1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3 questions regarding Ubuntu and ethereum mining on: March 11, 2016, 08:17:09 PM
Hey thanks all for the advice, I'm still having issues with the individual card clock changes (I suspect it has to do with my initial ubuntu configuration and only selecting the 'fglxr-prop-updates' option instead of directly installing the drivers).

I had a quick additional question regarding cooling...My room recently has become so hot that I had to shut off 3 cards Sad
Would a fix like this: http://cdn5.thinkcomputers.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ghetto-mining-17.jpg
be able to help that or am I really wasting time?
If so does anyone have suggestions on how to make something like this without the tremendous hazard of cardboard directly on the gpus!?

Thanks!

Thanks for the 'teamviewer' responses so far!

I would really like to know the answers to my other 2 questions if anyone else has input.

Thanks!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 3 questions regarding Ubuntu and ethereum mining on: March 07, 2016, 12:47:59 AM
Hi All,

I have a few rigs going (4 rigs with 3x7950gpus each running ubuntu 14.04) and I wanted to ask some questions to keep my mining safe and efficient.

1) Is there a good watchdog type of program (like teamviewer) that would allow me to restart the miners from my laptop? I have them arranged around my room in such a way that I have to unplug and drag my monitor around if I need to restart them for whatever reason, and I would love to be able to restart them via the psu and then do the rest from my laptop.

2) I have had issues with things like atitweak for changing voltages and memory-it seems it will only mod the clocks on the first gpu (0) and the others (1,2) will be 'found' and mining but I am unable to switch their settings and I would really like to do that

3) I have 4 mobos, 2 have the ability to add 1 card each and the other 2 motherboards have 3 slots remaining each (so a possible 6 gpus to add total). My question about this-would it be more power efficient or even safer to combine them using a 2xpsu connector or should I leave them as is. The only reason this is an issue is because I am right near the limit without tripping the circuit and I hate to risk stuff like that due to greed. (note: all psus are 1000 or 1200watt and are gold rated)

Thanks for any advice-I can provide more details if it's needed!

hey i was having the same issue---ill try this out later to see if it works!!!!

Is there a super easy walkthrough for setting up the proxy on ubuntu 14.04? Sorry if this is a lame question but I'm stuck on everything after downloading the initial parts from github (basically step 2 onward).

Thanks!

Oh I know that! I mean what is it specifically called? (Dagger.cpp or something like that)

look for files full-R23-65d4fd... should have one gigabyte, or more
in ethash folder in linux under your user /ethash, in windows appdata\...\local\ethash

Found them---it turns out I hadn't enabled hidden files in ubuntu 14.04.

Thanks!

How do you regenerate the DAG file in ubuntu 14.04? Also thanks for the payout!

169 mhash (may improve to 189 to 209 soon) of ethereum. If you have suggestions on hashpower I have 4 7950s and 4 7970s in ubuntu 14.04 on stock settings. I would be happy to adjust clock speeds to hopefully push these to an average of 23 mhash (bringing the total to 188 or so) if you have any suggestions or requests

Let me know pricing and how you would want to do this

Sorry if this has been posted before--how can I get the newer miner (with optimizations) to work with ubuntu 14.04? Is it possible and if so is there a walkthrough?

Thank you

How exactly do I run the proxy?

Sorry I'm shit at ubuntu--I was able to install by including the sudo command in front of it...any way for a for in depth walkthrough (Or is it super straight forward and I'm not seeing something)?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5xxx card rigs...any value left in them? on: September 09, 2015, 06:29:13 PM
also keep this in mind you need to choose hashing algorithms that's make your hardware consuming low power nist5 is one of them may be fresh too
you can mine joincoin(multi-algo mine nist5)its very profitable now

Power isn't too much of an issue (utilities included)!

My main issue is that a lot of new algos tend to crash my older cards (skein has been good but I'm always on the hunt)!

I currently have a decent amount of qubit hash with them (13mhash)...Is the any algorithm where you can get a bit more profit? qubit seems close to death at this point and with my free electricity I would like to try something potentially better (most of the newer algos cause these older cards to crash :/ )

Thanks!

You can mine digibyte. (skein)

http://digibytewiki.com/index.php/Mining_hardware_comparison

the  HD 5970 is almost mining as good as a r9 290.

HD 5970   Skein   188 MH/s
R9 290   Skein   225 Mh/s

can you mine Ethereum with 5970?

I cannot but you may be able to?

-with regard to the flatness-

Shit happens yo, it's only money.

I'll keep on pointing the hash!

I believe they updated the 'fixed' price so it can't go lower than the 24 hour average?
