is make sure these idiots never start up under another name....

I withdrew the full balances of my btc and two other alt coins yesterday with no problem.  Having said that, I don't expect to go back.  It's too bad since I really like the clean look of their interface, but this astonishing lack of communication just kills it for me.

Yes, I know CoinMarket is in beta.
Yes, I know they have made a (very) few updates.
Yes, I know the most people have had no trouble making withdrawals.

As I've posted earlier, I don't think they're crooks or anything.  I think they are probably working furiously to get everything going.  But for me, it's a pretty simple calculation.  If you provide a site, a system, a service or the like that your clients use and perhaps even rely on and can't find 15 minutes per day to give a few status updates when you're experiencing problems, particularly when you've been down for nearly a week, then I'm simply not going to business with you.

Bummer.  The board admins changed the signature policy.  There go (most of our) our brand new graphics.

Why???

I guess they got tired of all of the brand new accounts pimping what amounted to big ads.  I understand but still, bummer.

I only have a fraction of the funds on Coinmarket.io that some here have and I was fully aware that the site was in beta.  Having said that, there are significant differences between, say, a video game in beta development and a financial exchange.  When you're handling someone's money, there's an expectation of greater accountability.  That is particularly true in a situation like this, beta or no beta, since the owners of coinmarket.io are generating their own profit via their clients' transactions.

I'm not trying to raise a mob with torches and pitchforks.  I like coinmarket.io and have had a very good experience here up until now.  And I certainly do not think there is any sort of scam going on.  I just feel that communication has been lacking.  I've been in I.T. for 20 years and if I ever left my stakeholders in the dark for periods exceeding 24 hours at a time during a major systems outage, I'd most certainly have people screaming at me and would likely be fired.

I don't think anybody here is asking for a detailed description of the problem and the fix.  They just want to know the status.  Even very brief regular updates would be adequate; perhaps every 6 - 8 hours?  Something along the lines of "Still chasing bugs in the engine" or "New server being prepped now".

TL;DR  When you experience problems while handling clients money, you should be as communicative as possible.

Just thought I'd give a little more encouragement to our community.  I just took this screenshot of the overall network mining hashrates.  Notice where we are.  #9 behind Bitcoin, Litecoin, Doge (none of these 3 are shown as they'd dominate the pie chart) and then Feather, World, Moon, Lotto, and Nova.

#9  -  with a hashrate of 1363.71 MH/s

There are some big name coins in that list and we are right in the mix with them.

Also, our exchange volume is about 300,000 which is over a 900% increase from when I looked the other day.

Great work, people!  Let's keep it up:
  • Mine MINE MINE!!!  Add mh/s and kh/s if you can and let's keep this thing cranking!
  • Hold your SmartCoin.  If you don't HAVE to sell, DON'T!  Look where the price has been.  Look at where it is going.  Be smart: hold your coin.
  • If you must sell, be smart and DON'T sell cheap!!!  Let the buyers move up to you; don't climb down to them.  You do this by setting ask prices that are higher than the bids.  Make the buyers BUY their way up to your price.  Don't worry about people dropping 1 satoshi below your sell price to make a quick sale.  Stay steady, strong, and smart and the price will rise to your ask.  Over time, we'll pull them up to 0.0001 and then 0.001 and then....who knows where we can go?

Lastly, be smart and don't freak out about market fluctuations.  This coin IS DEFINITELY going to go up and it IS DEFINITELY going to go down.  Neither of these things is permanent.  Markets move second to second, hour to hour, and day to day.  That's OK.  We're looking for steadily increasing value over time - as in weeks, months, and years.  Mine if you can, trade if you want, but don't get caught in the craziness of the market and find yourself buying into peaks and selling into valleys.  Buy when it drops and then work to make it rise again.  There was a moment last night when BTC was flirting with $300.  If you'd sold then you'd have missed the return to the mid $500s now.  If you'd sold all your BTC 2 years ago, you'd have missed out on the run to $1100+

Maybe we're not the next Bitcoin.  That's fine.  But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be smart and aim for that level of success.

I'm going to buy SMC investment 30BTC! Is expected to put the price up to 0.00012! Held at the cryptsy. Later, please wait. Please miners sell my.TY

Do it!  I'd like to see the effect of a 30 btc buy on the market.

Nice rise so far.  Lets get over the first hump of 0.0001 on our way to 0.001 and up.

We're broken it a few times but we need to make that a point of support so please, continue showing strength and DON'T SELL CHEAP.
