341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: August 05, 2019, 05:34:25 PM
I would better measure ETH price in dollars, not in BTC. ETH may fall even lower in BTC if bitcoin continues to grow fast. So, nothing surprising here, ETH may cost 200$ USD and live long and prosper.

I have a feeling that's how most will be looking at alts in the near future, not just ETH. Against BTC and pretty much the entire alt market looks terrible. Of course traders probably aren't looking at it that way, and understandably so, as most trade against BTC, not fiat.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: August 04, 2019, 09:34:04 PM
As we all know, the exchange rate of Ethereum has fallen during the past few months (vs BTC). From around 0.035 BTC per coin six months back, the prices have fallen to 0.0205 BTC as of now. The market share of Ethereum in the cryptocurrency market has fallen from 11.5% to 8.3% during the same period. Other alts have also fallen, but not by this much.

And this has happened despite the boost it received from the IEOs. Can ETH manage a comeback anytime soon? Will the investors stop selling their ETH holdings for BTC, and hold on to the coin?

Almost all alts had a really bad time. when bitcoin goes down again i expect alts going down much more, also ethereum. keep in mind that the latest news about ethereum regarding using bsv chain were not so good. (my personal opinion)

If btc crashes I expect alts to follow suit, but if btc does a normal-sized correction then slow fall, I strangely think that may benefit alts -- and in the longrun, probably better for btc as well. Now alts may not improve a lot against fiat in such a scenario, but against btc then there is a chance, as btc dominance may go down a bit.

BTC around 8-9K, then I can see a minor alt season breaking out. But if BTC keeps climbing like it has, then I think there won't be much relief for alts.

And I think it was the BCH chain they were considering? Not that it matters really, but yeah, that news wasn't generally taken very well.

The entire alt market is pretty much in the same boat. I don't recall Dash prices this low (against btc) for like 3+ years... most alts are currently like half the value of 'normal' prices.

Now can ETH recover? Sure, who knows where the markets will go. But if BTC dominance keeps increasing, we'll be looking at BTC and that's about it, nobody will be putting money into other cryptos, including ETH.

And ETH can survive just fine regardless. You are thinking like an investor, but it's used in so many projects it'll keep chugging along. And remember some people think in fiat, not in BTC ratios, so ETH most likely will increase in fiat value even if BTC dominance goes up, just that against BTC the price may look really crummy.

When is 2.0/staking planned for ETH? That could potentially be a turning point, but I haven't followed things close enough to keep track.
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin halving effects on price on: August 03, 2019, 09:32:50 PM
I think halving is priced already. So Ltc price will not raise in short term. But in the future, cuz of less miner earnings and inflation, it will raise in future. but i said again, not in short term!

Agreed, it was baked in months ago really. And now folks have taken their profits.

I too think it'll go up in the future, but more likely it'll just rise based on btc vs anything special about ltc.
One exception could be that NFL thing with litecoin and the Dolphins, I suppose. One of those weird partnerships that came out of seemingly nowhere. I guess more exposure when the season starts might bring a boost to ltc.

coinexchange.io I suppose is the main place to buy/sell beans right now. It is also listed on smaller exchanges (not that coinexchange isn't already small) -- btcpop and maybe novaexchange, but they won't have much volume.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you choose which bounty campaign to participate in? on: August 03, 2019, 05:50:47 PM
There are a couple of factors, but the two big ones for me from the start are no KYC and if they pay out either tokens or ETH/BTC on a set schedule. There are a number of campaigns that decide to pack it in early and vanish or decide at the end they didn't get the expected funding, and then they don't pay out to the bounty people. So ideally try to find campaigns where you know you'll at least get something no matter what.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should I do with a 1000$ and what would you do? on: August 02, 2019, 08:09:27 PM
If choosing crypto, then BTC. If you absolutely want an alt, then ETH.

Otherwise, just stick it in the bank or run a side-business like you planned. Right now BTC is the
safe bet ... if it goes crazy, sell at a high, then buy back in on the dip.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you trust FB with your KYC details? on: August 02, 2019, 05:49:50 PM
As a concept I don't mind the idea of KYC. I mean, banks require it, and ideally it's used to prevent identity theft.

However in practice I'm wary, as it's not just FB, but any exchange, company or even bank being secure enough with your information.  Now many exchanges require KYC and it's a necessary evil, but it's not like I'm confident in coinbase not being hacked one day and losing a ton of customer's data. As for FB, I don't even trust them with my real name when making a FB page, so I trust them even less than most companies. They don't require a hack to lose your personal data, they'll gladly sell it all on their own.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins Holders ,be calm on: August 02, 2019, 04:46:09 PM
You canīt do anything right now, selling when your portfolio is 10 times cheaper than 2 years before is not worth it I think. Maybe you can consider buying more and reduce the loss.

That's the problem right now for most. Alts are so crushed right now, to sell means a pretty huge loss. So when weighing risk/reward, most probably are better off holding and just hoping the alt market eventually recovers. Now if folks can escape breaking even or with a minor profit, it's a different story, but I don't think most traders are in that position right now.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trends in altcoins today on: August 01, 2019, 08:05:57 PM
The only trend I see right now is almost all altcoins getting crushed by BTC. And that includes the top 10 coins too. Of course this may change, and I hope it does, but it's not like anyone can spot a definite trend that would be a positive sign for investing into any alts. I guess if BTC declines, Alts start to rise, then it may be time to consider jumping on -- but as to which alt... I'm not sure there is a trend to spot besides avoid the truly junk coins.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you still hodling that shitcoin? on: August 01, 2019, 07:26:07 PM
The big problem of course is that most shitcoins are worthless, so it's usually more trouble than it's worth to try to sell a bunch of shitcoins for like $5 total.

