1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] The Coin(O) Community Discussion thread on: August 29, 2014, 02:14:02 PM
The Coin(O) Discussion is not limited to only IRC. I urge anyone with an idea or opinion to even post it here on our official Bitcointalk thread.

I always thought it needs something in the "real world" to promote it, you can buy pizza's with bitcoins etc, so why not with COINO coin?

SO one idea I have is whether we can get Coino working with say, Munzee's. (www.munzee.com)

I've been a Munzee-er for a few years now (online QR GPS based hunting game), bit like geocaching. I am "friends" in the loosest sense with the CEO of the company and I wonder whether we could promote Coino somehow through this. They are a technologically focussed "fun" based company who are open to new ideas... maybe we use Coino as an alternative currency to buy the various game pieces that are sold.

I don't know... maybe its too early for this, maybe it needs some investment + plus an exchange... (and I am definitely not promoting munzee btw, its just something I've been doing for a while and could fit)...

Anyway, one to add into the melting pot of "ideas..."

Joulecoin has been updated to be in line with Bitcoin 0.9.2.1. This brings all the fixes and features from Bitcoin 0.9.2.1 (e.g. coin control) to Joulecoin.

Compile from Github or download the latest Windows wallets here:

Windows QT Wallet 0.9.2.1
Win32 http://www.joulecoin.org/joulecoin092r1win32.zip
Win64 http://www.joulecoin.org/joulecoin092r1win64.zip
Win32 (Dropbox) https://www.dropbox.com/s/m28vqd243zhl490/joulecoin092r1win32.zip
Win64 (Dropbox) https://www.dropbox.com/s/z523hmm2i2sxxjr/joulecoin092r1win64.zip
Win32 (Mega) https://mega.co.nz/#!Js4FGBTA!FeHTkRK0JTpHAte24400Egfda2NhZrHs8GCR7XCvluI
Win64 (Mega) https://mega.co.nz/#!h8w0SD6K!EIU8cfo-_WdgC2RdP3JTCN4TX0UQTTVINjsPVmSKGPA

For those building in Linux, the new build sequence is:

./autogen.sh
./configure
make

Great, all seems to be working. I will continue to mine this coin, and hope this survives the altcoin demise that is happening.

Brand new block explorer, with richlist and more.

Give the block explorer time to be up2date with the current blocks, that can take some hours.

Hi, is there a new windows installer?
4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: M's Ant (S1/S2) Monitor v1.5 on: May 28, 2014, 08:49:53 AM
Umm.. it works fine here.  Sometimes I get Xs that won't go away without a power cycle, but for the most part, the webui reboot works fine.  Automated no less.

M

It usually works, but is not 100% due to S1 WebUI being somewhat buggy. SSH automation is ideal but not sure how easy it is to do with a windows tool like this(easy to do in linux/mac).

Generally you will find the main issue with rebooting via the webui is that it can under certain circumstances cease responding, therefore will not accept a manual request to restart. VB does not as far as I know, come with any sort of SSH functions prebuilt in, I guess you'd have to embed some sort of ssh client to allow the interface to login via ssh and for example, restart cgminer.

Speed is not really a thing with this type of tool though because no matter what, its a hell of a lot faster than manually logging in to the web interface of x amount of ants, which is most peoples experience who have little idea what ssh is. Resources wise, how could it use any more resources than a user manually doing the same thing. I made something similar to this a while back, but its main mission was to output a web page so I can view the status of the ants remotely ( rather than forward ports to the ants ), I have it run every 10 minutes, grabs the stats and writes them to a webpage, basically the same way this app gathers data for its gui, works well enough.

I think the only thing to watch out for in terms of resources, is not having it run its checks too closely together, for example nothing more strenuous than say what a user would inflict on an Ant via manually viewing the stats page via a browser.

Brilliant tool thank you!

Just to report that the auto-reboot thing doesn't work... (for me anyway). I've waiting for quite a while but it keeps hashing away without a reboot... (not to worry though).

