1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: September 26, 2023, 10:23:31 PM

Exactly it could affect your relationship with your partner or even your family or friends, I think the best way is to control yourself while doing this and not fall into a greed that could ruin you financially.

It'll be better when you get involved in gambling, just by doing it for fun and not as taking it as a source of income.

Absolutely I buy your conclusion, it is better doing it for fun than gambling for financial income. Gambling for fun will never affect your relationship.

At the op if opsec is not an issue could you let us know what country did you have the contest in?

I suspect somewhere in europe or the USA.
You are right, the project was done in Europe not USA.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone notice this pattern? on: September 20, 2023, 07:24:05 PM
The pattern detected in the timing for the new ATH is a mathematical logic which is relating various sets of data one to the other, while the number of years needed for the new ATH is proportional to many other factors. For example, the trend of 1 to 1.5 years may have been marked by the market Cap and other factors like new adoptions.  I see a pattern has frequent repetition of an element in a set of data as a response to the changing factors in the system in which the pattern is observed. Absolutely, there is a repeating pattern here with respect to the new ATH, but the timing will always depend on the factors that controls the pattern. And that is predictable if one is able to apply an algorithm that can consider majority of the factors in order to make a forecast. The pattern will still be correct when we have mass adoption and the price become stable, I mean when the speculation is gone and  bitcoin got the mass adoption.

Mainly most parents hold the belief that BTC, lacking government oversight and approval, is primarily associated with money laundering and illicit business activities.
I could guess that was the problem, it is sad that at a time when it should be very easy for people to do their own research and get the right information, they make their decisions based on what they read online from anti-bitcoiners who constantly attack the network. BTC with its public ledger and transparency in tx's isn't as good for money laundering as people think, except it is done by someone with a very good understanding of the network. Laundering money with cash is so much easier, but people think BTC is the problem.

You've  rightly recognized the roles of the anti-bitcoiners in this present case, It seems that these detractors can often be viewed as a "Trinity" composed of three influential entities: The Bank, The Media, and Political Power. Against these detractors it's important for us to continue the engagement of the public opinion in constructive dialogues and educating them of the multiple perspectives surrounding this trans-formative technology. Hoping that with our persistence and perseverance in the public awareness process we can get the mainstream public opinion on our side.
It seems that it is still difficult to make people aware to really open themselves up to new things. Even though there is the internet, it doesn't guarantee that people will look for as much information as possible about Bitcoin.

It seems that the government is also "restricting" the movement of Bitcoin in society by continuing to spread the news that Bitcoin is just a tool for carrying out illegal activities without telling them that Bitcoin is actually a valuable asset for them. The government does not want to lose the power it has built long ago and continues to try to spread rumors or bad news to the public.

And it seems that the presence of a government that is truly willing to "open up and accept new things" is very necessary but unfortunately, they are still controlled by people who have higher power. So the key is in the hands of the government and if they really allow it, they will educate the public about bitcoin/crypto.

That's very correct, countries that are friendly to Bitcoin  and Blockchain are mostly were we have bitcoiners in their politics. We need to encourage those fiends that have political ambitions to promote legislation and political policy that increase awareness and true protection of blockchain adopters.

Maybe you went in the wrong direction from the beginning, which is that you went directly towards the children, and you bypassed their parents, who still take care of these children and behave protectively. If you take into account all the scandals that have passed through the media and in which Bitcoin is mentioned in the past few years, then maybe you can understand why parents react in such a way.

Of course, it is not Bitcoin's fault that someone is not capable of running his company or has dishonest intentions from the very beginning of a project, but the media you mentioned write what people want to read, and bad news sells far better than good news.

Politics and banks are only (still) fairly static observers who do not need to make any big moves, because the average person is already instrumentalized to such an extent that he does not easily (or at all) accept anything that deviates from established norms of socially responsible behavior.

Yes, that's one of the lesson I learnt from the project, that it is very important to seek the consent of the parents or guardians before introduction of such projects that may generate controversy. Thanks for your advice.