Only time I tend to bother is when a coin might pump up a little, then I might move it to something a little better ... with the hope a couple of somewhat bad coins may outpace pure junk.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: trade makes me poor on: August 01, 2019, 07:22:46 PM
When you invest only on 1 basket. If you lose on it then you don't have anything to save with.
So please share your investments in another Altcoins. I think $1000 is enough to spread it into 5 altcoins, not just focussing on 1 coin.

Problem right now is that most of the entire alt market is down. So instead of losing with one basket, he'd just lose with 5 baskets.

I'm not saying not to diversify, just that as the way things are right now, it may not help that much. Maybe primarily invest in btc, some in eth, then spread out the rest into 5 altcoin baskets could work. But I wouldn't tell anyone to invest just in alts right now, kind of risky, even if they diversify.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doge coin is good or bad for investment ? on: August 01, 2019, 07:18:14 PM
Dogecoin is not a coin to invest, dogecoin is created just for pleasure like gambling, the price of dogecoin will always be low, it will never be high because the total supply is very large

Say what you guys all want to say about dogecoin,,, but it has served me well over the years. I got all of my initial dogecoin because of friendly people who wanted to help me learn about crypto. They sent me a huge tip and I held on to most of it. Then later, I got some more and when dogecoin hit 100 satoshi I sold all of the ones I bought and made 3x. Guess what happened, Doge went down again I bought it again, and it went back to 100. It is down now so I am getting more. 100 satoshi is always going to be Dogecoin's aim.

Just because it happened before doesn't mean it will happen again.  There is a very real chance that dogecoin will never return to 100 satoshis, many altcoins will die out.  I'm not an investor in doge because it is still considered a joke and there is no future development on it.

That's my mindset as well. Not that it can't still be profitable, and who knows, maybe it will hit 100 again. But I wouldn't count on it just because it happened in the past. Something folks have probably noticed is that the swings are becoming tighter (like the last Binance bounce) ... very possible doge will go up but I wouldn't count on it to do the 2-3x thing again. And there is no saying that current doge levels are the bottom either...

I have a very small amount, mostly just for fun, and have used it to transfer funds between exchanges (when they have crazy high fees). But it's pretty difficult to consider it for a serious investment.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin crush the altcoins?! on: August 01, 2019, 07:27:20 AM
Bitcoin affects other altcoins, of course, but it is completely connected to bitcoins. What matters is the qualoty the investment and market capacity

Generally when the btc rises other coins follows it and that is why it is said to be leader as it decides the future course of the other coin In which direction it will fall . This time inspite of btc risen to 13k some time back altcoins just did not rise accordingly .

So far, that's the key difference. Alts haven't kept up pace after each btc rise. In fact, any movement by btc at all seems to spin alts downward. BTC does a little roller coaster thing and correction, alts fell each step, never really getting back to where they were beforehand.

This will sound odd, but the best thing for crypto as a whole, or at the least alt market, may be for btc to fall back a bit and cool off... or at least remain stable for a couple of months.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: trade makes me poor on: July 30, 2019, 07:46:55 PM
Trading must also be able to do it right.  Because not everyone is able to trade and still have a profit.  As for me, it takes years to become a confident trader.

I've been doing this for years and I'm still not a confident trader. Too much luck involved (or bad luck) to ever really feel confident. Even if you do everything logically and without emotion, some dumb little thing out of your control can crash the markets at a moment's notice.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trends in altcoins today on: July 29, 2019, 01:49:10 AM
Goof afternoon everyone. I am rather new to crypto industry, so pretty often just choosing the most popular alts to invest and don't use other instruments. As for you, what can you guys recommend besides just buying and holding? Probably any of you trade and aware of good guides that can help to get into it faster? Or probably you mine, so you can recommend good equipment to have a look at? Anyway, interested in your experience. Thanks!

As others have stated, probably best for you to do your own research. It's not like there is an automatic 'get rich trading' guide out there. You could look into bounties and airdrops if you want -- but even there, most of the time they don't pay out much.

358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can we ever have altcoin season again. on: July 27, 2019, 05:59:45 PM
One thing I have learnt about this space is that, prediction don't normally work, most times people predict based on what they know while the market will go against everything. So I think it's better trading, etc while allowing the market to play out this will not only keeps us at rest but will also allow us to explore other options or opportunities at hand. Altseason will come though but no one knows when.

That should be the crypto slogan -- prediction doesn't work. I do think altcoin season will arrive eventually, but it may come when nobody expects it, and who knows what it'll look like. I don't expect the insane run like 17, but it should at least be better than what we have seen this year.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congressman Sherman - Libra is more dangerous then 9/11 on: July 27, 2019, 05:56:30 PM
Seems more like political posturing to me. It's easy now to be anti-facebook ... and there are some real concerns with facebook controlling any type of currency.

In the end, I don't think it'll matter as much as some think. It's basically just a crypto version of paypal, run by a company that most wouldn't trust with their money.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the sustenability of altcoins with real life value? on: July 27, 2019, 05:53:45 PM
What do you think about the sustenability of altcoins with real life value for the world economy? Altcoins like Wibson, for example is particularly concerned about helping data owners (anyone that's owns a social media account, for instance) to benefit from the use of such data. They try to curb the tremendous privacy invasion of big social media organizations such as facebook on users account. These organizations sells users data even without any prior notice to the users, let alone giving them (the users) the chance to monetize such activities.

I feel the sustenability of this kind of project will create an ecosystem where privacy will be respected and users data will be more safe. What do you think guys?

Not sure if you are simply trying to hype some coin (wibson, whatever that is) that nobody has heard of before or are asking a serious question.

As for altcoins, I think it'll come down to whether they actually proide a real service and generate income -- like any business. There are plenty of alts with decent ideas, but either they never really get off the ground, or their business model kind of doesn't exist.
