243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it possible to recover a wallet.dat after a reformat on: November 21, 2013, 12:08:33 AM
I doubt it will work, but you can try using Recuva to find your lost wallet. I saw another guy had done it and found his wallet, but the wallet.dat file was corrupt, so it didn't work. Worth a shot though, I guess.

yeah I'm going to try some 3rd party programs and see if they can recover it, would be nice to not only find the wallet.dat uncorrupted but have 100 coins it....heh.. Wink
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Is it possible to recover a wallet.dat after a reformat on: November 20, 2013, 08:00:54 PM
I have a old computer I stopped using ago with a BTC wallet from probably early 2011, the problem is in the period between 2011 and when I stopped using the computer in 2012, it probably has had anywhere from 2-4 complete reformat's on the pc.........

I have no idea how many coins if any where in that wallet, but it had to be a few....

so is very deep deep deep data recovery possible or will I waste my time trying to do this.. Cool

I would rather save these commissions and offer lower spreads by taking a little bit of risk. I'm okay with losing money on some transactions while making them back on others.

you said that

And you claim not to trade against your clients?

The US authorities could shut your business down in 30 seconds for money laundering and seize your domain.

Settle the legal issues before you start offering services to the public if you are a serious company.

Being in business for 45 days means absolutely nothing, a good scam would wait months to extract maximum value before pulling a runner.

255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze? on: October 22, 2011, 12:22:52 AM
I have no sympathy for anyone who loses all their money when the site suddenly goes down

in other words, you are a colossal douchebag that wishes ill on complete strangers for no reason. got it.

oh I am sorry for doing due diligence about anonymous internet bucketshops offering 5:1 leverage.

If my posts SAVE some money from being thrown into a black hole then good.

This bitcoinica operation is screaming red flags everywhere but by all means continue to trust a US illegally operated business run by a 17 year old  Roll Eyes

If I had any money in there I would personally report them to the SEC and NFA but since I do not I will leave it to any members of these sites that wish to do so.

And I am being the douchbag? Those encouraging people to use this site are the douchbags.

And this zhoutong replies to comments about his shop are showing such extreme limited knowledge of how to run a broker that even if it was a licensed business I would run the fk away.
256  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze? on: October 21, 2011, 11:08:17 PM
regardless of what bitcoinica says can he prove it?

Many forex brokers swear up and down that they are not bucketshops and have no interests against their clients while they really do, a few words on a message board changes absolutely nothing in my eyes.

Oh and the whois points to the operation being run inside the USA which is a massive red flag.

I hope the NFA,SEC come down on your ass for running an illegal unlicensed operation.

Oh and a simple google search reveals that the man representing to be behind bitcoinica is a 17 year old

This is a funny thread.

First of all

Bitcoinica by all measures is a bucketshop, the people playing there are playing against bitcoinica. No matter WHAT they say they are a bucketshop just like a huge majority of forex brokers facing the USA

So people shorting bitcoin over at bitcoinica has no effect on market price.

Moving on,

Bit coin is NOT the stock market, There are no bulls ready to set off a massive rally and there are no bears ready to plunge it again. It is simply a few holders with large amounts of coin who decide to buy/sell their coins all at once and people will jump on the trend and the lower it goes the more speculative interest goes right out the window.

I swear to god these boards sound like penny stock boards, you know where the stocks go from $50 to $0.5 and people are still holding because one day it will "return to the good old days"

I love the people throwing out technical analysis(very poor TA btw) and think it relates to bit coin.

hah.. Roll Eyes
258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will one day rise again like the phoenix on: October 19, 2011, 08:02:08 PM
Much of the speculative interest in bitcoin is gone and will stay gone. Once people get burned they are not chomping at the bit to get back in.

Bitcoin will continue lower and lower since the negative feedback loop is a vicious one and just when you think there is a bottom it can and will go lower.

It's simple what bit coin needs.

1. ACTUAL licensed exchanges inside the United States. I want recourse for my money if the exchange just decides to pull a runner. If MTGOX decided to be "haxed" tomorrow not only could they steal all your bit coins they also now have many members personal documents for "verification" purposes that could be sold on the black market for much more then their entire bit coin business.

Not saying they will I am saying they CAN and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

So yeah get some LEGIT exchanges.

2. We need actual merchants to accept the currency. Ponzi schemes and rigged gambling sites do not count. I am aware that more and more sites accept bit coin but the majority of them are unknown and are just using bit coin as a gimmick. We need bit coin to be accepted in broad marketplaces such as a mmorpg or a massive online retailer.

but none of that will happen since the speculative bubble has burst and very little big money will even raise an eyebrow at using bit coin now.

It's to  bad, there's always the future for some other currency to do it right.

 Cheesy

I hold 0 bit coins
259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 17, 2011, 12:33:58 PM
bit coin worth 2.x today 1.x soon then 0.X after that.

Sorry you guy's can't retire from running your video cards 24/7 on these big expensive computers  Roll Eyes that will now flood ebay and bring down your expected recovery value.

But hey, it was a very very nice ride if you took advantage of the human stupidity or if you want to put it nicely "exuberance" know as prices at $30+.....

But the majority did not.  Tongue

I wonder how low bitcoin has to go before mtgox pretends it was haxed again and this time "for good"

Count on it.

Or don't

Whatever you like  Roll Eyes

260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: October 16, 2011, 11:55:24 PM
Active times.. We have seen a big reversal upwards.

Could you elaborate?

The turn took place on the short term (minute) time scale. This upmove was the strongest in many days and could be the start of a larger bounce / reversal.
A move above 3.7 $ will now confirm at least another move up.
see chart

Do you really believe what you are saying?

12 year Trader experience.....really?

I can only imagine how many times you have busted out in those 12 years   Wink

But alas, know your target audience and I see you are selling "subscriptions" to your technical analysis(lol). You are I know that the only ones you could hope to subscribe are the ones of the bullish mindset so it is no surprise to me that you are constantly bullish in the face of a flat/declining market for the past 6 months.

It doesn't change anything that the bulls have been dead  wrong for god knows how long.

Oh and taking a quick look at your site your elliot wave count is...well.....lol..... and you using log charts in the majority of your charting is also quite funny.

Not an attack, just a few observations from an actual trader

Carry on.... Cool