This goes to share my experience about this teenagers motivational project. I hope this message finds you all well.
I wanted to share some updates about the project I embarked on recently, which aimed to introduce Bitcoin to the teenage footballers at our football academy as a form of positive reinforcement for their training progress.
While the project had noble intentions and was driven by a belief in the potential benefits of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency for young individuals, I was able give out bitcoins to more than half of the teenagers, before I had some resistance by parents. I regret to inform you that it did not succeed as planned, despite the enthusiastic interest and cooperation of the teenagers themselves. The main obstacle that I encountered was the strong opposition from the parents of the teenagers. Many of them expressed concerns and reservations about Bitcoin and blockchain technologies, which ultimately led to the project's failure.
I respect the parents' viewpoints and understand that these concerns stem from a place of care and caution for their children. It is essential to prioritize the trust and confidence of parents in any educational initiative involving teenagers. Therefore, I have decided to discontinue the Bitcoin gifts project at this time.
While this project may not have achieved its intended goals, it has taught me valuable lessons about the importance of considering the broader perspectives and concerns of all stakeholders when implementing such initiatives. It has also reinforced the significance of clear communication and transparency in any educational endeavor.
I remain committed to providing the best training and support to our teenage footballers. Moving forward, I will continue to explore innovative ways to inspire and motivate them to excel in their training, always with the best interests of both the teenagers and their parents in mind.
It was not all bad news as we won the league and it was a fantastic season for my boys. They only won 3 matches the previous season to invert the trend, as they only suffered one defeat the season I tried to motivate them with bitcoin.
Thank you for your support and understanding throughout this journey. Your encouragement has meant a lot to me, and I look forward to sharing more successful endeavors in the future.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for future projects, I would be eager to hear them. Let's continue to work together to make a positive impact on our teenagers' lives.

Closing inactive channels

The last two points are Breez-specific, "Breez"

Yes you're right, the pruning and conditions are centralized features and are related to Breeze LN.

I downloaded THE BREEZ WALLET and tried their application to continue the project, while I continue looking for a final solution to my Raspiblitz problem. The Breez wallet has some impressive functionality that really serves the project, because one of these functionalities permits users to buy Carrefour gift card with their Bitcoin. The Carrefour gift cards can be used for full or partial payment at any Carrefour hypermarket or Carrefour Market stores. Remaining balance will be stored on the card and can be used on future purchases with 1 year expiry from the activation date.

At the absence of a truly endogenous ecosystem in the crypto world, this type of cash out could be good as transitory phase to a complete endogenous ecosystem.

This week, we will be doing a test run with BREEZ, as the team has won their first prize in bitcoin, they did the 3 straight win with clean sheets to claim the prize.

Stay tune  to read the post about the test run...

In my research for the solution to my LND problem, I was motivated to learn more about the Ligthning network. I found this article:

very interesting, written about 2 years ago.

This aspect about closing inactive channels is very interesting and may be root of my network problem. But my doubt is whether Roy in this article was talking about the BREEZ rule for closing inactive channels, or about the general rules in the LN ecosystem. The 45 days inactive equal to pruning execution...

Closing inactive channels
Pruning a tree helps it to devote its resources to the fruit instead of to unproductive outgrowths, improving the quantity and quality of the harvest. Intelligent pruning actually fosters growth...

Please, can someone help explain this point about the 3 conditions of force closing inactive channels? I am lost at that point.
Thanks

'Close all' should've have worked if there's no issue with your node.
You can try post it as a new issue in GitHub and see if the developers can help: https://github.com/rootzoll/raspiblitz/issues

BTW, I checked your node in 1ML site and your channels seem to be active still (excluding onion): 1ml.com/node/03443d4d2248e25ed0bc726aaba3a9a858561f452f62e3c3baa36abe5d99e74d65

I have tried various options to closed the channels but they remain active on Iml.com but on the RTL they all appear inactive:
Ride The Lightning - jokscryptos
Active  0 ;   Pending 0;  Inactive 7: Closing 0

I tried to make the back up and do a restore with the backup file to force all closed and release the funnds, it does not work either.

I will try to raise the issue at the GitHub as you have rightly suggested, they can help out...
Thanks for your contribution.

You can manually put something together, starting for instance with the addresses and private keys exported from a new Electrum wallet. I sometimes use command line qrencode. If you use it offline and air-gapped and verify the QR-codes, you should be safe. But doing that 20 times is painstaking and it's easy to make a mistake.

But as I was checking the detail of each adress I generated through Electrum, I saw that type of script is on "p2pkh" and not p2wpkh which is the Bech32.

I tried the tools of the Electrum wallet and I was able to activate the Ligthning functonality in the Electrum wallet and now the wallets script are now in " p2wph" the Bech32...

I tested a micro transaction. The fees are small and the confirmation very fast.

Many thanks for the recommendation.

Your suggestion is a great option and the best way to put the security consciousness into the practise from the start. So, I get the Electrum wallet installed and start preparing the 20 wallets manually. I downloaded the Electron to my desktop to have the wallet on my local network.

