Guess it has been and gone!
Yup, it did get over $1000. And this thread was created back in June, and btc price reached $1000 just 5 months later (BitStamp price) Do we need to change this thread title to $1500? Or, will it ever reach $1000 again?

I would say that the quality of requests to the larger merchants is not as important as the volume of requests.
Of course, if it is to a small company then the quality is important, as it may involve explaining a few details and answering queries. But quality when approaching a larger organisation would only be significant if you were pitching to a key decision maker.
Great idea though. If anything what people can do is continue to educate others on Bitcoin. Penetrate the market (general public) with information, establish the foundations, and the moment they hear it in the media they will have an iota of knowledge going into the article/feature.
Yeah I agree with this. Of they can be educated first, the have the idea backed up by the media etc. it can be really powerful at influencing. Might ask 1pizza1 to take bitcoin

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that, but like said above, I don't think there's anything you can do here. What security measures did you take?

When the market becomes mainstream... Only spend each day what I needed to... The rest keep in Bitcoin and watch it keep going to the moon and beyond! Haha. If only. I'd like to be able to do this too eventually. We can already get most things we want in bitcoin. Next stop - groceries (uk) If the price continues to rise we will always feel like we have paid over the odds for what we have bought using BTC - even more so if it shoots up after you spend. But I guess we can look at things on the other hand and accept that you bought the item(s) on a massive gain Yeah exactly. I probably would feel shit if I bought something and then the price went up. But that's the risk isn't it I guess. As you said, it's still at a gain ideally anyway.

The point of this thread was proof through mathematics and logic that god exists.
If nothing is nothing, everything is everything, everything exists.
But you said Atheism doesn't exist in your title. Lol. Maybe time to close this thread.

I dont think the workers making Samsung phones are exactly having a blast either
True. Samsung imposed such poor working conditions in its Brazilian manufacturing facility that the Brazilian government sued them! Quote from an article I found online: A US-based NGO, China Labor Watch, has compared the working conditions at Samsung with the situation seen in China at Apple's manufacturer Foxconn. But this is different - Apple had a service contract with Foxconn, who treated its employees poorly despite telling their client that labor regulations would be respected. This is not to say that Apple wasn't also at fault, but the company treated the situation in a transparent manner and Tim Cook made sure that he was seen flying to China to demand changes. Requirements were raised so the bar was set higher across its entire supply chain and the Fair Labor Association got involved in the process.
With Samsung in Brazil, it is a different story. In this case there is no outsourced contractor to blame - we are talking about poor working conditions at their own factories. When questioned about the latest lawsuit, Samsung sent me a one-paragraph statement, which said that it is "committed to providing a workplace that adheres to the highest standards in the industry in relation to safety, health and wellbeing" and that it will fully cooperate with the Brazilian authorities when notified.

I haven't watched a film in months as I've been busy with Bitcoin and posting on these forums haha. Got loads of stuff downloaded I want to watch, but will probably make a start on in the new year.
I'm actually happy to finally be done watching the pile of movies I felt obliged to go through! Now I can just watch stuff as I go along... No stockpiling for the time being. Nest one I'm looking forward to is Wolf of Wall Street. The book was pretty insane and I've heard that the drug use in the film is second only to Scarface. Should be a good one, with Scorsese and DiCaprio re-teaming once more! Watched Wolf of Wall Street the other day. Really good film. The performances from Jonah Hill, Di Caprio and Matthew McConaughey were VERY good. Jonah Hill's was probably the best as it's the first time I've seen him venture away from his, 'loveable, chubby friend' role. Not seem him in much other than Get Him to the Greek, Sarah Marshall and Superbad.

They'll never have to work for a thing in their life. It's unfair, but what can you do? Agreed. People should grow up understanding the value of money. Even if I was rich, I'd want my son to go out and get a job to understand that hard work brings rewards. It's ridiculous that these people will never have had to be driven in order to make a living.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Is Looking At How It Can Use Bitcoin For Its Payments Products Read more

I read in a google product forum in early 2013, one person was asking for Bitcoin payment and ignorant people were accusing him as a scammer. 1 year ....so much has changed.
Yeah I heard a similar story to this. I used to be a neysayer on Bitcoin. I remember telling a friend how it all sounded like a scam. Now I'm eating my words! A lot of people assume it's a scam because of the if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is ethos. Yeah very good point. My friend tried to get me into it when Bitcoin was around $50. How I wish I'd listened! I got in at $850! I've got two mates who I told about Bitcoin. One is pretty smart and was sceptical of Bitcoin and he immediately thought it was a scam, the other isn't very smart and wanted to invest straight away, but that guy is always getting scammed on stuff as he's greedy and gets blinded easily by the promise of profit. He was basically ready to invest without even actually doing his own research on it and it could've been total BS for all he knew. I probably could've sold him 1 Dogecoin for the price of a Bitcoin and he would've been none the wiser. Haha, sounds about right. Better to be cautions of failing, than to fail at being cautious. Just made that up

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to introduce someone to Bitcoin?
|
on: January 25, 2014, 10:11:00 PM
|
It is starting to get easier to introduce people to bitcoins, but it is still pretty intimidating for someone who isn't that tech savvy to wrap their head around the entire concept.
I have explained it to children as a universal currency that can be used worldwide without the need to convert it into the currency of the country in which you are trying to spend money. I've also said that you can send money anywhere in the world almost instantaneously without it costing either person very much money. I've also compared it to precious metals as it is a storage of value because as of right now, to spend the bitcoins you typically convert it back to dollars, yen, pesos, etc). This is temporary until more and more business accept bitcoin as a currency.
My third grade daughter's teacher actually asked her to write a report on litecoin after she brought in a physical litecoin to school to show everyone. So i am currently working on describing btc and ltc in terms that a kid can understand.
Great idea. If this all pans out the way we're all hoping, I want to explain it all to my son at some point. If only for him to understand how to inherit and use my BTC.

Almost all(in fact, all) of the alt-coins out there are going to be a waste of time. They're being created to take advantage of people who get super excited about different things and then get pumped and dumped.
Most alt coins are completely pointless and just poor replicas of what's already out there with little to no improvement.
Those alt coins(junkcoins) are spreading the investment of bitcoin and can't be good for crypto as a whole, they will also destroy people's trust of cryptocurrencies after their crash and run and disapparation. only their "developers" or "early adopters team" will get rich quick by taking your money away.
Bitcoin has a limit of only 21 million, however with all these so called "alt coins", the total number of crypto is in fact unlimited and make all cryptocurrencies end up into a ponzi scheme(only detract from people's perceived value of Bitcoin and the legitimacy of cryptos in general)
Stop and Ban those alt coins copycats now, let the money flow back to the bitcoin!
I think that the alt-coins actually take advantage of people new to cryptocurrency. I remember clearly thinking to myself when I first got into this, 'Bitcoin is pretty expensive and it's not profitable to mine it on my laptop, how about another alt'. This is when newbies look at alternatives and get caught up in the bull of it all. I nearly got swept away in Coinye. Yeah, a lot of newbs just want to feel like they're a part of the start of something. A lot of their logic is based entirely on the fact that they think they're 'going to the moon' just because Bitcoin did. They think if they hoard these millions of coins long enough they'll sell them as soon as they hit a dollar and become millionaires, but that's never gonna happen when you've got a marketcap of billions. Yeah, the old 'how do I get rich quick' crowd have ventured from Internet Marketing to Bitcoin.
