1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Its time to buy - end of bear market incoming on: May 11, 2022, 08:33:00 PM
Judging from the latest developments in the crypto market, the end of the bear market could be near but looks like it will be followed by a full-fledged Crypto Winter 2.0.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - a joke or a way to make money? on: May 11, 2022, 08:29:53 PM
DOGE is a great tool for short-term speculations but definitely not a good one for long-term investment. Although it's backed by the richest man in the world so it might have a bright future.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Is crypto the final stage in the evolution of money? on: May 11, 2022, 08:07:34 PM
Crypto definitely represents the next level of evolution of money, but it's also definitely not the last. As much as we love crypto, it's still too imperfect to be considered the end product of economic evolution.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Will BTC be used as a world currency?? on: May 11, 2022, 07:59:27 PM
Bitcoin is unfit for the role of global currency. Firstly, its potential global adoption will be vehemently resisted due to the environmental concerns associated with PoW mining. Secondly, it's the volatility - the global currency needs to be more or less reliable and not swinging like a baseball bat. Lastly, comprehending prices for some cheap goods in sats with all those zeroes is honestly too hard.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanction isn't the right option on: May 10, 2022, 04:56:00 PM
A wise man once said that to carry on the war, three things are necessary: money, money, and yet more money. The parallel with Germany (the Weimar Republic) is inappropriate - if you want to draw comparisons, the Blockade of Germany between 1939 - 1945 would be more illustrative. Hopefully, Russia doesn't turn to crypto to mend its economic troubles and circumvent sanctions because that would be draconian regulations from the U.S. and the EU.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: May 10, 2022, 04:44:43 PM
Green energy, high-tech, and crypto will be the pillars on which the future civilized society will stand. Fossil fuel-based economies like that of Russia are pretty much done with anyway - this war only expedites Russia's inevitable demise as an impactful player from the economic standpoint. So gas ban or not, Russia's geopolitical ambitions or not, the world needs to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels while the crypto community needs to find solutions for PoW mining.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think we should do with our investments in times of uncertainty? on: May 10, 2022, 04:31:47 PM
A good crypto investor isn't the one who worries about his holdings at times of uncertainty. A good crypto investor prepares for such times when the market is flourishing. Start preparing for the worst when everyone is ecstatic like they were at the dawn of 2021. Always think, analyze, predict, and act, or exercise patience, when needed. And then there won't be any "times of uncertainty."
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trading Bitcoin and crypto "could destroy your life", go to rehab hehehe on: May 10, 2022, 04:24:08 PM
Crypto could be labeled as "gambling" only by those who are either stupid or lazy to learn the craft of trading and investing. If someone is a gambler without any self-discipline, then crypto would "destroy his life" for sure. Trading crypto and predicting where the market flow is becoming easier with all those tools and data feeds available today.
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Using a Stop loss "Good" or "Bad" on: May 08, 2022, 04:39:48 PM
Stop loss is a great tool in skillful hands, so to speak, and a real penance for those who don't know where and when to place it. I agree that it's very much like a knife or even like water - it keeps you alive but at the same time, you can drown in it. Everything is relevant, you know. There are tons of strategies to avoid stop loss hunting - some of them really work.
One can trade without a stop loss but it's possible only when day trading and being constantly glued to the screen. In that case, one may use the so-called "mental stop loss." Otherwise, you'll get stuck hoping that the market would "bounce back any minute now" while usually it just keeps sinking lower - been there, done that.
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can America end the war in Ukraine?? on: May 08, 2022, 04:23:46 PM
No, the U.S. can't end this war as it can only be ended by the gang of warmongers in the Kremlin. So the question itself is pointless. It's obvious that most people here don't know the first thing about the history of Ukraine and its relationships with Russia. FYI, over the past few centuries, there have been 28 armed conflicts between the two, not to mention three man-made famines. Many of those happened before the U.S. even emerged on the map. Russia would have begun that war eventually whether the U.S. or the EU were involved or not, the reason to pick up the fight has always been found - that's how history dictates.
It's better for us, crypto nerds, to be focused on how this war would affect the crypto market, though it's already evident that the bear market or even the crypto winter is the closest since 2018.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never Be in a hurry on: May 08, 2022, 04:02:26 PM
"Never be in a hurry" which basically equates to avoiding being caught in the FOMO is both the most basic and the most valuable advice that a newbie trader can get. But, as it always happens, it’s easier said than done. It’s super hard to resist betting big on crypto that’s pumping right before your eyes. That’s the thing about trading - it looks calm and somewhat boring from the outside, but on the inside, it’s an emotional rollercoaster, especially when it comes to crypto. But on the other hand, constantly restraining yourself results in lost opportunities. In my opinion, it always narrows down not so much to patience but to risk and money management, the factors that also were mentioned in the original post.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are NFT Tokens a Good Long Term Investments? on: May 06, 2022, 08:28:03 PM
IMHO, the only NFTs that are worth holding for a long time are those that hold a real intellectual value, and preferably those that have a physical product behind them so that the token only represents a confirmation of ownership and a visual representation of the said item. For instance, that could be a work of art with the physical painting behind the NFT or an original copy of some book that holds the promise of becoming a bestseller with NFTs being like illustrations to the book. I would buy such NFTs, the rest is mostly hype - even BAYC - that will blow off soon.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How low can BTC go this time around on: May 06, 2022, 07:53:06 PM
From the look of things, there is a high probability that Bitcoin would sink to $30,000 or even lower by this fall. It looks that way from both the point of technical analysis and the ongoing global economic and geopolitical turmoils that are unlikely to cease in the near future.