But as I was checking the detail of each adress I generated through Electrum, I saw that type of script is on "p2pkh" and not p2wpkh which is the Bech32. And on the aspect of the interaction to Ligthning network it stated that - Not available for this wallet, "No disponible para esta monedero."
How do I adjust the setting to permit payment from LN and to interact with my LND Wallet?

Side question to broaden my understanding:
The Electrum wallet I installed, by default created 30 adresses and each adresses has unique public key and private keys. There is also this  Derivation Path "Rutas de Derivación" that starts as : m/0/0  for 1st  adress  and run up to  : m/0/29 for the the last one.
I thought that the wallet has one public key and many (30 ) adresses to keep the privacy of the owner. I just hope to clear this so that 30 adresses  will not end up been to same wallet and adress after giving it out to various users...
Is it normal that the adress assigned to each public key to be one to one?

I want so send small satoshis to 20 btc address that a paper wallets
Side question: how did you create those paper wallets? Several "paper wallet" websites produce compromised paper wallets and shouldn't be trusted. And especially if you're funding them with small amounts, using Bech32 addresses will save on fees when they use the funds.

Thank you LoyceV for your message.
I used bitaddress to generate the bitcoin addresses. I created them offline. Your suggestion about Bech32 addresses (Native Segregated Witness - SegWit) is nice and I'm trying to work on it right now.

I noted that segwitaddress generate the public key without the QR. How can I generate the private key alongside with the public key alongside with their QRs as well?
Is there a way to do that ?

Below is the format of the paper wallet I am giving  to the tenagers

I want so send small satoshis to 20 btc address that a paper wallets, the values are small and the security is not of prime issue. This is for educational purpose.

What do I need to do to be able to send fund out satoshi from the LND wallets to my 20 receivers?
You can't send funds from your channel to bitcoin addresses.
Since you only have 1 channel open, "close all" will do: https://github.com/rootzoll/raspiblitz#close-all-closing-all-open-channels

Many thanks nc50lc!

I have 7 channels opened and I had tried the "close all open channels" option, but I think the funds had been locked-up after using that option. I only have part of the fund on chain now , 60000 satochi and the rest are locked.
the ballance looks like this. Yet, I could not send the on-chain fund, because of the locked funds.

ON-CHAIN CONFIRMED                60000 sats
ON-CHAIN UNCONFIRMED                  0 sats
ON-CHAIN FEES                    -17048 sats
---------------------------------------------
LN LOCAL BALANCE                 760147 sats
LN LOCKED IN COMMIT FEES          18025 sats

Meanwhile, the channels are still listed on my opened channels but they are printed in red...
see image attached

What are the possible way forward to put fund online and be able to send micro funds to the paper wallets ?

Thanks

I am having problem with my LN wallet (RAspiblitz) and while searching for solutions and help. I come across this option which I think  can help you know about output balance differences.

OP_CHECKSEQUENCEVERIFY
in one of the discussion at bitcoin stackexchange forum. where the term was clarified.

It basically checks, if an input's sequence number is smaller than the sequence threshold (1 << 31 = 2147483648), and if so, it will compare the nLockTime against the sequence number of the input.

This may give you some insight into the wallet balance output... Hope I am not misleading you, but give alook at that.
20  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network node experience on: March 04, 2023, 12:23:01 AM
My experience in giving out Bitcoins as prize to teenagers did not last long, there is little practical usage available to the quiz winners. I am now trying out an ecosystem with LN to get the project back.
I am not a techie, so I bought a Raspiblitz 9 months ago. I successfully get the LN running, fund the wallet and open channels…
My node's URI is 03443d4d2248e25ed0bc726aaba3a9a858561f452f62e3c3baa36abe5d99e74d65@hth3b3nfasox6r5qhj6ih53yixbag53yl2jxreeeccplfn4jl7fqhcyd.onion:9735
I want to create a more practical community of LN users, so my node is to enhance an instant payout to the wallets of my players (soccer). I give out small amount of Satoshi as prize to all my players after winning 3 matches without conceding goals in a row.
They are excited and the objective provide an environment that permit constant exchange between themselves…
My problem now is that during an updating my LN channels were not completely synchronized and since then I could not use the LND wallet to send out satoshi …
It is still working and 100% synchronized, (I have access but lack the know-how)…
I need help on how to correctly use the LND wallets and to understand this LN system; I want to be a good guide to the ecosystem evolving out of the scenario…