Congratz to Coino Community and a huge big appreciative hug to the fab devs who have taken this on. Keep it up...

Now, my small little contribution... we should have a "strap line" that goes with Coino... a marketing line (bit like "a mars a day helps you work, rest and play")

So how about something cheesy like "Coino - flash, dash and splash" (or someone come up with a much better slogan!)...
6  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: UK Hosting for Mining kit on: May 06, 2014, 03:03:34 PM
I would be interested in this providing prices are cheap and a good rate over the year.

Same here, I would like hosting for 8 x Antminer S1's.
Make it a good competitive deal and you have my repeat (and expanding) business

We now have a Community Wallet Address for you to make donations, should you want to, for future Coin(O) Community Efforts.
COINO : UWny7ri39ZxdBcTCvNE1tzuPDTD898WvWj

Started donating a few coins to this... I'd like to give some to the developers as well... can we have something up on the coinocoin website with donations to the developers as I think without you guys coino would be dead in the water... Id like to donate to you as well as the community.. unless the above donation IS the best way

I'm not going to jump up and say the developers are rich... but we aren't needing donations to us directly at the moment.   I think all of the people working to move the coin forward would rather see the donations go to the community to help further the cause.

Anything donated to that community address is going to stay out of our pockets and available for use in the community.  Both Steve and I have access to it, but we won't be pulling it out until there is a stated reason.  In fact, we have both contributed to it as well to ensure there is a sizable amount available.

At the moment its balance in just under 24,000 thanks to everyone who has already given some Coino.

And to make sure we are clear, the time everyone has invested in updating and making new features, websites, etc is unpaid.  The server resources that are making it all run are donated as well and there are no immediate plans to change that.

Lets move Coino forward by making sure the support is shown for the entire community, not just the actual people who are volunteering - we aren't here to look for handouts.

Will be making weekly donations to the community pot
Many thanks

Hi All.

We now have a Community Wallet Address for you to make donations, should you want to, for future Coin(O) Community Efforts.

COINO : UWny7ri39ZxdBcTCvNE1tzuPDTD898WvWj

ALL donations will be used by the community team for the benefit of the community.

As you may know, the current Community Team were not involved in any pre-mine activity of Coin(O), and thus we have no Coin(O) stashed away to further the Coin(O) cause.

No developers or Community Members will directly profit from any donations you make as they will all go towards supporting Coin(O)'s future.

Happy mining

Your Coin(O) Community Team.

I am not sure I can contribute much from a technical perspective, but as a minimum I would very much like to contribute Coino's to the new "development" team as a thank you for keeping this going.

I sure would like to hear from the original developer, and what role he can continue to play/lead...

For everyones safety do not send out any coins right now. Blockchain is stuck at 269708.

The new source is available to update your wallet.  Compiled binaries are coming as we get them done.

I have push requested the update to the main Coino fork, but at the moment you can get it from my fork at:

https://github.com/bgade/coino

You may want to manually add this node to speed up your re-sync:
206.45.96.254

At this particular moment, the main network is on block 269718.

The problem was caused by a code issue that was affected by daylight savings time.  It has been corrected.  At the same time, the KGW exploit was included.

This update represents a HARD FORK at block 269708.  This is a required update.

er...for the less IT capable... what the hell do you have to do here? I downloaded the ZIP files from GitHub... but it didn't contain any executables etc...
What do you mean "manually add this node"? Add to what?

For the less IT savy, keep an eye on this thread and the coinocoin IRC.

As the new binary downloads are available you will be informed

Thanks - sorry, I have no idea what is meant my compiling something... I guess it means to convert the files into "proper" files or something... (hey I'm an accountant, I can help with tax returns and VAT though!)

How is it going to be that when we have a motherfucking german kid that sits with 2million coino?