From the point of TA, Bitcoin seems to have failed to establish a foothold above $40,000, and the momentum is obviously on the bearish side - check out both MACD and Stochastic. The selling pressure right now is just too strong for any rally, and it could stay this way for at least a few months.
And when it comes to fundamentals, they also aren't on BTC's side. Simply put, retail investors won't be buying a risky asset on the verge of WWIII and possibly of global food shortage, accompanied by soaring fuel prices. All in all, the world is too turbulent right now and BTC is too volatile, hence risky, for the rally to occur. It could have been the case if Russians actively used crypto as a means to evade sanctions but apparently, that loophole has been closed.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you choose which altcoin will you buy? on: November 12, 2019, 11:15:35 AM
Hello

Recently I started looking into new projects as I have some free time and I'm wondering what do you guys look at when you are deciding which altcoin to buy and hold.

Do you know any projects that you believe has a bright future?

I hear a lot of people complaining that they bought coins that were either dead in a few weeks or the project was pointless. I would like to avoid such situations.

Thank you in advance.

I don't, I think that if someone wants to invest - BTC is the way to go. Altcoins are all moved up or down depending on what BTC does, and any change on their own is only a temporary buff that quickly sees a correction. They can be used by traders, but for investors, I think BTC is the best option.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is the market currently being manipulated? on: November 12, 2019, 11:12:54 AM
It is probably the safest to assume that market is always being manipulated. With the exchanges, and whales, and centralized projects that are trying to act like real cryptos, it's a mess out there.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: So many altcoins on: November 12, 2019, 11:10:53 AM
I risk creating a duplicate question. But I'll try.

A huge number of crypto assets are discussed here. In the neighboring sections, new projects appear every day. But these are all false, far-fetched and almost always unsuccessful undertakings. New “projects” absorb the incoming money flow, which does not benefit the industry, but enriches individuals.
All this created for some cunning rogue?

Yes, some projects look interesting and potentially. I like the idea of global currencies for various use and applications. W/o traditional money. W/o state control.
Is it not better to leave the opportunity to develop what is, than to continue to spray funds on scoundrels?

I do not know how this works and is managed. If all this is basically without control, then the future of the cryptocurrency world looks vague. However, this is interesting, because in addition to the expected collapse, there may be unexpected surprises.

Most of these new altcoins are so unnecessary that it is ridiculous. I have seen ICOs that no one would have bothered to even talk about, much less create, if the crypto wasn't so popular as a way of earning money from gullible investors these days. CoinMarketCap has almost 5k coins listed these days, which is twice as many as there were a year ago. You are perfectly correct, it is way to many, with unoriginal ideas, bad tech, and no use cases for most of them. However, I do believe that like 99% of them will fail in the next few years. The only question is will the new ones replace them? Will altcoins just keep popping up, pumping the number higher and higher, or if we can finally drop back to some normal number of good quality projects?
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Permission to Use Bitcoin Logo on: November 12, 2019, 11:03:24 AM
I’ve tweeted @bitcoin for permission to use their bitcoin logo on a t-shirt. Waiting on a reply. If perhaps it was missed or something. Is there any other way to request permission from bitcoin.org?

To be perfectly honest, it did not even cross my mind that one would have to get permission for using the BTC logo. I never did use it, but if I did, I don't expect I would have thought of that. Good job, though.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it advisable to use cryptocurrency to support my favorite content creators? on: November 12, 2019, 10:54:36 AM
I’ve been noticing that services such as Patreon have been booting off some content creators that have “violated” their terms and services. I was just wondering whether it would be possible to support my favorite content creators using cryptocurrency donations to their websites if they allow it?

Sure, if they know about crypto and are willing to accept it, definitely. I know of some people who are aware of it but do not really want to meddle with it too much. If they learned more about it (incentivized by donations, maybe?) they could even help spread awareness. It is not a requirement, of course, but every little bit helps, and each new person that gets into crypto is another step in the right direction.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Turkey working on their own digital by end of 2020 on: November 11, 2019, 07:34:19 AM
After announcement of the creation of own national cryptocurrency made by the Chinese government another country (Turkey) also  joined the race of creating their own national digital currency name Lira, which was the first basic monetary unit used by Italian and Turkey before the introduction of Euro in the year 2002.
Source
I believe the reason why country are planning their own national crypto was because the IMF boss advised and the question is will more countries also creating their own national cryptocurrency?

These might be called cryptocurrencies, but they won't be real cryptos. Countries won't launch coins that they cannot control. We have already seen many times what cryptos launched by governments and major companies look like. Venezuela's Petro is one example. Facebook's Libra (while not launched yet) is another. China would rather shoot itself in the foot than release a real crypto, otherwise they would have just accepted BTC. These will be centralized coins controlled by governments and companies, nothing more.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin down on: November 11, 2019, 07:30:46 AM
Bitcoin is back down to $ 7500 and altcoin is also following Bitcoin, is this to buy BTC when it is going down badly or waiting for the price of $ 7,000,

Obviously, things have changed since this post got published, but the time for buying depends on your intentions. If you mean to hold it for a few years, any time is good for investing. If you want to trade, then there are trading techniques that can help you make a profit with greater certainty of success.