I am sure if we look hard enough we can find the rest of the Mr Men in here. We already have Mr Angry Smiley

Anyway, back to the issue.. Yes, you are absolutely correct. Having Mr Coino sitting on almost 2 million coins is not ideal, but I think we can live with that. If you feel this is too much of a risk for you then you need to find a coin you are comfortable with. Life isn't always fair and one way or another we all get shafted at some point.

Creating a new coin should really be out of the question because it just becomes 'yet another alt coin'. However, re-branding is a definite option. In the Coino Forum a user named Saad created a new look for Coin(O) some time back that never got adopted, again due to a lack of any interest from the dev's.
Originally I wasn't that taken with it, but to tell the truth it did grow on me and I do actually really like it now.

We can easily create a new road map with community consensus and backing. I was never convinced about the debit card but I do know we have a member whom has created a Coin(O) POS system so we could let him drive this forward with our support and at a less 'world dominating' pace.

We have enough people here and on coino chat that can take over the future development of the coin including any wallet re-branding etc. We also have a member whom has created a Coin(O) WebWallet. This requires finishing as far as design goes, but I believe it is functional and with OUR help we can get this finished as well.
We also have a member whom has previously accepted Coin(O) in his store. He is based in Canada and that isn't much use to the rest of us, but we can discuss with him the model he used and try to get this in other countries as well. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but we can work on it as a community.
I am pretty sure that we can rouse enough enthusiasm in the community to spread the word as we begin to move forward.

Let's see if there is any movement from the dev's by the end of this month - 1st April. At this time there are a few of us here and on chat that are preparing to take control.
The reason I keep saying this is because up until then they have not failed to deliver on their road map. Even if they have been anal about engagement and it's almost certain that they have lost interest, probably because they realised some time ago that the promises on their road map was unrealistic.

The big issue for us is not really the 2 million coins the dev has, but rather the creation of the new domains for the new Coin(O) web site and creating meaningful content and setting realistic expectations etc.

Later we can look at tipper bots and other novelties but I think the first part will be deciding how is in, who is out and who is going to be responsible for what. Once we have a clear picture of this we can start to move forward. The price is unlikely to increase over night but if the new team can build up trust.

The one thing I will be fighting tooth and nail for is that we DO NOT get listed on ANY MORE exchanges. Big exchanges kill new coins.... We already have 2 exchanges for people to use and at this moment that is enough.

I second support this idea. I think the developer hasn't done anything wrong, it is too hard for one person to be all dev, marketer, supporter, and PR at the sometime and also the 2 million coins are not a problem right now. I agree that The first thing we have to do is build the strong dev team, marketing team, and community. In somehow, I think the situation could be an opportunity to get rid off an overnight investor to leave this coin, this coin is so young, easily to manipulate the price, and not ready for them right now. I believe we can do it.

Happy to help but I'm new to all of this, and I live in the UK. What sort of skills are needed in each of the areas:
- Dev team - so IT skills? Coding? Web development?
- Marketing - Advertising? To Whom? How?
- Community - So attracting other users through forums etc?

Maybe someone could take over the reins on this one, and get it jumping again?  Just a thought  Smiley

Actually I think this is definitely one of the more promising coins. There will be a need for a quick transaction block with sensible values, and its got a decent name (I mean Kitteckoin? FFS)... So actually I'm in...

A coin is only worth as much as people believe it, so you can either believe in it, or go be a sheep and follow the herd on whatever shitcoin is flavour of the minute..

If rough, save wallet.dat and coino.conf. Remove remaining in "%appdata%/coino"(windows). Run coino-qt.exe. Close coino-qt.exe. Reinsert wallet.dat and coino.conf. Run coino-qt.exe. Sync.

Thank you this appears to be working...

The very best ideas are around encouraging/helping all businesses to accept BTC or other crypto's as payment.

Then you will start SLOWLY and GRADUALLY seeing widespread adoption....

Paying for your coffee with a thumbprint, smartphone or at least a QR code imprinted on the back of your BTC payment card... that's how you get the masses adopting when they see this stuff happening...
